When I was first reading about this game , a lot was said about the 4 button input. At first I was taken aback, were Capcom dumbing down their fighters? Then most reviews that I read failed to really address the issue. This just made me more and more curious, how the hell can it work? Will I still be able to use all my cancel combos? How, without a difference between punch and kick, would any combo work??
It's worth remembering that the last Vs. game to have a full 6 button set up was the first Marvel Vs. Capcom (still my favourite, partly for this reason). The sequel dropped medium attacks. While I loved MvsC2, I did miss the mediums for sheer variety.
Now I have my hands on TvsC, I can say that the drop in inputs does not affect combo options or depth at all. This post is partly to alleviate any similar fears people might be having that is preventing them from buying the game or even giving it a try.
You my not have control over whether you use a punch or a kick, but you do have full light, medium and heavy options at your combo disposal. It works ridiculously well. You don't have to think about what reach you want to extend with a decision over punch or kick, just make a decision about hitting speed and go for it.
Does anyone else have any thoughts about dropping the 6 button set up? Anyone NOT like the current system? why?
