I have about 6000 points now, and I think I might spend some at the weekend. I finished portal last weekend, and it was awesome and I do have a few other things I haven't played properly, so it's not urgent, but here's my list of what I have and what I want, and what I now know I don't want:

I have:
Monkey Island
MvC2
TMNT
Castle Crashers
Trials HD
Ikaruga

I'd like:
Braid
Final Fight (when it's released)
Bomberman?
Worms
Maybe smash TV
Chase HQ?

I don't want:
Rez*
Geometry wars*

*based on playing demo's and not liking them

I loved Rez, but each to their own I guess.

Braid is a good game, though I managed to complete it in 1 night.

Check out the Indi Games section for "I ma3d a gam3 with zombi3s in it!" as that's awesome, and only costs 80 points.

Someone has GOT to explain to me how I can acces the indie games section... there's supposed to be some pearls of games for low low prices, but I can't seem to figure out how to get to them. <_<

I read that the EU wasn't able to get them, but if you can get to it TZM, I must be doing something wrong...

From your wants list I've got Ikaruga, Bomberman, Smash TV and Worms. There all pretty good but my fav is defo bomberman which is probably the only game I still fire up now and again.

Others arcade titles I really like are R-type Dimensions, Alien Breed Evolution, Out Run Coast 2 Coast and Battlefield 1942

I'd personaly love it if Chase HQ came to live though. :)

TZM, forgot about Braid, that's definitely up there.

I'm not sure about alien breed, I was a huge fan of the original(s), but the new one was a bit dark and confusing in the demo.

I'll check out R-type, but oddly I don't have fond memories of the old ones. It was rock solid, had mean restart points and was very slow. Now Xenon II and Z-out - those were games.
Outrun... I prefer Rad Racer :D
And which bomberman is it? it was a guess that it was even on live, but I was recently considering mega bomberman/'94 on the Wii.

out of your wants Trials HD is a great game I own Braid, Bomberman, Worms, smash TV. Not even a mention of shadow complex my favourite xbla game not had as much fun since metroid on the SNES.

Yes we can get them in the UK.

I go to them new release section.
Then scroll through the Demo's, themes, video's, arcade and then Indie.

Unless they are not available in your part of the EU

Good to see a fellow amiga fan on here! :) ...if so then for a retro fix seni soccer and speedball 2 (although sb2 might have been pulled now?) are also on live.

Bomberman on xbox live is a brandnew incarnation... but its still plays like the classic (dynablaster ;)) and the wii vc game is much the same really.

I've personaly got fond memories of the arcade (and omeba versions) of R-type and dimensions is basicaly the complete R-Type 1&2 arcade games in the one package. ...and both have been re-imagined with new high def 3D gfx, complete with lighting effects, that bring them bang up to date and if you don't like it you can switch between classic and 3D by pressing a button. ...its still rock hard though. lol

I see you've bought Monkey island which is a title I still havent got yet but do want to purchase at some point.

As samtman said Trials HD is also pretty cool and addictive.

Get Shadow Complex!
It's brilliant fun. One of the best arcade purchases I've made in recent months.

Speedball 2!!! Brutal Deluxe!!!

I will have to get that. I NEED it.

Fresh is also an Amiga fan - although I'm a bigger Amiga fan than him :D

I just did a quick google and it looks like Speedbal2 (and Double Dragon) were removed from live as their publisher went into administration. So if you haven't already got them then you won't be able to. :(

^This.

I think i played it for an hour and then never touched it again. Games like this back then were incredibly frustrating and I didn't enjoy them at all. They were sluggish and, as you said, sometimes thoroughly unfair!

In fact I think the number of games I had for my speccy that i had actually managed to complete were about 5-10 out of hundreds :( (probably due to my malfunctioning kempston joystick).

Also, most games of that era had cop-out endings. I loved Target Renegade, but after weeks and weeks of flying kicks to the face of well endowed ladies (followed by an obligatory face pummeling) I completed it only then to find no end game screen, no animation, no rescuing the girlfriend (which was apparently the plot) no. Instead you were sent back to the beginning of the game again to do it all on a ever so slightly more difficult setting

Now, Chase HQ, now you're talking :D

Target renegade was awesome! One of the best games on the Spectrum.

Shame about Speedball 2. That was so good. and I don't think I fully appreciated it back in the day.

I used to love the theme music too, even though at the loading screen Renegade was jaundice yellow and looked like he was wearing lipstick.

"Let's go, Mr Driver!" :D

I had the +2 and I remeber the digitized sounds being spot on for that game.

Good times.

I only had the zx 48k +, i still loved the sound when your siren came on :D

Did anyone else have Barbarian? I loved that game too. Awesome music for the time and you got to do a "web of death" with your sword. And if you managed to chop your opponent's head off a little sprite would come drag their body away whilst kicking the head along. Good times.

The sounds on robocop on the +2 were also amazing (qutoing all the prime directives etc from the film). :)

Barbarian is a true classic... maybe the first real gore game? ...which really led the way for games like Moonstone and even titles like Mortal Kombat.

Lets get Horrace Goes Skiing and Jet Set Willy on xbox live! lol

Speaking of which - the sampled speech on the Amiga for Batman and Robocop - my jaw hit the floor. Same with the graphics for Turrican. And of course the gameplay.

I remeber the good old rubber key 48k version! ...although I jumped from the Commodore Plus4 to the Specky +2. :D

Did you get to see the bbc comedy show 'Micro Men' that was on a while back regarding the UK games industry battle in the 80s? http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00n5b92

This threads starting to go way off topic. lol :)

Really enjoyed Micro Men when I saw it over Christmas :) Not sure how accurate it was but it was certainly interesting.

I was a Commodore 64 owner rather than Speccy owner. Still got it somewhere in a box with about 300 odd games. So cheap back then :D
