I have a strange condition with my hands. (This is serious btw). My muscles on my thumbs have grown so large that they have started to cut off the nerves in the middle of my hands, which causes a numbness in my little fingers and the finger next to it.

The muscle was mainly developed about 20-22 years ago playing Street Fighter II on the SNES - that pad was brutal for trying to do dragon punches and 360 pile drivers.

People at work often come to look at my hands because of their ridiculous bulbus nature and some often suggest that I should advertise Street Fighter. I fear that wouldn't be a good thing.

All in all, by a stick if you're serious about Street Fighter, Ten's right. The excellent Mad Catz Street Fighter IV range are the bee's knees.

I think it was 'cause I used the D-pad...
I'm not sure about fighting sticks. The last one I got wqs for the Dreamcast (for MvC and MvC2) and I ended up not using it much...

Oh I am going to get slated for this so badly. But is SF:IV worth buying? There was one is CEX near me for £15, but I am just worried that I won't get that much play out of it.

You could wait till Super Street Fighter IV comes out but if you want practice get the first one now

I think £15 is worth it. I haven't played it much, but I will when I get live. Playing against real people is fun.

That might explain why my friend requests never make it through.:chin:

I miss the days when I was new into fighting games and could feel the thumb blister...

These days, I can get a new fighting game, play it all day, and no pain anymore.
Though, maybe for the better, since I was doing the SFIV trials, and a papercut on the top of my finger (which I got at work) pened up a bit... I don't dig it. Dx

I remember in the olden days when games were joystick wagglers. That was proper gaming related injuries, not like these kids nowadays with their butan mashing and their RSI.

I don't really get blisters from Street Fighter but got 1 with Tekken 6! Spent so long on that nightmare train level that my thumb had this huge blister on it for days! A stick is nice and all but it is too expensive and I keep thinking I could get Samba De Amigo or Panzer Dragoon Saga with the money. :p

RSI

That's a pretty serious condition, trust me. Work related rather than games, I was blessed with it for quite a few years and they were years of hell. It's not much fun when you can't do even the most basic things like feeding yourself

Talking about not being able to feed yourself, I got in a fight once, and got hit in the jaw - I couldn't move my jaw left to right without a sharp stabbing pain for a week (so no chewing).

I had to buy loads of soup!

*edit* Geeze, looking at the price of those sticks... I think I'll have to use luck to get one somehow.

I had to do research this time for HCI about RSI and it does look grim from the description. With the amount that I am typing because of documents and all that sometimes it kind of worries me that I could develop. I am glad it got much better for you.

It is one of the reasons I like Summer vacation in Portugal because there are no computers for at least a hour's drive for me to to type on. :p
