View Full Version : Steel Battalion
First of all, hi to all!
Im here to ask about Steel battalion, for me one of the best game ever.
Im really courios to know if capcom is plannig a sequel on next-gen console.
One of the weakest point of this title was the retail price (and also a not optimized netcode). But now with games like Guitar hero world tour or rokband, the price of over 200$ for a game and is dedicated controller is not a tab— any more.
So why do not replay a such huge title?
In my country (italy) was sold out very fast, and i really hope to can play again one of the most innovative and beautiful game ive ever played.
Was definitely game of the year for me when the online version came out, such a complicated but great game with elements of MMO in it.
Never had heard of it, but Ive looked in wikipedia and liked what I saw... The controller seems to be very, very big...
Not only the controller (that was awsome), in the online mode you take a faction, and for one month you fight for that faction. Every win you take, help your faction to gain a piece of territory on the map. At the end of the month one fatcion wins (and you gain extra money for buing new mech or spare parts). You can personalize your mech, you can gain special parts during the fight, and you can decide to sell o exchange parts, mech and so on with other people.
Totally simulative gameplay and the wonderfull controller make the rest.
I really miss this game
This is the controller:

Please Capcom give us another Steel Battalion
That reminds me of some books I used to read, BattleTech (http://www.amazon.com/Decision-Thunder-Battletech-Death-Legion/dp/0931787696)...
I always imagined myself controlling one of those things, and those pictures you posted look pretty much my dreams at that time... Im sure you had a lot of fun with that game, is your controller now broken, or you can still play it if you want?
The only part I dont like is the one month thing, having to spend one month to get to an objective seems excessive to me, but Im sure I would forget that as soon as I turned on the Mech and placed my hands on the joystick... Should be an awesome experience, Ive looked into Mech games, but they had such bad reviews that I havent looked at them for more than a few seconds...
Bring a new game, for PS3 too, and Ill have to change a few things on my bedroom to accommodate the controller :D

The online campaign is offline since 30 sept. 2005, but you can still play in free mode and of course in single player (or in system link).
Unfortunately mi old xbox died years aog, and so ive never played this game again.
The online campaing was really awesome.. one month flew away really fast
Ive found this rumor: http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3171905
Game company C is reportedly prepping an Xbox 360 sequel to original Xbox game S, famous for its gigantic limited edition controller. The 360 version of the controller is said to be wireless.
... maybe we have one hope
Seems to be no more than a rumour, but thats something
No PS3 version, :(
Hope you can come back in a year or two claiming it was true and telling how good the game is ;)
