The supposed 2 player mode in Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams?!?!

Please help me out here. Im trying to uncover the secret 2 player option for this game...

Some sites are giving the wrong code. Do I need to complete the game once before I can unlock the cheat? :|

Most sites give the following instructions:

Hold L1 and R2 on each pad. Then Player 2 has to push START.

Some also have down, Hold L1, L2, R1 and R2 on both pads, then P2 hits START.

So, do I need to beat Onimusha 4 once to get the cheat codes activated? :?:

I cant remember if the entire game is playable as 2 Players, but i did beat the 100 Floors with a m8. Was ages ago tho.

Anyway, I found the cheat. Gonna try it with someone to see if it works. Hope its not a fake.
