I don t know if what I saw today was real or a creation of my mind...but it was most certainly something that any man, past or present, would fear in both the waking world and that of nightmares.

Upon taking the night shift at our local factory, I thought I would have a rather easy life. It is quite apparent that I will not be having a fun time watching over this dreadful place.

Everything started at around 2200 last night. I sat alone within the guard office, reading a large novel I had bought for the long nights, when suddenly noises started emanating from the surrounding grounds. At first I thought nothing of them, but things started to change after several minutes.

Perhaps it was just the late hour, or the graphic nature of the novel I was reading, but the sounds seemed as if they were not of any known creature of this earth.

After spending several more minutes sat in silence, I noticed that whatever was making this dreadful noise was steadily getting closer to the factory. I placed my novel on the nearest desk, grabbed my torch and my revolver, and went out to explore.

Never again shall I step onto the grounds of that factory on my own at night. Though the weather was quite calm that night, all the bushes and trees seemed to sway as if a strong winter breeze were blowing through them.

I raised my torch to the nearest boundary and was greeted with a momentary glint of animalistic eyes. Now, I have met many a stray animal and vagabond during my many years on this planet, but never have I seen eyes like that.

Though only a momentary glimpse, I wish never to see anything like that again.

I returned to my office at once and locked any door I could find a key for. For the rest of the night I sat in silence, listening to the guttural screams, moans, and barks of this nightmarish and ungodly creature.

Upon seeing the first few workers enter the grounds; I packed away my things and headed for home. As I write this, I prepare for my second shift at the factory. Tonight I am taking as many recording devices as I can get my hands on. I must discover just what this creature is, and then I will know just how to deal with it.

I pray to whichever god is listening to keep me safe.

The camera was not quick enough. They never are. I did, however, manage to record several of the creatures cries.

I am, however, thankful that I uttered my little prayer to the Universe before setting off. Whichever god was listening, it worked.

When the noises began, I started the recording and made my way onto the grounds. It was the same as last time. The bushes and trees appeared to twist and sway, though no wind blew, and the creature made its horrible noises.

I focused the torch on where the sound had come from, and was once again reminded of my primitive fears. This time, however, the creature did not move.

It locked its gaze upon me and remained in its stationary position. Never before have I been so afraid of silence, but last night I discovered the true meaning behind "a deathly silence."
The creature sat in silence for at least 20 minutes. Watching me with its ungodly eyes.

I raised my camera to take a shot of the creature, but it removed itself from my presence in the small moment it took me to raise the device to my eyes.

I am afraid that I cannot even give a description of the creature as its appearance evades me. All I can remember are those eyes. What terrible and unearthly eyes.

Very good indeed. Atmospheric without giving away too much detail. You should put more of your stories on a website or even look into getting a few self-published

My eventual goal is to get at least 1 book of short stories published.

I have 2 different short story books in the process.

Yeah.

1 book is very Lovecraftian based, which this story will be a part of.

the second book will be more based in this reality, but with a kind of Clive Barker twist.

Ive also been planning a fantasy series for several years, and Im working on another project with a friend.
