Heads up for you crazy hardcore Resi Evil fans - were currently organising a first-to-play event (most probably in our London offices) where 30 lucky peeps from this community will be able to play quite a nice part of the game (not just the demo, nononono) in co-op mode, a month before release (so that you can experience the game awesomeness for yourself and tell your mates how cool you are b)). There might even be some pizza, who knows.
Dates TBC but likely to be 11th-13th Feb.
Full details in Jan, so watch out!

Thats an incredible chance as it is well over a month from launch and if there is enough space for everyone count me in. I played it at Eurogamer and did it surprise me in so many ways. The controls were odd at first but really intuitive after a while for using the different attacks and the partner actions were really cool to pull off. I nearly let poor Sheva get munched by one of the mad villagers because my sniper scope went too far from it. :)
I know that I am late but having just seen the boxart for it I have to say that it is very different from the others and rather fetching to the eye. Also I still havent gotten round to trying that disk trick with the demo. :P
When you are able to tell us about any plans about a special edition for it like the Japanese version could you tell us please?

Charmed, Im still waiting for the final info on the collectors edition. Ill do some poking when Im back in the office on the 5th Jan - I sit next to Almighty RE Man for Europe ;)
TZM, for the moment expressing interest will give me an idea of how many people are up for the event, then Ill take it from there. If there are 36 requests for 30 places I might squeeze some extra people in, if there are 200 we might have to set up some criteria - be 15 guaranteed places for old members and 15 for new comers as a draw or whatever seems fair.

Having the knowledge (and collection) that I do, Id love to sit and talk with the guy (though I bet he gets bored of the series tbh).
But yeah, if possible, sign me up for the idea. My entire February is free of assignment hand-in dates, so Im sure I can miss one or two days to do this (and would happily do so). Especially if it gave me the chance to just meet people, etc.

Righto, more details as promised.
The event is definitely going ahead, confirmed at our London offices in sunny Hammersmith from Wed 11th to Fri 13th (how very appropriate :p).
Two session of 10 players per day, morning session will be from 11am to 1pm, afternoon session will be from 2.30pm to 4.30pm (each session will have pizza, before you ask). People will have the chance to play the 360 version in co-op mode with other players in the session and no, it wont be the demo that well be showing.
I have reserved 30 places for our community, the rest will go to other forums Im talking to. People who are interested in attending the event will have to make their way to our offices at their expenses (we might be able to give a small contribution towards travel but Im not in a position to confirm at the moment).
How to apply for a space:
* Given the game rating, you must be 18 years old +
* Apply in this thread, indicating which day/session youd like to attend and any alternatives
* If the applications significantly exceed the number of places available, spaces will be allocated with a draw, however 5 spaces are reserved for active members of this community (at Capcoms discrection)
If you manage to grab a place but your circumstances change and youre unable to attend, please let me know asap so that we can fill in the empty space.

I am 22, as you should be aware :P And I can do any of the 3 days available, but I will keep you updated if anything changes.
I will need directions, really badly...because getting lost is somewhat of a habit for me. Id be coming from Southampton Central Train Station.
Id prefer to leave picking a day for the moment, as I would honestly like to make sure that I get to visit on the same day as somebody on the forum that I am familiar with (such as Parjay, Dante, Spike, etc). If none of them can make it, then Ill take what is available.

I dont normally reveal my age, but this is good enough reason, im 22 years old.
I too would like some directions, I live quite a distance from London but that wont be a problem, im going to book a few days off so I can get there the day before and stay in a hotel or something and find the place the next day, but I will need to know where it is.
And I would like to have a session with the regulars too (Nabil, TZM, Spike, Parjay and the rest), but first I have to find out a date everyone can agree on, im good for all three days and sessions, but once I know if a regular can only make a specific date ill probably book it for then, ill edit this post when that time comes, if everyone can make it at any time, I will pin down a date if no one else does, but im open for any time right now. :P

My main communication with Capcom so far has been with Capcom US and the guys over there. Im psyched to be able to actually meet Capcom in the UK, the guys who are relative to my country. Ive had a passion for Resident Evil since I was 6/7 when the games first came out, so to be acknowledged by their maker and play the game before anyone else is a privilege to say the least. Thank you.

Im not fully aware of the extent that Capcom Europe are involved (other than localization I presume) so some info on the sort of people we will meet would be awesome. Youll be there anyway, Im sure, Tenebra. ;P
Giving how close well be to the release, its fairly unlikely *read impossible* well have the producers...theyre too far and busy! Ill be there poking you, the European PR director will be there, and there is a good chance that other people will come and say hello (the UK PR manager, the European Marketing manager for RE and the European R&D guy are all very likely to pop in to say hello).
This is a very informal event, were opening our doors to you guys cause we think that your support should be rewarded - with the opportunity to have a go at the game before anyone else, have a chat and a laugh together and eat pizza. And its also a chance to make friends with other people in the community, which is always a plus :-)
Dont dress up (I wont!), dont feel nervous, dont feel that you have to make an impression, its just simple, genuine fun :)

Looks like its going to be Wednesday AM Session for me too, im good for any of the days like I said, but I want to go when I know the most people that I know are going to be there.

Its very close to the station around a corner. Its a glassy building. My description doesnt help since a bunch of the buildings there are glassy...if you have an iPod Touch/iPhone/navigation software on your phone etc just save the directions on that.

The plan for me is to head in to London on Tuesday 10th February and find a B&B for the evening. Then to head to the Capcom building for the AM Wednesday session, and then possibly have a quick gander round the area, and head home.
So if anybody is able to give any information on fairly cheap accomodation for 1 night, thatd be great...

By that I mean will we get an opportunity to sit down and have a chat with some of the guys working for Capcom? Or is it a strict 2 hour session where we get booted out straight after? ;P
The only reason I ask is because I would love to get a solid hour and a halfs play (ideally, although the full 2 hours would be perfect haha) but still have some time after the 2 hours end to get some questions in or whatnot.
Of course, I totally understand if the schedule is tight and that its scripted for our two hours to cover everything.
Carbonox, the PR director and myself will be around pretty much all the time - any questions you guys may want to ask well be around and available. No guarantee that the questions you ask can be answered though :p

Carbonox, the PR director and myself will be around pretty much all the time - any questions you guys may want to ask well be around and available. No guarantee that the questions you ask can be answered though :p
We have an hour and a half break between the 2 daily sessions, taking into consideration that well need to start being around about 15 min before the afternoon slot starts and that we do need a little lunch break, I guess we will have a few minutes to chat after the end of the session. Ten, we briefly touched upon this but I would like some clarification:
When it comes to asking questions, will we have the opportunity throughout the time were there and maybe afterwards for a tad (say, 10/15 minutes)? Ive got a fair few questions to ask some of the guys (although Ill cut out some of the questions given to me so to not waste time ;P) and this would be the only time in the foreseeable future that Ill get such an opportunity.
Also, if you do not mind mini interviews so to speak, how many questions would you and the guys accept? Youve already stated that you guys couldnt tell me everything which is obviously understandable and my questions are not that probing. Ive got more basic and general questions to throw down instead.
I think its more informal than you make it out to be CR, id imagine whislt playing some resi and you see one of the capcom guys (provided they dont have face full of pizza at the time) you could just say something like so how many expected hours of gameplay does this game have? or are there any bonus features in this game like the mercernaries mini game in 4?
and they will just say something like well we expect this game for one full playthrough to take X amount of time and we have X features included
If you ask something like So what are all the weapons in the game they might say Well we would like you to play through the game and discover for yourself as we have added a few surprises or something like that.
I dont think they are likely to say I have already been asked three questions, your allocated question time is up.

The CES footage they had shown on the side of the Planet Hollywood hotel. Was footage of the river gameplay segment where Chris, Sheva and Josh have to raise the gates while killing off Majini and trying to traverse across the river.
I think Alexia was referring to that portion being playable at the event next month, after having been shown at CES. Might be wrong. ;D

Me and my Fiancee will be getting a coach from Southampton to London (Victoria) early in the morning, reaching London at around 9am.
From there well be getting a bit of breakfast then heading to Capcom via the Tube.
After the Capcom visit, well be heading to Camden Market for a few hours, and then back to the coach station to go home.
Ill be brining a digital camera and notebook with me, so I can write up a sort of diary/review, etc.

Normal finish for you on a work day (around 5)? Given the fact that the afternoon slot finishes at half 4, thats nothing really in terms of waiting. Walking there, having a quick fag, bagging a table etc.. Would be good to see who else is up for joining in from the offices as well.

yea i imagined the capcom building as the wilpharma building, with the different levels being the secrecy of the games, and we would be going to the top secret 4th level
then there would be a big explosion and secrets would escape and start infecting people and those infected would run to a computer to post the info and capcom staff would have to shoot em in the head to get the secrets back

Anyone thinking of doing some serious shopping then I fully recommend the Westfield in White City that just opened up. Just take the underground on hammersmith line to Wood Lane or get 295 to Sheperds Bush. It literally takes like 10 minutes to get there and its like a whole new world inside London. :)

Ive sorted everything out for me now.
Me and my Fiancee will be getting a coach from Southampton to London (Victoria) early in the morning, reaching London at around 9am.
From there well be getting a bit of breakfast then heading to Capcom via the Tube.
After the Capcom visit, well be heading to Camden Market for a few hours, and then back to the coach station to go home.
Ill be brining a digital camera and notebook with me, so I can write up a sort of diary/review, etc.
Tenebra, what are the chances of my Fiancee getting a small tour of the Capcom building? Shes not a huge fan of Resident Evil, but she likes Devil May Cry, Ace Attorney, etc.

Hehe, we dont have a building, we have a floor (and some other rooms in another one), which is just boring desks. Its funny how people think that working in games means its all funky and over the top. If you looked at my desk youd cry :D The funky stuff is in our heads, not on our desks :p
We dont have a merchandise shop but you will get a little memento of the day ;)

Tenebra, according to that link Capcom will be giving people a tenner towards travel costs. Does this apply to everyone or just the Xbox community? Thatll help me out incredibly due to a return ticket to Kings Cross costing around œ20.

So please, remember to get a receipt when you buy your ticket as well give you up to œ10 against your travel (ie if you spend œ6 well give you œ6, if you spend œ11 well give you œ10).

Hi Flowers, we need a receipt for our finance department (not a penny goes without being registered), so public transport tickets are really the way to go, we cant do mileage Im afraid. There is a car park right next to the building and pay and display spaces on the street, but as you know this options arent cheap, Id recommend public transport to be honest (check www.tfl.gov.uk for your best route).

Please Please say you still have spaces left? If invited ill be there with bells on, doesnt matter what date or time ill make any. Im a huge Resi and Capcom fan, have owned and completed every resi, onimusha, street fighter and DMC more times than i can remember. Resi 4 and after playing the demo hundreds of times Resi 5 are my all time favourite games. Being able to attend and meet other Resi nuts in person as well as make some great friends to co-op Resi 5 with would be awesome. pleeeease let me come????!!!
