I had this idea whilst shaving earlier on. It will probably die off but it's worth a try.

So is there anything in life that your just not that good at? Like me I suck at shaving, I have never once shaved without cutting myself. So the premise of this thread is if your not very good at something ask about it.

So let me start it off. How the hell can I shave without cutting myself? HOW?!

Use a sharper/newer blade. Might just make you cut yourself more though, depending on just how bad you are :s

I'm no good at making websites via XAMPP Lite. Any tips?

What do you use for shaving? A kitchen knife? :D

Im not good at... currently school, chemistry - 4(D), physics - 4, math - 4, biology - 4, i just suck big time and im not very proud of it. We have a 1-5 scale of grades, i dont know how its in UK.

What sort of blade are you using? If you use a cheap one, they'll often end with you being cut to shreds.

But an expensive one should run smoothly...but they;re expensive to replace the blades for.

This is why I switched to an electric shaver. Gets it over and done with, without any blood.

As for me?

I suck at sorting myself out. I mean...I'm really quite good at helping out other people, giving them what they need...but as soon as it comes down to taking care of myself? I fail miserably.

I'll help other people study for an exam, but forget to study for my exams.

I'll help other people get medical care, but I'll ignore any medical problems I have.

Any advice?

Nah, that's far too blunt. He must use a meat cleaver! :p

I have one answer for you Joe, and that is: An electric shaver. It's impossible to cut yourself on one of those!

I was being completely moronic once, and pushed mine against my face as hard as I could, and it gave me the strangest feeling shave, but it was the closest one ever, and it didn't do any damage to my skin, or draw blood.

That's your answer! :p

Boba - Believe in yourself, and know your own capabilities. Then, you'll go far in life. ;)

My problem is beyond repair:

Keeping girlfriends. It doesn't matter how much they say they're into me, as they always leave me for someone else, or cheat on me.

This is why I haven't slept with anyone, and refuse to, as I won't allow myself to be used. I want to find someone who truly loves me, who I can love back, as otherwise there's no point to it all.

The last 6 girls I've been with have all done it, and I know it's not me, as I've blamed myself for too long, and tried to change everything about myself at times, just to see if there was a different outcome. There wasn't.

Problem is, it's now happened so frequently that it's effected me mentally (I was already insane, but now I've lost the plot, lol), and as a result, as soon as a girl even shows interest in me (by flirting, hugging, kissing, complimenting), I immediately don't trust them, and back away from them.

Trouble now is that I haven't been attracting any of the girls I'd like to recently, and the ones that I do attract, I'm not attracted to myself.

If a girl has a great personality and a nice face, that's generally fine for me, but no, it's all of the wrong girls lol.

To be honest, I don't even know if I want a girlfriend anymore, as I know you can't generalise and say every person is the same, but it seems odd that the last 6 girls (over a period of 2 years) have all done that to me.

It's disheartened me enough, and actually completely got rid of the majority of my feelings, and they are what I've been fighting for. It's so hard living without feeling anything for anyone, and it's not nice to have to admit that either.

At the end of the day, it just leaves me feeling like an emotionless robot, and I struggle to have feelings towards even my family and closest friends. I can only hope that one day, I'll feel human again, as I'm tired of the same stupid emotionless thing, day in and day out.

That's for girls, I really don't mean to soundlike I'm picking on you, but the only ones I trust are people I'd class as friends, and see no potential romance in.

I'm one messed up boy, haha. Ah well.

Shaving solution - buy clippers. It saves a fortune in blades (better for the environment) and shaving foam, it doesn't dry your face out, and stubble means you can get away with clipping once a week. Also, do the maths, if a shave lasts 5 minutes that means you waste 30 hours a year shaving - if you lived to a hundred that'd be 4.5 months of your life spent removing tiny hairs from your mush. People thinking I'm lazy, but really I'm just allotting my time on the planet to more important pursuits. I haven't had a proper shave in about 4 years now, I reckon this has given me 104 hours extra sleep :)

Laziness = efficiency

Cortez, don't worry about finding the right girl, just go about enjoying your life and go do everything you've ever wanted to try like hobbies, travel, whatever. When you're enjoying yourself the most you tend to attract people - they always want a slice of the happiness :) You'll probably meet the right girl when you least expect it, like they say, a watched pot never boils :P.

My philosophy in life is that a problem is only worth worrying about if you can change it. If you can't change it isn't worth worrying about, just learn to live with it and get on with living. Big world out there to enjoy :D

Things I suck at - organisation, keeping track of bills, drawing/photography/arty stuff in general, any sport involving a ball, parking cars, tidying, mental arithmetic, singing, staying in touch with friends, giving advice on forums...

Yea, I do that anyway dude, but it's always a thought in the back of my mind, as it's what I've had my heart set on all of my life. :/

I'll be happy when a girl treats me nicely, instead of thinking I'm hot, and then either only wanting to make out with me for one night, or deciding to string me along or something.

So yea, I'm hoping my luck will change on that front, but I'm loving my luck with winning things. I swear it's the name CaptainCortez which brings me fortune......it is the name of a Conquistador afterall. :p

I'm off to london tomorrow, on really short notice. Been invited to play MAG for Eurogamer, and if I'm one of the first 64 people to get there, I get a free limited edition copy of the game! Plus there's lots of awesome food and drink.

Only problem is, I haven't played it yet, but I'm rad at MW2, so should pick up easily on it. Now all I need is a working PS3 again!

Also, that's a lot of things to be concerned about, Iain!

Artsy stuff I'd say you're pretty good. Just look at the Capcom Christmas Calendar (the three c's of christmas)! XD

MAG plays more like battlefield than it does MW2. I played the beta when it was available and I was semi impressed. I never got into the 256 player mode but my friend did and he said it was pretty expletive deleted awesome.

I seem to suck at sleeping and comitting to playing one game at a time, or at least 1000 pointing my 360 games (got about 4 I need to finish 1-3 achievements to total them). Oh and not trolling facebook, I seem to be on there all the time now as if I have nothing better to do

For a razor if you're using blades, I'd recommend not hugely cheap ones. I know I'm a girl and all, but we need them too. I'd say stay away from disposable ones as they're cheap and cut you easily, or at least that's what I've found.

I only know about making websites with in php/html not entirely sure what XAMPP Lite is.

For school all I can recommend is focus, I wasn't as good as I would have liked to of been in school, but it was down to the fact that I didn't enjoy the lessons too much. The second I did enjoy them I was getting A's (only media studies however)and stuff, so I've personally found it's down to interest.

When it comes to putting other people first, you just have to be mean sometimes and tell them that you're sorting yourself out, be selfish every once in a while ^__^.

Cortez, I have no idea what to suggest to sit back and find out about girls who you might be interested in, build a friendship, maybe then they won't totally suck. Or maybe you just don't have very nice girls round your area.

In terms of organisation I find it best to make lists and schedules, at least then you don't forget things as easily and you can cross them off when done. I do these in every way possible (tasks in outlook, make a schedule planner on paper, make a schedule in excel, list application on phone) so many different ways to try and stay organised.

Keeping track of bills i recommend making an excel sheet, that you keep on your desktop, you can then keep track of them all by putting them in the second they appear and are paid.

Sports and art stuff are all down to practice, if you have a DSi buy Art Academy, it helps teach the basics of drawing and painting principles, and the lovely Calyonite worked on them too!

Sleeping, all I can recommend is making yourself going to bed at a set time and wake up in the morning when you need to, after that for a few weeks with myself I'm drilled into the schedule and generally wake up a few minutes before my alarm. But everyone is different when it comes to sleeping patterns.
As for sticking to games, make a list (in excel, it's like I'm advertising it!) of all the games you wish to complete, and if there's gamerscore involved list the amount you can get from it. Then you can put them in order of either, how much you want to play them, how close you are to the end or how much gamerscore you get.

I seem to suck at sticking to things, recently I decided to learn to drive, however I don't know which driving schools are best in my area, so that seems to have been put off slightly (and the weather had as well).
I had the idea of joining a womens rugby club as I was given a leaflet about it, but it's quite far away and I'd have to go there after a long day's work.
I really want to get into shape, but all the things I looked into were not that close in proximity to me. I need to sort it out, but I can't really figure out any way to, other than building up a little more confidence, to give myself that extra push to do these things...

Ah, XAMPP Lite is a practice environment for making database websites. It uses MySQL, PHP and HTML. All I can't figure out is where I find my website so I can chuck it on my memory stick. I've looked all over...

@Cortez, Iain is kind of right, love just kind of happens sometimes. It rarely announces itself.

Just say what's on yuor mind. I do, and the worst that can happen is getting modded, people thinking you're not right in the head or ignoring you ;)

In that case, I'd guess it's holding the whole lot in a compressed proprietary file to that program. You probably have to choose to export to the raw files.

*edit* actually, maybe not. I just checked it out and it's made by the people who make Apache. That looks like it could be really useful (even though I installed all that stuff a week ago)

XAMPP Lite is more than sufficient for most work; the full version has stuff like a FTP server I doubt most people would really need. An alternative is also WAMP. The default folder for all of the web files is named 'htdocs' within XAMPP's installed folder.

I'm having a huge amount of difficulty making myself go to school right now. Somewhat frustrated and annoyed due to the fact that of all the subjects I'm doing right now, none of them are actually related to what I WANT to do, and it's killing my motivation due to the fact it feels pointless.

i don't use razors anymore, i use an electric beard trimmer wich is excellent to keep side burns trimmed and a more "LOST" look :D

anyway, i suck in showing my feeling to others..i already lost my girlfriend for this reason..
i tried to stop thinking about this problem with her behind study and homework, so in this way i now have excellent marks but i'm single again with relationship problems.

Thx cortez but im acctualy one of the happiest persons i know :D. The fact that my grades are bad doesnt mean im frustrated, im more frustrated that i cant beat the 4th titan challenge in god of war II :D. Believing in yourself doesnt mean you´ll have better marks in school, im just lazy and i dont feel like learning crap i wont use in real life :)

About the razors, i use really cheap ones, you know, those one-use bundles with like 6 of them(but i use like 10x the same one till its completely blunt :D) and i wont get cut. Unless of course you mean only razors for face. Mother nature granted me a very slow rate of growing beard so those cheap one-use razors are completely fine for me :).
I like how this topic is more about razors than anything else hehe

Hmmm I shave with a Gillette Fusion, I even use cold water, as I have been told that keeps the blade sharper. Maybe it's just my face. I always knew there was something wrong with my face.

@Cat: I find the key to sticking to something is either enjoyment, or something that compliments something you enjoy. For example I hate the gym, but I go because I love playing basketball, and the fitter I am the better I play and the more fun it is.

@Cortez: Love is easy, lol just give up on it. I did and then my girlfriend found me. Now we have been together for 2 years. <<Scary! And if you feel like an emotional robot try thinking about how you feel about friend and family, must feel something there.

@Boba: Come on man school sucks, and all education systems seem to teach you things you will never need. But it's important. (God I sound old).

I have recently discovered I am even worse than I thought at looking after my car. Im pretty sure it will die soon. Poor car!

Ah, thanks guys! I've recently asked around my classmates, and someone finally had the answer that I just read on here. The files need to be taken from the MySQL folder and put in the htdocs folder, so that I can put the website on the uni server.

Thanks a lot :D

Find someone else who does the same? ....maybe?
Or, for studying there´s another solution: help someone who does the same exams you need to do.

things i'm bad at:sports, talking, typing comments in forums(i spend like 20 minutes on one comment thinking if i should post whats on my mind or not)

That last thing is not a problem, I think. It´s actually really good. Some people just write (and say) everything they think, and later regret it (or don´t... which is sometimes even worse)
Talking is really just practice. It´s kind of stupid, when you´re bad at it, you don´t want to do it, but you need to, because it´s just different from writing (although training that helps a bit), you just have a lot more time without someone who´s expecting an answer.

I seem to suck at sticking to things, recently I decided to learn to drive, however I don't know which driving schools are best in my area, so that seems to have been put off slightly (and the weather had as well).

Make a schedule in excel..?
Seriously, if it helps with sticking to games, why not with everything else you want to do?^^
Or.. just do it right now, stop reading, and go look for a good driving school...
GO, CATMOO!:mexwave:
...i hope that doesn´t sound too much like a quote from a pokemon movie

anyway, i suck in showing my feeling to others..i already lost my girlfriend for this reason..

Some people need very much "feeling" as far as I know. So, maybe she just wasn´t the right person for you, and the problem wasn´t that you can´t show any feeling, it just was not enough for her.
Or, there´s really some barrier you need to break, but you can only find that out yourself, I guess.

Keeping girlfriends. It doesn't matter how much they say they're into me, as they always leave me for someone else, or cheat on me.

Maybe they aren´t even looking for someone to keep for very long. I suppose your girfriends are about the same age as you are, and from what I hear (^^') people don´t stay together very long in that age.
It could work, if you look for someone who wants to have a relationship for a longer time, perhaps on one of these online dating websites. A friend of mine gave me a link once, because I had no girlfriend, but I kind of lost it (was for a German one anyway I think).

which also gets us to my problem. I didn´t even once use that link, because.. let´s face it, I´m quite a coward when it comes to getting close to people.
I don´t expect solutions here though, to be honest, because I myself haven´t got any idea what´s the cause of it^^

Catmoo, if you are reading this, you already looked for a driving school I presume?^^

And, Somari, I spent a few hours on this post (and I will still regret writing it, but that´s another story), but I think it was worth the thinking (somehow)

Also, quite the cool thread idea, Sky Dragon.

At last, sorry for the huge size of this post, hopefully I didn´t sound too stupid while giving advice like this (usually i do, so I guess I did, but... well... it´s just my opinion by the way, not advices that work 100%, but I guess that´s obvious)
