$140 for the limited edition makes sense. Not for the standard though. Something Tenebra may know more about actually.

As you probably know, were not able to fix retail prices, retailers are pretty much free to sell games at whatever price they wish.

However, the price is for NZ and appears to be in line with other releases, see Game Station NZ site http://www.gamestation.co.nz/

In AUS stores like EB over-price and sell standard editions for up to $AU119 sometimes.

So, being Street Fighter, I think $140 might very well be a standard edition price. EB AUS selling standard for $119.

JB Hi-Fi is selling Collectors for $200. Which is why I dont think $140 will be Collector edition price.

But you dont have to buy from your country. Your system is the same as ours here in AUS. So just shop around UK stores online. You are pretty much guaranteed to find games up to $20-$40 cheaper than if you buy from EB. And thats including the shipping fee.

They are NOT in line with New Zealand pricing. Before the release of Fallout 3 the most expensive standard edition games were $130 (most 3rd party multiplatmium games) first party games were between $89 and $100 for Xbox and $99 and $119 for PS3. Since fallout 3 was released at $140 ONE other game has been release at $140 and that was Mortal Combat vs DC. BOTH games failed to make the top 10 on the NZ charts. BOTH games are disturbed by gamewizz gamewizz.co.nz. Infact Mortal Combat VS DC only sold 100 copies at 140 and fallout 3 was abit more with 200. In a country where there are 1.2 PS2 per household thats very low. When I emailed gamewizz they told me that CAPCOM has raised the price at which they pay for there games by $10 and so passed on the cost.

It is NOT the standard price, it hasnt been the standard price since the 80s.

Gamestation was bought out by EB last year as well as gamesman. Eb it self was bought out by Gamestop earlier in the year.

While you cant fix the price you have raised the RRP by $20.

Edit one:

How is it the standard price? The only games that cost $130 or more are imports, special editions or games that are have a guitar or other controllers.

Coming from Australia and working at a games store (Im not naming it online) I can say that they arent overpriced and are the local publishers recommended retail price. The collectors price is the same at EBGames and GAME too, I am thinking its either a placeholder price (I know for a fact some stores use it as a placeholder price) or it is the real price.

NZ always gets the short end of the stick though

Ill be honest, its worth it. Thats coming from just playing the arcade version of the game which is bare bones compared to the console version. Saying that, it still is fairly high to pay for any game so I would still rather import it if it worked out cheaper.

I figured it was worth it already anyway =P Its still one of the most expensive games to hit our market down here.

To be honest it sounds like it was just affected by the vigorously fluctuating exchange rates...

Standard price in UK =39.99GBP = 105NZD

Okay its a bit more expensive but look at where youd think would be cheaper

Standard price in Japan = 8390JPY = 155NZD

So you are not paying the most really, considering how many will sell there.

Besides, Im sure you can do better than buying it at RRP.

Yea but generally, EB is selling regular editions at $99-$119

Where store like Big W and Kmart sell at $80-$99. JB will be as low as the $70 range.

EB was selling second hand games at $99-$199

I cant comment on GAME much, there isnt one near me. But their prices were ok when I shopped there before the PS3/360 times.

In the end its cheaper to import games.

Hope it is :D, EB selling regular for $119.

EB needs to GTFO of AUS, they arent needed here. All they do is rip people off. They had a deal before where you trade in a 60gb PS3 +$200 + 4 games for a 80 GB PS3. Yet they sell 80GB brand new for $700, and 60GB second hand for $730.

What the people of Australia need to do is collectively contact consumer affairs about their dodgy practice if they pull crap like that again.

BTW EB has announced the price for collectors, its $200.

Game.co.uk has increased the price of SF4 collectors by about $2 to $70 which is about $AU140 or so. In the end, its still much cheaper to import.
