View Full Version : Note On Facebook Group Promising Free Xbox LIVE
From AceyBongos
Hi all - quick heads-up - if you've seen any Facebook groups promising free Xbox LIVE here's a note I received today:
"It has come to our attention that a Facebook group has emerged claiming to offer free Xbox LIVE subscriptions to those who join and invite their friends to join.
This offer is not sponsored by, affiliated with or supported by Xbox.
We are reviewing this matter internally and will take the appropriate steps to resolve this situation. We are committed to making sure that all current and future Xbox LIVE members have an excellent experience with the Xbox LIVE service."
As always, please remember never to give out any of your information, inlcuding email addresses for any account (whether it is your Xbox LIVE account or otherwise) online unless you are absolutely sure of who you are giving it to. And please remember never to give out any of your passwords online. Thanks!
So it's a scam don't fall for it you have been warned!

I can't believe ANYONE fell for this.
I saw a few friends join the group earlier and just *facepalmed* myself away from the site.

Do you know that nigerian bank manager that e-mailed me?
I sent a response, but haven't heard anything about my millions yet...oh, and his company keeps taking my down payment, even though he said it was just the one off...

I am ashamed to admit it but I joined that group :(
I was invited by a friend from work who usually knows his stuff so I thought it 'might' be genuinue but i quickly realised my stupidity and left the group. The only info you give is an e-mail address for facebook. So far I have had no attacks or issues with my account.
I've now warned my friends about it.

Off topic :[ Lol on Facebook. I detest facebook, imo its just a platform for people who have no life posting pics and personal information to get friends which they dont have in real. ( just my opinion about the platform not the users / or at least not all ). And imo this proves that such a thing has a chance on the said platform, to the type of people i meant. ( yet again, i dont insult anyone ! )
Ive always hated myspace etc, no point in it imo unless u live a life online, msn or any other chat programm is enough. ]
Its kinda the same stuff like the chain messages on ps3 / xbox about free betas etc. People who really fall for this must act before thinkin, otherwise i cant explain how someone could actually fall to it lol. Also i dont get the founders of such groups, wheres the point in creating groups or chain messages like that, they wont get any credit etc.

I like facebook due to the reason i am now in touch with people i went to boarding school with 20 years ago. People that live all over the country as it was not a local school.
Also i find it enjoyable.
each to their own I guess

Having any app added to your facebook gives them your sign on details which includes your e-mail. this isnt always mallictious as some people may think but whoever runs the app can then sell your e-mail address to those morons who carpet bomb your account with spam. Since joining facebook my junk e-mail has been alot fuller than it used to be. Im getting about 10-15 a day
On the other side, facebook is a good platform to get all your friends together in one place so you can see what everyone is doing or you can invite them to events and share photos. recently Ive seen about a million photos of snow in people gardens....woo, how exciting *read with sarcasm in mind here* I myself use facebook all the time as it's a great site to stalk...I mean follow what people are doing. Plus it's a ton better than twitter
