As far as I know, the T-Virus isnt gone, its only on the sidelines, Resident Evil Degeneration (movie) and Umbrella Chronicles both feature the T-Virus, and its more than likely that it will appear in another Resident Evil spin-off.

And the game isnt supposed to be about zombies so much as bio-hazardous outbreaks and survivors coping with them, the enemies may not be zombies in the traditional sense, but its all on the basis of technicality, the modern zombies are just mindless people as with traditional voodoo myths, and the only logical reason for deviating from rotting zombies is to make gameplay interesting, where is the fun in a game where your a super agent and your enemies are slow and shambling?

I would like a mixture of both TBH, as what umbrella tried to do with the T, T veronica and G virus was to have control over the subjects which was lacking in the zombies, They had slight control over Mr X/Nemesis ect but they wanted total control and the introduction of the las plagas (spelling?) brought that control.

I love my Typical RE games but also I am quite fond of the new style but a mixture of the both would be ideal IMO

As seen from the trailers they have the leech man? as seen first in outbreak series. This guy annoyed me so much but its what made level fun.

The ever popular chainsaw boss and more.

and original cast characters, with the new addons ofcourse.

from what i understand from the trailers and the rumours, this RE will be discovering the origin of the virus(es), where its being farmed from possibly, who is causing all these outbreaks of the virus?

i cant see whats really being missed out and whats making such a fuss to people.

sure i love the original REs (1+2) but you must understand there has to be story growth in order for the games to branch out, they cant just keep building raccoon city, kill zombies destroy the boss and fly away just to have city blown up again and start back at square one, if you want that i suggest you set goals on the original RE like use knife only, dont kill zombies.

for me this RE it looks promising, new weapons and co-op story play if im correct. that will keep me occupied for awhile.

I am loving the new style of enemies and viruses that the later Resident Evils contain. It gives a lot more variation rather than just fighting zombies all the time. Plus, I think it has given developers opportunities they never really had when it comes to the variation of different enemies. As long as it keeps slightly to its roots and by that I mean the horror genre along with the viral plot stories, then I am pretty much a happy man.

I also think Resident Evil needed a slightly new direction.

I think the t-virus was a far scarier concept, although i loved resident evil 4, you are entering a village which has already been infected i shall say and they are people you dont know nor care much about and can kill without too many worries

where as with the t-virus anyone infected, could be your best mate, your mum etc. becomes a zombie, and zombies are bloody scary (pardon the weak pun) so what they dont move as quickly, they are all rotten and broken and theres loads of em

they sort of tried it with resident evil 4 when leon is infected with the thingy egg but it didnt really develop into anything and it was a sort of, oh while we are escaping we shall use this convienantly placed machine to cure us, that and krauser was still capable of thinking, speech, personality etc.

that and a normal person is far less scary looking that a zombie, that is until a horrible parasite monster explodes from its head but even then it wasnt exactly a combat effective ability to have

and to be honest i found the scariest creature in 4 has that wierd regenating beast... which was slow and distgusting and rather zombie like, yes i understant that its not just about zombies but the fact that in these new games we keep going to already established outbreaks i shall say sort of takes away the Resident out of Evil

But like i said i loved resident evil 4 with a passion, mainly the beggining but that didnt seem as far fetched as it got later on when your in a castle etc.

To be honest the T-virus sounds more scary and seems to make a more horrified environment, but if I could choose my enemies I would prefer the Ganados, they are smarter and move faster, making them more challenging IMHO

A hybrid of both the T virus and the Grandos thingie ma jig would probably tick both boxes for me. I do concur that the T-Virus offers a much more horrific concept in comparison to the Las Plagas parasite.

You think virus and then you think pandemic all over the world, but I cant say you get the same reaction from a parasite. Nevertheless, both have their pluses.

this guy is right how can you play resident evil with idiots running round with wrenches the real t-virus was better if they dont wanna bring back the slow zombies at least use runners its crap with the real people

If you check the japan site, you will see they have posted up most viruses from previous games as a hint. And also, wait until the game is out. There are a few surprises in store ;)

Im sure the old viruses will be included. Thats been obviously hinted for a while now - I just dont think were going to get the traditional zombies back.

TC: Let me ask you a hardcore geek question. Theres some debate whether the infected in Resident Evil 5 are zombies or not. Where do you fall on that issue?

JS: The new version of the zombies are not dead, but they are infected with a virus. Its like a strange parasite that lives in their spinal cord, the majini. So theyre not really dead. When you blow their heads off, a giant scorpion...thing...is exposed as whats inside them. How its passed from one majini to another is by taking this parasite and forcing it down someone throat. Its an evolution for the zombies. They need it.

This is the official info ;)

Im only aware of the Las Plagas (or a variant) and the Progenitor. These two have been mentioned.

However, Im quite curious as to what the leech falls under. Im leaning towards the idea that its the Uroboros idea at its core; a leech-like organism. However, it could just be something else, old or new.
