For me, its all about getting ready for MHFU now. What Id like to ask those of you already far into 2G is, what do you recommend I focus on? Are there jewels you think are important? Which weapons are you using the most? What should I have ready to go from the start? Are there armour sets youve continued to use, or does the new Kut Ku armour beat the old Akantor? Are there new training quests? Should I get the Barrage Piercing helm now because it becomes more difficult to obtain later?

The new trainings are G rank ones and to unlock certain missions you will need to do all battle taining, all special training and one of each g rank (yea, there that hard they one ask for only one) might as well get BP now as its the same later but you have the time now to focus on it
As for armours, you can still use akantor and what not for a while then move on to the better ones as per usual
Great sword is now used differantly (for those who follow trends) no longer do you flail or charge up but instead utilise a cool new skill (note this skill works best for low affinity and high attack power weapons go out and make diablos great sword now)
Poison weapons get a bit of a boost as far as i have noticed might be imagination
Theres not that much you can do really apart from getting rare ores and such cause all the stuff you need you can anly get in 2g, so i just recomend training and diablos great sword if youre into great swords
I suppose make powerful fire weapons as ninja rat and sleepy bird share a heavy weakness to fire
make as many powerful weapons as possible as some of them have amazing new upgrades (ultimate heaven and earth for example)
Oh and rubies and plates are a bit more difficult to get in 2g so stock pile em now

The same as in old MH s, gettin items, makin better weapons/armors, learning the new movements ( yes, on G rank EVERY monster has new moves, even the old ones from MH1 ), learning the new areas n where to get which items.
Are there jewels you think are important?
Jewels or ores ? Jewels .... the baby blue ones ( last ores u get in game are rare, u need to slay big monsters for them, so keep them to upgrade ur favorite armor, the best armor is Moribalken Z armor ( Crimson Fatalis Z ).
Which weapons are you using the most?
The most i used Shield and Sword ( over 600 quests ), its my favorite weapon type on PSP, good attack and fast. Also i used Katana a lot ( Long Sword ), Duals, Bows, Greatsword vs some enemies ( Gravios, Volganos ), Light Bowgun vs any Fatalis. I always hated hammers and huntin horns, and still do.
What should I have ready to go from the start?
A good weapon, a decent armor and skill lol. The G class is nothin u cant beat, but harder than everythin uve killed before. Especially Gravios, its almost unkillable when ur alone ( too much health ). Maybe theyll fix that for the europeans.

I started from new ( 2nd G ), and i went like this : Beginning armor ( the one u have in box ) -> Dodobrango armor -> Dodobrango S -> Silver Los S -> Volganos X -> Silver Los Z -> Volganos X Gunner -> Miraruuts Z ( White Fatalis ) -> Moribalken Z ( Crimson Fatalis Z ). But actually, u can beat the akamu with a Kutku armor. When u killed Ukamurubasu ( Last Monster in 2nd G ), u unlock that u can upgade all of ur armors more than in Portable 2. So even in a Pirate armor ull have 600 defense.
Are there new training quests?
Yes, there r G training Quests now. 8 in total, u need to do them to unlock G-ranked Fatalis. Hypnock, NarugaKaruga, Rahjan, Babakonga, 2 x Crab, Dodobrango and another one i cant remember atm.
Should I get the Barrage Piercing helm now because it becomes more difficult to obtain later?
Since i never played the PSP series in german or english, i dont know what u mean ^^ So i cant help u with this one, sorry. The only thing i can say, i never needed any piercing in he game.

Barrage Piercing and SSP are obtained the same way, nothing more difficult. If you would ask me, I found the MHP2G trainings a bit easier.
Some armors got nerfed (like Ceanataur) so dont depend to heavily on them.
Any new weapon types?
What LS should I look to get first?
