I recently managed to blag myself a 13 month Subscription to Xbox Live Gold. 12 months for around œ29, with 1 month free.

I dont actually use it that much at the moment, but this is because Ive got a heavy load of Uni work.

But whatever, thats beside the point.

Today I went and bought myself a 2100 Microsoft Points Card. Id buy the points online if I had the right card, and a good control over online spending...but I dont, so I went for the physical option.

Id seen the DVD cases in stores hundreds of times, thinking Take it up to the counter, and theyll give you a little pre-paid card on a bit of cardboard, usual deal.

I was wrong. Awesomely wrong.

You probably all already know this, but you forget...this is my first dabble into Physical Microsoft Points...I normally get my Downloadable games for free from Competitions, or I get my parents to spend a little bit online.

So anyway, I get the box back in my hand (after a rather rude encounter with a GAME employee), and take it back home.

Now Im thinking At least I have a spare DVD case for discs.

As you mostly already know...I was wrong again. Awesomely wrong.

Seriously Microsoft...why are you not taking the route that most people are, and just releasing the cards attached to a bit of cardboard? This is a serious waste of plastic...

I have the same thought every day, when cooking dinner. Scaringly, the process seems to produce more packaging than edible parts :| The recycling bag fills in 3 days, and I dare not think what itd be like if we had any kids.

Oh, wow. Theyre completely different in Australia.

Its basically a plastic card wedged in a cardboard sleeve, which is then covered with blister plastic packaging to give it a funky shape. Still, not as much waste of space as that DVD case, I assure you =P

some of the xbox live codes are like that James, just they seem to have adopted that as well.

Yeah, well, maybe if you cooked better the packaging - edible parts ratio would be more favourable ;)

That was what I was expecting to find. I do remember seeing them like that on the odd occasion, but the DVD case seems to be much more prolific in the UK.

Ooooo....

*starts to wonder if Sledgie will make an appearance*

Speaking of cards, have Sony started selling PSN cards in Europe, preferably England? They seem to be a rare breed throughout the world and I find it rather strange that Sony havent capitalized on it.

Yeah, the plastic card cases have always been pretty much useless the only useful thing Ive found to do with them is store game receipts.

Also nice hair.

Even if it was a DVD case, stacking it amongst the others would make my game collection look like a pack of tic-tacs.

No, it seems they are not interested on that...

It used to be handy when it was green as I replaced a broken game case with the only one I bought. But I agree with you that with that new oranga colour it doesnt really have any purpose. The cards are also more expensive than buying directly on xbox live even if my mother got me one of them recently when Woolworths had them for œ10 something. I been buying lots of Lips tracks with it so was very handy... :P

Also nice to see someone else who recycles too as I also find it very surprising how much rubbish it is that could have just gone to add to the poisoning of our Earths soil. It helps that the recycling area is like minutes away from where I live too. :)

How ridiculous. Not everyone has the luxury of paying by card, nor do many want to pay by card.

Its not that I have a problem with paying (actually thats a lie but what are you gonna do?) but it would be a lot easier (and in some ways safer) to buy PSN cards.

Another thing Sony are totally off the mark on.

They forgot that people under 18 usually dont have access to credit cards, so they would have to ask the parents to use them, etc, etc, etc... They could make more money, a kid could ask for the grandmother a card for christmas, and more money to Sony... But no... :dead:
