As well as all of this, I have a collection of RE pictures/backgrounds/stories/etc on my PC.
Yup, the moment TZM enters a topic like this, all previous posters are pretty much creamed and future posters are put off or aroused by his collection.

You have to think about how long Ive been collecting it all though. Since the release of RE2, Ive been picking up everything and anything to do with the series and slowly building it up.
It also helps that when a new game in the series is released, magazines tend to give away free posters, cards, etc.
And it also helps knowing the people that work in the games shops, as then theyre happy enough to give away the POS.
I assure you though, there are bigger collections...just few people will post them. Im pretty certain that I have the largest in the UK...but thats about it.

Just for fun here is what I remember from top of my head:
- Resident Evil Code Veronica dreamcast which is where it all started and what an introduction that was as its my favorite in the series!
- Resident Evil remake on gamecube as I got it ages when when gamestation did 4 pre owned games for 20!!!Just to think that I never got it for my SEGa Saturn because I used to be scared of just thinking about playing it. :P
- Resident Evil 3 dreamcast which is really cool but a bit trickier than I expected so didnt finish it yet.
-Resident Evil 4 Wii as I wanted to see how it played with the new control scheme and its fantastic.
Have any of you played the game boy game as I seem to remember have played it but then again I also think that I have Resident Evil 2 around somewhere.
Oh i forgot deadly silence lol
Not to mention the 4 Resi films.

Think its worth including things like that? Especially given the easy-to-access and free nature of all of those? Or should merchandise collections literally refer to everything and anything, free or not, that has the name slapped on it?
This is something that Ive been thinking and would like some insight from others.

Id say pretty much anything that can be classed as RE merchandise or accesories, etc.
Access to it doesnt really matter, considering I also have access to all of the back-catalogue of games, etc.
Also, the Theme isnt free...

Hmm, Im not sure what theme youre referring to but Ive got the Degeneration one which was free.
See, Im not arguing the case that anything with the name slapped on it is/isnt merchandise, however I have encountered those who disagree that things like trailers could be placed in the same category as items like games and books that youve had to pay for.
But seeing as you also support the idea that anything with Resident Evil on it is merchandise, Ill follow suit and include those additional things.

I dont see them to be particularly worth anything, but noting them as a part of my collection I see as fine.
The Theme I got was the RE5 Theme on Xbox Live. Cost me 50 Gamer Points.
I see the stuff that I paid for to obviously be worth much more than the stuff that I download, but I still consider a part of the collection, since I have taken my time to collect it :P

I actually got most of my games from local game shops, I only buy the ones online that I can't find, some are especially cheap (2 for Survivor on Amazon.co.uk), im the same with merchandise, but that's only if I like the look of it, im not a collector, just a simple fanboy, I just buy what I like. :)

All the games are available easily, and the NECA brand Merchandise is easy to get.
But if you want figures, clothes, comics, etc, you have to go to a specialist (Forbidden Planet, Independent Comic stores, etc), or go online.

Finally got my copy of RE5 today. Didn't get the special edition, due to a lack of money.
I'm also trying to save up an extra 20 to get the special edition walkthrough.

Where did you get your SE book? I couldn't find one anywhere in the nearby town I got my game from.
I'm assuming it's only going to be stocked by the big shops like GAME and GameStation, amirite?

I got my copy from GAME today.
They have a fair few at the moment, and the manager said that they'll likely be around and re-published for a while, due to the game being a big hit.
Same goes for the standard guide.
The SE guide is gorgeous though, the artwork at the back is really nice, and it includes interviews with the production team.
It's one of the best guides I've got.
And for anybody interested, the B.S.A.A comic is out now, and available from Forbidden Planet and no doubt many other retailers.
I've flicked through it, and it's ok...not great, but I'd say better than the original comics.

It's actually quite nice. Reasonably well designed.
I'd love to see a TriCell T-shirt in the same style as things like the R.P.D, Umbrella and B.S.A.A T-shirts.
The hoodie looks quite nice too, the price does not, and the fact that I may not be able to wear it in public shopping centers and such.

Update on my list, I got Resident Evil: Degeneration on DVD.

Yeah, I totally did that on my second run, used only 2 saves though.
And agreed, it's much better than the previous games, Although Survivor 2 was pretty fun, even if it didn't have a plot.

I should point out it's considered non-canon too, meaning if you're playing it for the story, you're going to be dissappointed, otherwise, yeah, an enjoyable title, a nice rarity too.

I heard that it wasn't canon, which is good, as not many people seem to have played it, so there aren't left without the knowledge of a amethey m ot be able to get hold of.

It is pretty uncomfortable to use aswell. The only good reason to use it would be so you can rip the cord and hear that awesome chainsaw noise. :D

For me the resident evil 2 was the best game, RE 3-5 didnt have any scary moments that gave me the chills like RE 2 had, RE was also good for that matter.
Today i find it hard to play a game more than once, RE 1 & 2 was special, i never thought about playing it again and again it just happened.
I have a house full of resident evil junk. i have all the games, including gaiden and the gun survivor series (and all three versions of code veronica not to mention the gamecube and wii ports, these games never get old but the hardware to play them on sure does). in addition, i have the 6 novels by S.D. perry, the code veronica manga, the three live action movies, degeneration, the gamecube chainsaw controller, figures of jill from resi 1, leon and claire, tyrant and chris and shiva forn resi 5, umbrella key chain, umbrella sweatband, umbrella hoody, tri cell sterile mask (which i got randomly off ebay when i bid on a street fighter figure) the sound track to all three films and a resi 5 poster. if that pails into insignifficance compared to some of your collections, you should see how much street fighter stuff i have!;)

I suppose some people are happier with entire mint collections of merchandise and games, whereas I'm happier using it all. :P

Ok not much but then again I'm a collector of Final Fantasy VIII merchandise, haven't been into the Resi games for long. I do own some rare Biohazard items but they're pressies for someone else so they can post about them when they receieve them =p
Resi one for the PSone I got for free from a customer as they couldn't trade it in (I work in GAME). Love it when I get lovely customers like that.

They did? The mini Chris figures were freebie promotional items for those that pre-ordered Resi 5. We had a whole box of them so in the end just gave them away to anyone, they shouldn't of charged money for them 0_o I've seen a few floating around on ebay if you're desperate for one lol

I know how you feel.
There have been a few that I knew/know that have come close, but fallen at several hurdles.
There was a time when I was known as "That Resi Guy" in one of my local game shops, but they shut down...the people at GAME and GameStation don't seem to want to talk to me when I go in there, which must be a bad sign to be honest.
Though, I have had occasions where an employee at one of them says "So you like Resi do ya?" and I raise an eyebrow, and decide to not spare them the details, going into depth about just how much I like the series.
This may explain why they don't talk to me much...
EDIT:

As William pointed out, I'm a collector...it is a part of my goal to own every copy for every system, and eventually for every region.
I'm not the only person in this thread with multiple copies of the games.
Funny, i joined this community like 4 months ago and my capcom collection(resident evil too)had grown from 0 to like 10 or 15 things :D
At least i have one resi thing you dont have TZM, i have a copy of resident evil 3 for pc along with 3 other games from our local PC magazine :D

There is a NTSC DVD and a PAL DVD for WR 1.
Too bad the WR2 Book doesn't exists for Europe, the quality is excellent, but understanding japanese is far from me:(
One day maybe?(there is the translation of course in many guidesbook, but that's not like an official WR item...)

I wouldn't collect the films though, nice enough to see them made but they can't capture the Marathon sessions (unless ur doing a speed run thru 2 unlock sumthing) or effort you put in to playing games and in the games Your THE STAR!

I'm also a fan of strategy guides (as you might be able to tell from my list). Not only do they give you quick and easy access to extra information on the games, they have lots of pretty things in them to.
I have a thing for maps, and I've always been a fan of the way they do the maps in the Resi guides.

I've liked them ever since I got my first Final Fantasy one. I think they're collectors items in their own right as they often have character bios and pretty pictures lol
I hate when people say it's cheating though, it's not it's strategy! You still have to do all the work at the end of the day. Cheat codes to give you unlimited health ect is cheating.

Thanks, i'm not good on making websites, but i really wanted to create a databank for all resident evil/biohazard items.
I still have a lot of work to do to complete it with my own items, but i won't give up!
I think i will only have Chris and Wesker, each one in STARS version, because i don't like RE4 and RE5, and i don't collect anything about those games, those hot toys figures are an exception, because characters wear Rebirth costumes.
When i went to Japan in 2008 i saw Léon in RPD costume, i should have buy it, maybe it's the only one i want to have from hot toys now with chris-STARS and Wesker-STARS.
I collect everything about all Resident Evil/Biohazard games, except BH4/BH5.
But i think BH4 and BH5 fans must be very happy, because those hot toys figures are really excellent, too bad there is no series about others old games of the saga...I like what Dragon did with Chris and Claire on Code:Veronica.
There was a Wesker Figure for RE CVX, don't remember the company, but I wasn't too excited about the figure, though I always wanted a little hunter :D
I'm surprised you don't like RE 4 too much, with RE 2 it's my fave game of the series. I was disappointed by RE 5 in many ways, but Wesker just kicks ****, I love his Midnight Outfit. The instant I saw pics of the Hot Toys version, I knew I had to get it ;)

Ah, you mean the Palisades one? I wanted that one so badly, the Hunter is just so perfect, much better than the others that have been released.
It's hard to get hold of now and a little bit out of my price range. I've only seen them on sale from upwards of £100. I should've got one when they were cheaper. :(
Hope you can get your RPD Leon for a nice price too, William Birkin. I would love to get one for myself aswell, the detail on him is so lovely. :D

The volks one are very LE I bet, only seen Claire and Wesker occasionally on Japanese auctions. The palisades Wesker/Hunter is nice! Marking his return in the series!
There always is alot of items in Biohazard. Like the watch line up for rebirth. When I saw Wesker's watch appear on auction, the buy now price was on five numbered in yen but was used hours after the listing was started, also what about those CV console packages. Very LE. I also think of the Biohazard 2 commercial tape showing behind the scenes, there was LE 100 or 200 from what I have heard.
On other news. I secured Biohazard 2 Drama Album (Ada), DC soundtrack, Biohazard 4 dvd (Ashley) and Tricell ashtray from Japan.

I always imagined kitting out a room with all the Umbrella stuff...make myself feel like an Umbrella CEO or something :p
I can't wait to start earning proper money, as I'll be able to afford the bigger things for my collection. I've been quite lucky in mostly being given or winning the items I have in my collection.
I won a few things, but never any RE item.
But I got a small carpet that has pattern similar to the stairs-carpet in the original PSone RE. Maybe I take a picture of it :)

In Belgium, we have French, German and Dutch as official languages. On top of that, I study languages. :D
Interpreting is, therefore, a great exercise for me. Feel free to call upon anytime you need something translated in Dutch, French, German or English. :)

Yeah, I had that too. Luckily, I'm in my last year now.
I don't know about Slovak, but dutch, which is my mother tongue, looks a lot like german. :chin: This makes it easier for me to at least understand it. :)

Slovak is in the same group as Czech, Polish and Russian, though Russian is so different i cant understand a thing + it has a different kind of letters, you know what i mean.

yeah you are right, there is only online guides available for it which is strange.
My 2011 RE5 Calendar just arrived (panini) Great as last years, this year more ingame that cutscene pics. Little draw back: No real Wesker-pic, but still beautiful pics and layout :)

I'd rather have a Hunter, too, or Birkin and the price - erm- well, that's a little too much for me, too. At least for a Licker that just stand around and catches dust...;)
Update: Have enlarged my collection a bit, finally got a Wii and REmake, REØ, and the two Chronicles to go with it. Finished REØ, REmake both with Chris and Jill and now I'm playing Umbrella Chronicles. My first railgun shooter, still struggle a bit with the controlls.
Also got RE 5 Gold Edition Move and RE5 Artwork Book. :)
