Not sure if anybody knew about the 4th terminator movie, but theyve finally started showing trailers now.

Christian Bale plays John Connor, the leader of the human resistance. So this new film is set during the war, etc.

It is supposed to be the start of a new trilogy within the Universe.

So, thatll leave us with 6 films and 1 TV series. Im liking this...I just hope this film doesnt mess anything up.

Me too, but Im not sold on the choice of director. If it turns out like T3 Ill probably give this one a miss.

Christian Bale should be a perfect choice, though if he had to commit to Batman or this over the coming years it really is no contest.

If its set in the future it best be 18 rated, and provide all the gore death and fighting that was always promised.

I dont like the idea. Terminator ran its course to the second movie and probably boasts the most impressive sequel ever. But Terminator 3 was all effects and catchphrases, the film just got so cheesey. The only thing going for the 3rd film was Arnies final performance in the movie industry.

Ive not seen the Sarah Chronicles because of the 3rd film and I probably wont bother. Theres no James Cameron, Linda Hamilton or Arnold Schwarzenegger anymore so its barely Terminator to me.

Unless you like the idea of a T-1001 that takes the form of a urinal just as a guy is about to pee into it, then takes the form of a Scottish redheaded woman to kill him - then yeh, dont watch it x_x

I really enjoyed Sarah Connor Chronicles...and Terminator 3 was still great IMO...not as good as T1 or T2, but still great.

I guess Im the only one looking forward to this properly?

I am definetly interested in going to see the movie as well just to know what happens in the future and if Skynet is stopped. There is a sort of time rift after Terminator 2 which split it up into 2 different time lines?

I really like the direction that Sarah Chronicles took thought as it is so different from anything else on tv right now. I just love how Cameron is represented throughout the series and her behaviour is really unusual. :)

But we know that Skynet is stopped. Connor leads the human resistance against Skynet and stops it...but during the process, he sends several machines back to try and change things, etc, etc, etc.

The major point of the Terminator series of films has been the fact that everything is inevitable. This is proven, and even said, at the end of Terminator 3.

No matter what Connor did, it would only delay the events for a little while. Everything leads to Skynet coming into operation, starting the war, and then Connor leading the Human Resistance to destroy Skynet.

Weve never seen the real original timeline as the films are nth times removed from the real universe, and nothing much is known about it. All we know is that a Connor united the rebels and managed to stop skynet. On the original timeline, Connor was born to a different father, and for all we know may even have been Jane Connor. Nor do we know who really built skynet originally.

What we see in the movies are the altered events. Skynet, while trying to stop Connor from growing up to become the rebel leader, inadvertently created the circumstances of his training by his mother who was forced to protect him from its Terminators.

Each film shows that the events change, but the same basic parameters are met by time in order to resolve its paradoxes: skynet will be created, a Connor will rise, and Skynet will be defeated.
