Since Rebellion got handed back the reins to do the new AvP game, the original game has been re-released on Steam as Aliens vs Predator Classic. This was a great game!

They've updated it so it works on current hardware (the original release was very tricky to near impossible to run) and have even included the soundtrack which originally was on a separate CD (which is a big thing on digital downloads as you're usually screwed out of the game music in those cases).

They've also updated it to work with a 360 controller. No MP yet, they're patching that in at a later date.

Only £2.99, well worth it for a classic game. And damn, it's still as hard as I remember.

Does it not look too dated now, to enjoy?

I only ever had AVP2, and that was a fantastic game. Really good fun, just not done by Rebellion. The graphics were even pretty cool for that, at the time.

If they've updated the graphics, then maybe I'll get it, but don't really know if it's worth setting up payments for steam, just for £2.99, as I doubt I'd buy anything else off of there.

I think they should have done what they did with Quake Live, and made it free to play, in celebration with the new games release. That would have been nice.

Well if you have paypal, they take that.

The graphics are fine for it's age, especially since it was such a hog at the time of release, plus the full dynamic lighting helps.

AvP2 was great, but it lost a little of the scares from the first game.

Aww, I only beat AVP2 with the Aliens, as I found it too hard to get past the bridge (where the jeep gets thrown at you, and kills you every time!) as the marines, and the Predator was just confusing to control.

Really was a fantastic game though. That's for dynamic lighting on the first game, is that something which was put in at the time, or more recently?

Thanks for the info anyway. I do have that, so could just get it, and download it straight to my pc. It might be worth waiting for multiplayer though. The only thing I'm really worried about are seeing half life 1 graphics, as I really didn't like them. Are AVP1's better, and less blurry or pixelated than that?

Anyway, I doubt it'll scare me, but I'm hoping the latest one will. I just don't scare easily, so crave something to give me a few frights. So far nothing has, over the past 6 years or so.

Not sure, guess they're around the same, you could check some vids of it out on youtube. Yeh the dynamic lighting etc. was part of the original game, I remember back then it was one of the first games requiring a dedicated 3D card, it was quite a system hog.

Ah right, well I'll definitely look into it. :D

Being a fan of AVP2, I know that the films came from the games. That's why the films suck, and games are pretty amazing (expecially for the time of their release).

AVP2 is one of my favourite pc games, but I just don't know where it's gone. :(

Are you getting the new AVP, and do you play on ps3? If so, I'll have to team up with you. :)

I'm getting it, but on PC, can't wait.

Played through AvP2 last week too.
