View Full Version : PlayStation VP Says "PS1 And PS2 Classics" A Terrific Opportunity
The long-rumored, recently leaked (http://kotaku.com/5364828/ps2-dreamcast-games-may-come-to-psn-says-apparently-leaked-doc) existence of PlayStation 2 (http://kotaku.com/tag/playstation2/) games joining the "PS One Classics (http://kotaku.com/tag/psoneclassics/)" line comes a bit closer to reality, at least in the mind of PlayStation senior VP Peter Dille (http://kotaku.com/tag/peterdille/) who calls the digital re-issues a "terrific opportunity." In an interview with IGN, Dille says that the PlayStation folks are "working really hard on" bringing more PlayStation and PlayStation 2 games to the PlayStation Store, not quite an official announcement, but another glimmer of hope........................

A step closer to full backwards compatibility? lets hope so.
This is win-win.
I really hope it doesn't put a nail in physical media's coffin because of ownership issues I'd like to see addressed, but for developers, consumers and the environment, this is great news.

Exactly. Sony were moronic when it came to the removal of backwards compatability.
Now they want to bring it back, but in the form of digital downloads.
This is good for people who didn't have a PS2, but for the majority of us who have a billion games, it's extremely unfair and almost pointless.
I think they should make the console backwards compatible again, as well as including titles on the PSN, and then maybe patch the disk games on the console itself with trophy support.

They won't put trophies on any old games. I just want some of my old games to work without me having to set up yet another black box next to my tv and I dont want to have to pay over the odds (or at all!) to play them again.
To all those who missed Shadow of the Collosus the first time round, if it comes up on PSN I'd advise you to buy it without a second thought. That game is EPIC!
Saw this coming a mile off when they removed backwards compatibility. I suppose it's a good money making strategy on their part: remove the ability to play PS2 games, make everyone re-buy their games digitally and all with the added benefit of cutting the legs out from under the huge PS2 second-hand games market. Bravo Sony! ;_;

Yea, I know what you mean, but like, they put trophies on the God of War collection, so they should put them on older games. :p
Shadow of the Colossus is good btw, but you have to play it twice to get to the secret hidden garden......which I can almost do, as my climb bar is pretty high.
Such a fun game though!
hallelujah!! (spelling?)
