Bradley Smith has just tweeted he attended the Motogp 09/10 game launch today, any further info?
As far as I know we (in Netherland) will be able to buy it only after 18th of March

Bradley tweeted that it looked amazing and was "preety good" - any new game footage floating about, havn't seen anything new for a few months now? Surely a demo must be imminent.

Bradley was at the offical press event at Silverstone yesterday. And he's pretty blooming good at MotoGP 09/10 aswell!
He along with Steve Parrish and Monumental games met around 100 of the UK media who were treated to a tour of the new Silverstone circuit and for those brave enough a chance to wizz around the track on the back of one of the Yamaha MotoGP bikes.
Look out for coverage in magazines and websites over the coming weeks of the event.

I too was at the event as the winner of this forums competition.
Absolutely fantastic day was had by all.
The day consisted of arriving at Silverstone British Racing Drivers Club(BRDC) with a sign in for the riders and pillions.
After a short breakfast session we had the pleasure of a short Q+A session with Steve Parrish(BBC commentator and all round racing sepremo) with special guests being the British Moto GP contingent: Bradley Smith, Scott Redding and Danny Webb.
We were then split into our respective groups. Being a rider I got the chance to sample the game in the morning, so after a brief introduction by the Monumental chaps showing off the new game and features it was off to a console and play the game.(report on that below)
After about an hour or so of playing it we were then invited to go out to the Stowe Circuit where the California Superbike School had arranged sample tuition for those wishing to ride. I say sample, being a racer they said that there really wasnt much they could do in the current climate and limited time span(one 15 minute session). So Andy Ibbott (head honcho of CSS UK) just told me to go and have fun.
There wasnt any Moto GP bikes out there, not even for the pillion rides, but there was the choice of 4 bikes from Yamaha.
The R1, R6, FZ6 and Diversion 600.
I wanted to try the R1 but it was nabbed by someone else before i got the chance so the R6 was my weapon of choice. I have lots of experience with the slightly older 06 model where as this was the 09 version, not that there is much difference. It was good to get back on a bike though seeing as my last time was a cold and wet race weekend at Cadwell Park.
After this short session we headed back to the BRDC for a quick but very delicious lunch. We then had a quick talk from one of the chiefs at Silverstone regarding the track updates and modifications currently being undertaken.
We then piled into Mini buses and had a guided trip round the circuit.
Lots of work going on and a whole heap of investment ready for their new 17 year F1 and 5 year Moto GP contracts.
Got back to the BRDC and i managed to have a 10 minute chat with Bradley Smith and Steve Parrish.

The Game:
Right now i know you lot are really gonna be interested in this bit even if your not bothered about my jolly yesterday.
First impressions are very mixed to be honest. For a start its very easy to pick up and play. Its looks superb!!! They really have worked on the graphics for this title and you do get a more immersed feeling of being on track. 3d crowds and improved textures makes it a very pretty game indeed.
The rear view works well but due to the twitchyness of the controls it was incredibly hard to play from a cockpit view. I'm sure this can be tweaked by the guys in the guys in the studio and we'll see how it goes.
Riding the bike was nothing new, control mapping wasnt great to be honest as the rider up and down was on the same left stick used for steering, making the rider up and down very tricky mid corner. I will however say though that its not needed in this game as the main 'tuck in' button does that for you and also gives you the speed increase needed for competitive times. However, this 'tuck in' button takes some getting used to as once pressed the steering becomes less responsive and also doesnt allow you to carry full lean angle so you have to time your use of it very carefully otherwise you fail to make the exit of the corner. The controls of the bikes are very twitchy, too much and there wasnt any noticable stability increase when the speed increased either. This definately needs some work to make it more accesable for the masses and for the hardcore to be able to get to grips with it. It works well in all fairness, which isnt what i expected but it does show they are trying new things to please the mass market. Although subtle tweaks are needed just to allow precise control.
The new career part of the game certainly adds to the longevity of the game with nice features such as customizable bikes/riders/liveries etc. You also run your own team so you deal with the hiring and firing of team members, reasearch undertaken and the general direction your team goes.
Out on track with the bikes is really where we all are interested and sadly we only got to play the 'demo' version. Basically either 125's in a race weekend of time trialing an 800cc bike.
The bikes have a very different handling character to what we are all used to. It took a short while to become accustomed to it and there was still times when the bike reacts different to how you expect but this is down to a number of factors. Tyre slip, tuck in and brakes.
However the difficulty levels seems to make little or no difference to how the bikes are controlled. I think only the tyre wear increased as i went onto the hardest - 'Insane' difficulty level.
There will be some people out there who love this new way, as it does allow some pretty fancy riding, its not going to be everyones cup of tea.
You can back an 800cc bike into corners which was a neat touch, but its all down to the use of the rear brake and you have to be bang on with your inputs to make this work otherwise the bike seems to go in a different direction to expected. Not a bad thing just takes some getting used to and the fact i was mainly playing the 125's (due to a competiton to win a Tissot limited edition watch, worth £1500+) means i couldnt dedicate time to playing that mode more.
Its certainly gonna raise a few eyebrows as its head and shoulders above the last MotoGP 08 game. The additon of the career was much needed but for those who are wanting a precise simulation i'm afraid your gonna have to wait for something else to come along.
I do hope that now this forum has gotten onboard that we can continue to help Monumental as they really do appreciate what we're doing on here with them.
Thanks to Capcom and Monumental for the day yesterday and i look forward to seeing you guys at the end of Feb for the inhouse testing and multiplayer part of the game.

That was a great read Dutch (massively jelous)! Nice shot of yourself and the future MotoGP Champion there, one for the mantle peice in a few years no doubt!
Did they let slip on any info regarding demo content/release date etc?
Would you say the handling was more comparable to 07 or is it a whole new ball game?

It was a fantastic day and massive thanks to all who got that sorted.
I dont wish to spoil it for those visiting in the end of february but the handling is different to anything. It has got aspects of 07, but then it also has aspects of 08.
To be brutally honest the idea of the handling is very good, its just doesnt translate very well with a controller. I think if they can slow don the initial titchyness and make if less responsive at speed(eg: how it happens) then it is indeed a good package.
That said, its not a sim, not enough rider control(seeing as we have pretty much agreed about being able to move left and right with rider independant to bike) and the tuck in feature just doesnt work well for me but then others may think its an improvement only having one button to worry about instead of a stick.

Everyone ive spoken to has been against the whole idea of this additional tuck in button since it was first announced, the left thumbstick has addequately served this purpose for years - if it aint broke, dont fix it! - but monumental decided to run with the idea anyways, so we'll see. Hopefully you can just map it back over to the left thumbstick :thumb: but I doubt it.
So the bike seems quite twitchey at highspeeds, that dosn't sound too good, can't say ive ever ridden a bike that was twitchey at high speeds, and if it had been, I certainly wouldnt of ridden it a second time!
When you grasp the controls of a new game and get to grips with tracks and lines etc - you want to appear to flow round the track - not look all jerky and twitchey. I feel the SBK games suffer majorly from this and as a result firmly ended up in the bargain bin.
Did you get chance to investigate bike settings at all Dutch? Is there much room for tweaking?

No it was pretty much a demo that we played and there was no 'tweaking' available.
Seeing the game presented by Monumental showed the configs and tweaking available but there is only a limited amount of control variables, its not gonna be fully customizable i know that for 100%
As for the stability, yes its an issue. the bike seems to react the same at low and high speed, the only time does it slow down is when you press the tuck in button and it really does slow it down but also you cant run full lean angle when tucked in so its a case of tucking in at the correct moment on the exit of the corner. Works well and you have to time it well but then bike racing is all about timing.
Great read Dutch, interesting feedback :thumb:
