Bionic Commando in May

Nathan Spencer to be reactivated on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

Capcom has announced that Bionic Commando, which sees the return of the ultimate fusion of man and machine, is to be released in May 2009 for Xbox 360 and PS3. A PC version will be released in the following months.

Bionic Commando features Nathan Spencer, a government operative who is betrayed and falsely imprisoned by the very people he unquestioningly served. Five years later, on the day he is due to be executed for his supposed crimes, an experimental weapon detonates in Ascension City, unleashing an immensely powerful earthquake coupled with a radiation shockwave that leaves the city in ruins, wiping out its populace.

Military intelligence suggests that a large terrorist search force has moved in and occupied Ascension City, and with the terrain in ruins and the terrorists in control the FSAs only option is the reactivation of Nathan Spencer.

The Bionic Arm and the swing mechanic from the original game return, but have been upgraded to deliver a range of devastating attacks and allow Spencer to quickly traverse the games diverse environments.

At least, not only Steam.

I saw a couple of boxarts online, so I'm guessing there'll at least be a disc you can buy in stores.

I'm excited about this anyway, really curious about the online multiplayer.

Saw the preview on Playr on Sunday. It actually looks pretty nice. I'm just worried about how easy it will be to aim and keep moving. If it's anything like the game mechanic in the Spiderman games then it should be great.

I'll keep my eye on Metacritic scores for this, i think.

It's a lot easier to get the hang of than the xbox arcade game. If you like open space games like Crackdown where you go around doing missions then you will like it. The map has pointers so you never feel lost in where to go too. There ain't many cutscenes but the story is told through radio as you get through certain points. The swinging is pretty cool to do and there's a skill to it in that you have to stop pressing button at a certain point.

Early enemies are mostly the same type but later on there are some more advanced ones that make you use arm skills. As for multiplayer it's similar to Lost Planet but at a faster rate. All the usual modes are there and it's very addictive with 8 people on. :)

I think it's really good value for the £30 it is going for in most places online. All I can say is what I played made an impression on me and there were different challenges to make it different each time like deactivating mines.

Hope it is of help as I understand too what it's like to not be able to buy everything I want and making choices.

I asked about any different editions at the event but there's no plans currently. It may change if we keep begging Capcom for one. :p

Lots of places have it for £30 mate and amazon are only quicker when you go with 1st class. I am not sure how much it costs to send to Portugal but shopto seem to have a good reputation with it. Just not sure if it is £30 but should be as GAME have it at that price too. Does GAME in Portugal have the same price?

Video games in Portugal have stupidly high prices... I've been buying almost all my games online from UK sites like Amazon and Game.

In Portugal, Game has the same prices of the rest of the stores... Bionic Commando will probably cost the same as Resident Evil 5, 60€ which is roughly £54.
