Afternoon All,
To celebrate the launch of TvC we're running yet another one of our ace competitions!
We are asking you to design and create your very own Capcom vs fighting series character! Submit your drawing in this thread and we'll choose the three most creative entries.

Some prizes will be signed by TvC producer Niitsuma-San
1st : Mad Catz Tournament stick, Signed sweatshirt, signed T shirt, poster and copy of the game
2nd : Mad Catz stick, copy of the game, signed T shirt and poster

I'm guessing it's for the Wii stick with the very nice TVC artwork on it.
I've got no shortage of Original Characters to try and submit to this, so I might give it a crack later in the week~
It's kind of a weird competition though. One of the most fun parts of the VS games is to see Capcom guys duking it out with established franchises and visa versa. I dont think I'll find Ryu versus some random guy created by some other random guy terribly exciting.
Is it ok to submit an entry but ship it to someone else who is over 16 and he can confirm the details? or should I just ask him to create a Capcom-Europe forum account and submit through him?

We'll award the prizes to whoever submits them - providing they're 16 or over. So in answer to your question you'll need somebody 16+ to submit your entry.

for 2nd and 3rd right? because thats a standard edition, a tournament edition is much bigger physically. Have you made a mistake and all 3 prizes will feature that stick or is there a proper tournament edition available for 1st place and if so do you have answers to my original questions?

OK, What if one only design includes two characters?, I have a boiling idea about a 2 players team mostly based on their special combo together wich makes any of them pointless by itself, Can I include both characters as a team in one design?
I put my design into the subbmissions thread last night (although I might revise it slightly if I get the chance).
This is the first time I've ever entered a competition like this so I've got my fingers crossed (although I've never won anything so I won't be too optimistic lol).
My character is a bit random but I tried to think of something different that might somehow fit into the Vs world.

Aww, I'm really happy right now!
For once, something I'm working on is coming out well, and looking pretty awesome. I just need to finish the clothing details, and then get to the colouring. After that point, I'll be well on my way to having it finished!
I'm putting a lot of work into it. :D

Hehe, you don't know how hard I've been working on mine. My bedroom is like a secret drawing lab, and as I like a belt buckle that I've designed for my character so much, I'm going to buy some Fimo clay tomorrow, and make my own one. XD
Still got a way to go, but I've put 4 - 5 hours into it so far. When you submitting yours, Mr.Charming?

Yea, I think if you do it right, you can thread metal through modelling clay, and when hardened, the metal will stay in it. That's the idea, at least. :p
I'm hoping I'll have my image done at the very latest by saturday. Have you started yours yet?
I still have to do some mock up designs, to see which colours go best for the costume I want to draw, and which costume looks best.
I can't even think of a name at the minute, for my made up series or character. :/

I got some sketches but nothing really concrete. In all honesty I feel bad about spending so much time on it, when I could be coding my game project. :p
We could work together and cut the prize in two so we both could play with the Sticks. Use our combined creativity to slay the beast!

I've still gotta draw different kinds of apparel on paper, to see which looks best on my character.
I'd love tatsunoko and the fight stick.....maybe then it won't matter if I'm not allowed to use a d-pad at tournaments. So lame. :(
what tournaments are u off to then nik?? dont worry no ones going to ban u from playing on a pad, since sf4 lots of excellent players use pad

Mao banned me from using it at the Capcom Xmas Party lol, which is why I sucked so much.
I can use the d-pad on the wii, the gamecube and the PS3, just not on the 360, but I was forced to use the analogue then, which is why I knew I'd lose even before the fight begun.
Was glad you and everyone else was backing me though. I just failed, ha.

It's open til midnight tomorrow, and I guess the winners will be announced within two weeks of the competition ending. :)
It's normally pretty fast.
I've added a move diagram to my entry and edited my original post rather than posting a brand new post for it.

Doh, you've done another submission. I can't colour that well, and you've spent no time at all in knocking up another decent entry.
I've spent 12 hours so far on mine alone, and still need to draw his boots in, colour them, and add the effects.
Plus, I need to type up a backstory as such, explaining what he's to do with, his moves and what his weapons actually do.
I really want to win in this, and would be more than happy to come third, but there are so many entries, so I have a lot of luck needed with this.
I've tried my best though, and for once, something has come out looking better than what I can normally do from my own head. I actually managed to get idea's on paper for once.

Lol, please don't expect a masterpiece. It's my best work so far (from my head at least), so I'm happy in that sense, but it's nowhere near as good as Dante's, Clay's or T-Vairus' (wow btw). :(
I had to work out lighting, and I don't blend on the same layers either, as I don't want to run the risk of messing it up, and not being able to change it. :(
Not long though, guys!
Halfway through colouring the boots, but don't know what to do with them, so am just winging it. I might texture them a little, as I did that with his suit.

I really can't colour well, but thankfully for some reason, it came out pretty well. In fact, it's the best effort from my head that I've ever done.
The story though....gah! I just had to read through it all again to spell check it, as I was winging it, and wanted to explain everything you can see about him, as well as some back story, and his motives.

I made up all of the moves, too, and I think only one of them is an existing move, and that was the three energy balls.
I wish I was as good as you, but I'm really happy with my entry, and have put my heart and soul into it. At last it's over, after 15 hours of work, and almost 200 layers. O_o

'Baird' looks awesome! I could really see him fit into the SSFIV universe! ...plus his art style looks as good as any concept art I've seen done by Udon etc.
'Captain Curator' is probably my next fav entry. He looks well drawn but I just like the whole concept of his character with his moves and the pixel brush.
'Se Young' looks amazing to me to. Brilliantly illustrated and coloured.
All round good stuff though people. :mexwave:
I think it will be a very tough choice for Capcom to pick out the winners!

Awww, I really didn't want people to get hyped by my entry, as I made it clear I'm not usually great at colouring. Nobody has shown me how, so it's always just experimental stuff that I do.
I had to play about with lighting in this one, too, and I haven't ever tried that before.
You should be able to see it after work hopefully. :p
Mine's based on the more Tatsunoko side of character art. I wanted to go for a kind of animé feel, and only one or two others have gone for that. I like the thin character design, with bulky accessories.
Hopefully you won't be disappointed when you finally see it.

Ai!Ai!Ai! Senor el capitan Nik, me gusta el blue theme in your character.My condolences for lady Felicia.
I am very impressed with everyone's drawings but even more for the ones done on paper such as AlienHunter's funky disco dude and thirdenergy's Power ranger look alike all action man. It makes me feel like that old movie about the cop that ends up in the future, but I really like pencil drawings. It is their small faults and uneven coloured areas that make it so much more exciting and human.I do not want to offend anyone as it is just my opinion... :)

I'm glad you like the blue colour throughout. That's for the story, I tried to ask my friends verdict, and some didn't want to read the massive wall of text, haha. It made me sad.
I love pencil drawings too, but it's easier playing around with colours on the computer. Mine had a lot of sketch marks around it, but I cleaned most that I could see, up.
There's a really mad amount of awesome entries, so it'll be hard for a winner to be picked.

Yeah I really tried to come up with something unique and interesting with my entry. Something that pays homage to Capcom's rich history and amazing 2D spritework that inspired my work from an early age.
I pretty much agree with you on 2 of my favs: Baird and Se Young. I like mine too, but with so many equally awesome entries it's really anyones game at this point.
While there are some amazing pieces on a technically artistic standpoint there are also alot fantastically creative entries that really push the boundaries of imagination. Like I said before, I'd love to see a fighting game with alot of these entries just to see each concept working in game.
I think Capcom will have a tough time judging this one
