In a rare act of charity, British sales outfit ChartTrack have teamed up with retailer GAME to provide total lifetime sales figures (ie all sales, not just GAME sales) for this generation of hardware.

And GUESS WHAT? The Wii is on top. Followed by the 360. Followed by the PS3. Shocking, surprising, the works, we know, we know. The figures, as of January 3 2009, are:

Wii - 4.9 million
360 - 3.2 million
PS3 - 1.9 million

Also provided were handheld sales figures.

DS - 8.8 million
PSP - 3.2 million

Already heard it.

The Wi has pretty much continuously been at the top and the 360 in 2nd place as well.

No surprises there. The Wiis new costumer market (makes no sense, lack the proper term in English) and with Sony both making stupid mistakes and having pretty bad luck when it comes to getting exclusive, its no wonder the 360 sold more.

Well ever since the x360 switched from being a mans consol to being a students console i have disliked it and the sales show that its not getting more people, just different ones

ps3 well until they stop playing the random is cool card i dont think sales will pick up

and wii, well everyone loves the instant fun it provides and its low price but there is no figures for how many people still play wii sports after a week
