Bobafet I've a 40Gb model (or used to have). No 3rd p+aty warranty unfortunatelly.

I'm also mad because my Modern Warfare 2 is still inside, and the last backup I made for all my saves was in December. I'll lose the progress on spec ops :(

And the Resident Evil 5 saves are copy-protected, so I'll have to start from the very begging :stretcher:

will you be hoping for a repair or a new one?

I lost all my saves not long ago due to my HDD getting corrupt :( should have backed it up.

40Gb model? So far it seems only those early models are malfunctioning.

Cant you just take the HDD from the ps3 and make the backup on to your pc?

I feel your pain my friend, when my xbox got RRoD and I was just totally gutted. Lucky for me my PS3 has not suffered anything other than crashing a couple times

I had an original BC 60GB PS3 console that got the YLOD.

Luckily i took out an extended 3yr warranty, and got it replaced.

I bought mine on 1st day n it still works XD Lucky me, sorry to all others who got the error, actually these days the technology should be so good that this wouldnt happen but.... it still does :(

Not sure, I'm travelling this week, so only Monday I'll decide what to do.

But good think, I managed to remove my COD: MW2 from the inside thanks to a youtube tutorial.

I think I'll try to fix it using an heat pistol, if I'm unsuccessfully I'll send it to Sony or just get a slim one. :mad:

No, PCs can't read the file system of the PS3s, and if I put my HDD on a new one it will ask me to format it. Pretty stupid this, I should be able to just insert it on my new one and get all my stuff back :mad:

Welcome to my world, man. It pretty much sucks, and with my 60gb, you can't actually remove the disk when it's stuck inside the console.

I've gotta send mine off this week at some point. I really think it's bad that PS3's break, as I feel because they were in development for so long, they shouldn't break after like 3 years of use.

It's pretty bad, and then we have to go through the whole issue of sending it off and paying for repairs.

The console isn't cheap. Ah well, you're now in the brotherhood! :p

A few people were in it before me on here, as well.
