View Full Version : So after watching Degeneration.... *Spoilers*
I wont spoil anything but i must say im impressed, the CGi is great and the story is pretty good too, and its nice to finally hear/see the g-virus again. Also loving the way Claire handles a gun, (just wish there was more than one scene with her and a gun)
Has anyone else seen this yet? if so...thoughts?

Ive got it, and yeah I agree with you. Glad they kept Paul Mercier for Leons voice again!
My sister beat me up because there was no Ada in it x_x

Its a good film. Much better than the Live Action ones that Anderson produced.
Its good to see the rebirth of the G-virus again, along with many references to previous and future titles to keep any fan happy.
It was a shame to not see any major revelations though...it would have been nice to hear about Wesker or Ada, or perhaps get some more names, even if they were just quick references.
Perhaps, if this film sells well, well get to see some more films in the future that go more in-depth.

Apart from a few credibility and realism flaws, the movie is very good. In retrospect, after the cringeworthy moments of retardedly stupid civilian and SRT deaths, the movie was excellent.
It really was Resident Evil. Anderson should have taken the same route.
it wasnt bad at all, i wanna know if there is gunna be more after it, cause it just wont end like that.
if they do make another 1, i hope chris is in it, coz hes my favourite resi char in the whole series.

Agreed. Certain deaths were just wholely unneccessary...and peoples attitudes towards Zombies just didnt seem right, considering people were supposed to know what they were...
Well they were mostly isolated incidents around the world. Kind of like we know what lions are, but drop a pride into the middle of a city ...

but drop a pride into the middle of a city ...
And you know to keep away from it, running as fast as you can.
Yet there were people just standing there, asking to be eaten.
I suppose fear could have stopped them from reacting...but it just confuses me. At times, the film suggests that the world is now fully aware of Zombies, etc...whilst other times it suggests that nobody is quite sure if they exist or not.
Again, I think youre over simplifying it a bit. Sure they know what zombies are, have they seen one though? Probably not. Even if they have, its the same with the lion thing people are going to run and people are going to panic.

I can make out 25 blips on that map, each noted as a bio-terror incident. The film suggests all of them are T-virus leaks.
On top of this, at least 1 of them has to have gotten some good footage of a zombie...otherwise the protestors outside the airport wouldnt know how to act like zombies.
Same goes for the fake zombie that goes for Davis.
Like I say, the film suggests that at the same time as knowing what zombies are and what they look and act like, people dont know what they are and act like.
Though, I do understand where you are coming from...it is more common for people t succumb to fear, rather than logic...which is what eventually killed them and kept Claire alive, etc.

Incident sure, but I doubt Raccoon City-esque. Probably more like incidents as depicted at the end of the film itself.

Probably, but it doesnt really matter either way when its reported as zombification in the press anyhow.

?? Theres no zombie movies in the RE world? :P

Right, they know what and how they act, but I see nothing in the film that suggests they dont. All I see are human beings panicking. What about those people killed in that terrorist attack in india lately? They all knew what terrorism and guns can do, but still they either ran or tried to stay where they were in cover - with each being in a gray area on which is the right thing to do.
Though, I do understand where you are coming from...it is more common for people t succumb to fear, rather than logic...which is what eventually killed them and kept Claire alive, etc.
Yup.

Right, they know what and how they act, but I see nothing in the film that suggests they dont.
For the most part, this is only noticeable with the professional people that are dealing with the outbreak.
The Cop I can forgive, as he thought it was just another protestor...but with better makeup.
But then the bodyguard went for a double chest shot...then froze when he got back up. Again, that sticks to human nature, so Ill forgive him on that.
But then Greg and Angela, knowing full well that they are T-virus infected people still go for chest shots, etc. I refuse to believe that a specialist, after being told by someone like Leon, would still not accept the reality.
Like I say, this general reaction seems to suggest that they are wholely unaware of what a Zombie is...
am i the only one who hasnt seen this film yet?
Right, but those are SRT members - I thought we were talking about civilians?
Although with the SRT, it could have been spray and pray firing methods, due to the fact that Leon wouldnt let the whole team go in - there was only two of them, afterall. Still a bit crap though in my opinion. Though, Ive seen the same thing in the Dead movies, especially committed by soldiers.

Civilian wise, we were already in agreement. Due to panic and fear, rationality went out the window. So no matter how much knowledge a civilian has on the situation, they almost certainly put themselves in a dangerous position.
So I naturally moved on to the professionals ^_^
I was just mostly annoyed at how Greg acted during their first encounter with the Zombies. And just as he started to become an interesting character...
EDIT:
Somebody should probably mark this topic as a Spoiler Topic...even though it should naturally be assumed that weve seen the film.
has the movie been released allready?
One thing about the bodyguard you can notice is that he doesnt seem to think the attack is actually a zombie, and even though he appears to be biting the guard on the neck, it could still have been a nutter. After all, a fake zombie just walks up, then a real one - no would would expect that. Even the crowd react like they dont seem to think its real. The bodyguard even gives the zombie attacker worded commands to stand down etc. He only realizes when his buddy points to the zombie as it starts to get back up.
Edit: Still doesnt really explain SRT though, and why Leon has to brief them on zombies and virus.

Not officially, no.

Yeah, which is why I mildly forgive him. Ill assume he kind of went into civilian mode when the real zombie attacked. You still have to wonder why the other Bodybguard did nothing though...
Once again, another trained professional within the RE Universe succumbs to stupidity.
It would appear that the only succesful way to survive in the RE Universe is to be a child genius with an older brother that is both a renegade and the top marksman.
Heh, just watching it again and you can see that its almost Claires fault! After the 2nd bodyguard points to the zombie, the Z starts moving and the 1st bodyguard moves in and draws his weapon to (what appears to be anyhow) level with a head shot then -
RUNN!!
and Claire distracts them :D

Did you also notice that a crap load of Zombies just appear out of nowhere to?
Nobody mentions them, nobody screams...they just all of a sudden start piling on people...

Well could someone pm me on how can i get it ? (to avoid piracy talk)
Yeh the Zombie source is dodgy as hell. Right when that 2nd bodyguard is about to shoot he gets jumped by two or three zombies, even though the entire terminal is watching the events.
can someone tell me how can i watch this movie allready??
torrent or youtube

Check your Inbox.
Id just like to say that although I watched it early, I do plan on buying at least 1 copy of the film. I think it is an excellent piece of work, even if it is filled with as many plotholes as you would expect in a RE game.
Im greatly anticipating the extras on the DVD to be honest, and the quality will be much higher.

Yep, and then when the camera is pulling back, theres just loads of Zombies chomping on random civilians.
Maybe Ten can put these questions to the Degeneration team :D
Tut tut lots of naughtyness going on here
You should know that I cant be happy for what youre doing.

I tried my best to keep away from it...but lets face it, somebody at Sony or Capcom got a copy of the film, and decided to put it out on the internet.
Either that or a pre-release copy got lost somewhere. If the big companies were a bit more careful, things like this wouldnt happen.
But either way, as I said...Ill be getting myself at least 1 official copy when it is released officially. Oh, and Sony have reacted quick enough to get it off of youtube already.
Well i already have the DVD release of the film, but i will be buying a solid copy too, just because its RE, and the film was awesome. Only problem i found with it was not enough Claire action, they set her up for the whole gun scene in the airport, and thats about as much Claire-zombie action you get (Not including the Wilpharma facility) and for her to be injured by only a piece of glass when the bomb went off, thats...questionable, but ill let it pass because she survived, if they had killed her off like jill that would end my RE experience.
I allways thought that there was a Leon + Ada thing going, in RE2 and even in RE4, but now there moving past that and were getting Leon + Angela? Not to mention are we expected to see her in a future game?
Same here, Ive had the blu-ray version pre-ordered on Amazon UK ever since it was listed.
If the big companies were a bit more careful, things like this wouldnt happen.
Trust me, its impossible to control. Consider how many people are involved - journalists, publicists, manufacturers etc. Do the right thing and only purchase/use legit material.

For the most part, I agree and understand that it is hard to control...and as I say, I will be purchasing at least 1 copy of the film.
But the version I watched on youtube gave no profit to the person that uploaded it, it was taken down within hours, and wasnt even that publicly known about...with only 4000 views before it was taken down.
But even so, although it is a hard thing to control...it could be controlled a lot better than it is now.

I dont get it, why are people trying to justify their wrong deeds. Its piracy, clean and simple. Keep it off the forums. If you did it, keep it to yourself.

I suppose Sony have a hand in it.
Anyway great film. Watched it twice now. And on my ipod touch.

yeah that is nice but i think paul haddad voice was nicer and if they just let him do re4 and the movie so you just kept the same voice
but hey still a damn good movie they made
I really enjoyed Degeneration. It was great fan-service, something that cant be found easily these days. The storyline was well-thought out and finally breathed some new life into the series. Ive bought the DVD and will immediately buy the Blu-Ray as soon as I get the money for it.
I also adore the fact that it didnt try and act like something it wasnt. The series was never built on being a serious drama with a storyline as convulted as say, the Metal Gear Solid series (not that thats an example of a serious drama). It stayed true to the series foundations of great, clean (or not) zombie madness with a pseudo-science fiction storyline. And for that, I commend it.
I really hope they continue making these CGI movies.
Seriously amazing. Id say the best videogame-film to date. Time to pre-order it, methinks. I dont have a PS3 or other blu-ray player though, so Ill stick to SD.
Wait...question!
Ive got a new TV, that is HD ready. It has a built-in DVD player (combo). Can the DVD player (ready built in when purchased) play HD dvds? If so, do I need to buy any cables or anything?
Take into consideration that Im a bit noobish when it comes to technology that hasnt been explained to me, like this.
p.s. Im hoping for another of these movies too. Im also hoping for another live movie, as I dont want that series to end with such a massive hole in the story.

The DVD player is built in so you wont need any other wires.
To guess It will be DVD only and not HD DVD as it would say so if it was HD DVD.
But also if the TV is HD ready it will upscale the DVD to HD anyway.
You got a link to the TV you are using?
It could be this, but Im not certain. I cant get the product code at the moment, so I cant find out if this is definitely the tele or not:

EDIT: What happened to that link? Anyway, copy and paste, I guess :dead:

yeah the copy and paste worked :)
Its not HD DVD just standed DVD.
it says HD ready when conected to a HD source so to my guess it wont upscale DVDs.
But other than that its a fine TV.
Ok then. SD it is. Not that I mind SD...I dont find it that much different.
Thanks for the help...and for the compliment lol. Ive been waiting for a new tele for about 3 years now, so its great to finally have one...on the weekends and holidays.
no probs.
If you wacth a DVD through PS3 or 360 and is set to HD they will upscale the DVD to HD

Youre just a big lover for blue-ray resolution, I see right through you! :p
But yes, I am too looking forward to the blue-ray release; it was awesome to see it on the big screen but being able to see it in your own home theatre is even better, and to look at all the nice Easter eggs that we might have skipped pass by.
