So finally the TRUE Sequel comes out of the bag... :D
The announcement of a new Sonic the Hedgehog game is always news, but with the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1, the folks at Sega are taking a novel approach by marrying old-school Sonic gameplay and new-school delivery. Sonic 4 will be a 2D game with 3D visuals for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii and will be distributed as a downloadable game upon its release this summer.

The trailer had me at "SEEEEEEEGAAAAAAAA". <3
Only thing bugging me; Sonic's running. No more wheel legs which seems to have been replaced permanently by just fast leg motions. :[

I am very happy for the news and sooooooo surprised!It is only the game series that I first fully finished when I was like something like 8 or 9.
I am looking forward to seeing what levels will be like and what the story is.... :)

This is actually looking pretty nice. I was afraid it would be NiGHTS Wii all over again.
I prefer sprites to 3D. Didn't like it in new super mario, didn't like it in the old rare N64 platformers.

Hmmm, I haven't played ANY of the 3D Sonic games of the past,
But wouldn't 2D with 3D models be like the Sonic levels in that Werehog game?
Were those any good?

I hope it is just like Sonic the Hedgehog 3, loved that game. Hyper Knuckles and Super Tails were fun to play as :p.

You deserve like a box of endlesss cookies Kieron! I used to love getting all the emeralds and then the super emeralds with all 3 of them.
The litlle birdies fluttering around Hyper Tails always made me laught so hard.

i think they should take a lead from street fighter4, u know, 3D graphics and models, but 2D gameplay, look how well it turned out for street fighter:D instead of being dead annoying like tekken:flamesangry:

I use to think Tails was cool, with his evil gang of hyper flickies (birds). Though as soon as Tails had a voice actor it ruined him in my opinion :mad:. Now they give him female voice actors and annoying kids voices, poor poor Tails.
P.S. They stuck him in a machine.......now he doesn't even fly!

Well Sega have been given a golden opportunity they'd better not screw this up. Can you believe that some people are actually complaining that it's not original enough? We gamers can be really hard to please sometimes. I mean first Sega makes ''original'' Sonic games and most of them turn out rubbish (Sonic Unleashed), and of coure gamers complain. Now Sega is taking Sonic back to his roots and they're complaining that it's not original enough /angry rant.
I've started to prefer the old game-styles to the new game-styles to be honest, so this is a massive welcome from me.
