Im doing this at another forum, so I dont see why we cant do it here. Heck, some of the biggest fans I know are here. Ill post what Ive posted elsewhere so far.
Resident Evil Remake On Gamecube via Wii
Play Time: 6:09:10 as Jill
I really enjoyed Resident Evil Remake more than I have ever before. Just playing it makes me realise why Im a fan of the series, but it also really makes me miss this old school gameplay. That being said, REmake is my benchmark for how a game should be remade. There were parts where the game really played on your memory of the original (dog corridor is the best and most obvious example of this) and there were parts that were brand new and tied brilliantly into the game both from a story perspective and a gameplay perspective. The way they fleshed out the Neptune encounter was really tense and it did make me anxious while I was playing. Lisa Trevor is still to this day one of the most disturbing creatures in the Resident Evil universe - but I felt a lot more sorry for her this time around (Dont ask me why >_>). My progress was halted considerably with the infamous Hunter Leaps, and I hadnt saved for ages, so I had to start fresh. But still, regardless, I put an extra hour or two in and got past that initial hurdle.
High Points:
Pre-rendered backgrounds still look amazing (as do the graphics)
Lisa Trevors courtyard and cabin
Aqua Ring scenario[/list]
Low Points:
V-JOLT Mixing (Never could get into it.)
Fuel Cache Carrying (Did not prepare for it, so kinda made it harder)
This is the last time Ill ever see Barry properly again =(
(My) Unanswered Questions: Its pretty obvious that with Jills best ending, both Chris and Barry escaped and is canon considering RE3s ending. However, we do not see any of of Rebecca during Jills scenario. Is it truly an unanswered question as to the fate of Rebecca? Have they been sighted anywhere else post RE1?
Next Game: At the moment, Im really looking forward to RE2 arriving so I can play through that, but I might try a side story or even Resident Evil Zero while Im waiting, Im feeling like Ive had almost none of Beccy =P

Resident Evil Zero (GCN)

I only played Resident Evil Zero once before this and that was in February 2003, when the game first released. Heck, the game still had the Electronics Boutique sticker on it for $109.95 when it first released here. :lol To be honest, RE Zero left a very foul aftertaste in my mouth when I first played it, but playing through it again, its actually got a lot of features that I really enjoyed. Partner zapping was a nice feature, and it surprisingly wasnt that jarring when characters switched for a disc based game. I was impressed. The fact that you could drop any items and find them in the exact same place no matter where you were at the time was also a very nice feature. The removal of item boxes was not a huge gripe with me, but it certainly made the weapons seem stackable, in that you would have to upgrade from a pistol to a shotgun instead of keeping both. That and the inventory being so small really raised issues for me but also made me realise that this game is the epitome of the SURVIVAL part of the genre. You really felt like you needed to survive.
That being said, the BOWs were awesome in this game. I remember reading that Minami wanted to have a more organic feel for the enemies in this game, and in that regard he succeeded. Some of the designs werent as, say, exciting as other enemies in the series, but the Monkies, Centipedes, Grasshopper things and the Leeches were all good enemies, but the Frogs were just annoying (but I wish they kept them in the series in some form).
The puzzles in RE Zero were also top notch. Some of them were really intense and you felt like you were actually thinking about them, and there was a huge sense of accomplishment when you solved them. I think RE Zero has some of my most favourite puzzles in the series (seriously >_>)
I really liked the idea of the prototype tyrant that Rebecca fights in the game, though I didnt quite feel it was a prototype because it was nearly as deadly. Perhaps if it had some major design flaw (exposed vital organs was in the final, remember >_>) that made it an easier boss just for story reasons and it wouldve felt like more of a prototype. Either way, I liked that we were seeing that even Umbrella made mistakes with their controlled experiments.
High Points:
Billy Coen <3
Animal + Torches Puzzle
Lurkers are quite possibly the coolest enemies better
Visiting RE2 areas in that awesome REmake style
Low Points:
RE2 areas have yet to be made into an awesome remake =(
Leech Zombies really sapped supplies when you didnt want them to
The crate and grate puzzle really stumped me for some reason
Having to haul that fucking hookshot around the place
Leech Hunter is the worst game mode ever
(My) Unanswered Questions / Discussion Starters: Why dont we ever hear of any of Rebeccas exploits in the original Resident Evil? Also, is there any mention of Billy Coen outside of this game?
Next Game: With none of my classic RE games showing up, I think Ill just have to make do with Outbreak until they arrive. Once again, Are there any characters that you should play particular scenarios through with? I remember one of the scenarios was filled with more story material due to some interactions between Yoko and an NPC, or was this happening for every character you play as?
