Hey guys,
i got demons souls for christmas and let me tell ya - its hard. Well, not hard, its brutal. But in the same time its so addicting that i think im dependent on it :D. I hope i´ll finish it till end of holidays or else i wont be able to think straight during lessons in school.
I would like to know if there´s anybody on the forum that has and plays this game. I really need someone to speak with about this game and hopefully give or get some advices, im so pumped by this game that i speak about it with everyone but its only a one-way conversation.
i'll go and order it today if you think i should get it...
i don't have it yet but it's been high on my list and if you recommend it i can purchase it today.
EDIT: i looked online and demon souls doesn't come up, i dont think it's released here yet.
Because of it's rumored difficulity, I've been wanting to play this since hearing from it... the only minor detail is, that it hasn't gotten a PAL release...or that I don't have a PS3, don't know which one is the bigger problem.
I guess the latter, since a couple of my friends are playing it imported, since the ps3 is regio free.
One original console-exclusive isn't going to sell the Black box to me though. xD
Oh, so thats why. Only 1 online shop in my whole country importer few copies of the game alongside with deluxe edition(soundtrack + artbook separately for only 1 euro!), i cant believe GB doesnt have this game when Slovakia does.
Green, have you looked at all the online shops in your country? Im sure there´s the game somewhere.
Btw i decided that Demons souls is the best rpg i ever played, better than any final fantasy, vampire: the masquerade or fallout. Im sure that almost noone shares this opinion with me(among those who have this game)but i dont know why is it that i love it so much.
I got it too, its really good game and one of the few that keeps me playing this year.

I have this game, and it is EPIC.
I have already completed the game once with the good ending, now i'm going for the bad ending as well as trying to get the spell/weapon trophies for it.

Im very close to the end, i cleared all the dungeons except the first one, i killed penetrator and next up are the last bosses.
Btw what character do you have? Im a tank - i have that big sword that drops near dragon god and shield from tower knight/or gahr winland.
Yeah and funny thing happened to me today, first time ever, i was invaded by another player in that storm stage and not once, but 5 times(by different people, i killed first 3, the 4th went down with help of one phantom and the 5th i ignored cause my 2 phantoms killed him :D :D).

Cost me in total including shipping (and with paypals horrible exchange rate) £45.42 and considering a large amount of Atlus games don't make it to the UK I thought I'd pick it up :)

That false king was a real ****!! He drained my soul level like 8 levels down, madness! I had to summon 2 phantoms to slay him.
The funniest part was when i was in the elevator with those 2 phantoms, i entered the fog and one of them accidently pushed the button and the elevator went down with them, i screamed in anger :D.
I had to hold on againts that brutal boss like 2 minutes and then they came up and helped me, we killed him but one phantom died only a second! before slaying the demon, a second! xD

Yeah, i agree the false king was a pain to beat, and imo should have been the real end boss.
The real end boss was a joke in terms of difficulty, but i won't say anything else about him as i don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't fought him yet.
Now you have beat the game Bobafet, the real challenge begins, as the game imo is much harder on new game +.

I noticed, its insanely harder, the blue-eyed knight killed me 4 times in a row!(that before the fog to tower knight)but mainly because of those damn bow users.
Good ending.
Btw how come you´re lvl 100? I was only 65 when i finished the game, if soul drain wasnt used on me i would have been 73. And what was your finish time?

I beat the game without farming, the first 3 bosses are really hard but when you get used to the controls its not a hard game at all(after starting new game+ i say that without hesitation :D)
Btw when i start the game next time, im going for the gold trophy learn all miracles even when im a tank :)

so i am on the first level, and i'm a knight.
ok. so i decided not to kill the blue eyed knight standing in front of the fog, and instead just run away from him. lol.
so i ran into the fog, went through more rooms, and eventually found myself at a 4 way intersection. one way is the way back, one way is the room with the merchant, one goes to a long bath with many enemies and a dragon breathing fire, and the last goes to like this kind of valley with presumably a female and a male dragon. the big dragon keeps on breathing fire on me. A message on the ground says that i need a crossbow to defeat this enemy however i do not own one nor can i buy one. what do i do?

Well, i dont know for sure when is that possible, but when i was in the valley, there were no dragons there and i was able to loot everything there, i think it has to do something with world tendency. But if you look closely, there´s a path just below that little hill where the dragon breaths fire. It is safe to go there and at the end, theres a little treasure(a herb i think), but be careful cause the fire can hit you if you arent close to the wall. But you dont need to go there.
About the crossbow, you´ll find many alongside with bows in the game. To kill the dragon, you´ll need like 200 arrows, maybe more, i gave up on killing him. But if you kill both dragons, they will not annoy you in the later levels of that world. But if you want to kill the dragon, you´ll find a Wooden
Catalyst(you have to equip it in order to cast spells)on the top of the 2nd tower, in the area after the first boss. Then learn soul arrow and try to kill the dragon with arrows + soul arrow, you can also get a trophy for it, maybe i´ll do it some day.
Go the straight path, with those enemies and the red dragon. Let the dragon kill most of the enemies, its a hard part, if you die there, oh boy, rage :D. Cause at the end of that path is a room with something, i thought its only a part of decoration. I spend HOURS wandering in the castle, didnt know what to do and when i saw a video on youtube, i almost had a heart attack. That thing is acctually a lever and if you use it, the gate to the first boss will open. Dont miss that lever.
Oh, and one more thing, when you´ll be at front of the smog to the first boss, dont go there yet, theres one thing you forgot to do. Go to the area with the first blue eyed knight, go down the stairs(the stairs that are behind now the missing smog) and stop in the middle of them. Take a closer look. There´s a fellow knight just behind the low stone wall. You can make it pass the wall, drop near him and speak with him. If you have troubles making it trought the wall, do as i did. Go on the stairs and make a roll from them so you end up on the low brick wall.

on my second try. now i'm in the nexus and this witch tells me to see the monumental but she is nowhere to be found. even at the top of the nexus.

The monumental was a **** to find. Go to the third floor, to the newly opened area and go the floor which is just under the top of the whole complex(i think thats the second floor of the new area). You´ll see there are many budha-like figures sitting on the floor with a candle in front of them, they all are next to the wall with their backs. Go around the whole floor and you´ll find one budha guy which candle is still lit. Speak to him, thats the monumental.

right now im in the world that is all red and has the workers that apparently lost their soul so they continue to work or something like that. there are also some dogs aswell. im thinking of going to a different world because that one is soooo hard!

Well the world where you are was my next world, i completed it before going to another :D:D... wasnt that hard, i dont know why, on new game+ it seems way, way harder.
Well, i think you should kill the second boss in boletaria, he´s hard but not impossible, i recommend waiting at the portal to him to look up for signs of blue phantoms or if you´re dead, leave your message on the ground, you dont loose your souls if you die as a blue phantom.
Well, the 5th world is the hardest and most depresing in my opinion, swamps, poison, plague, i would leave that as the last world. The 2nd where you are, well, i armost cried when i tried to kill the second boss in that world, he´s 2nd most difficult in my opinion, had to summon help to kill him. Just try to beat the second world, if you beat it, im sure you´re be prepared for other worlds, after it, the rest of the worlds are like a walk in the park. But if you want to go elsewhere, try 3rd and 4th world. 3rd is quite dark and there are really hard mages there that can stun you and kill in one hit but the first boss there is really easy. 4th is a PVP zone, i first ecountered enemy players there and they kept going one after another, its not such a hard zone as other zones but the enemy players make it harder, i suggest always summoning help there.

Well... just come to the nearest point to the other side of the bridge where the dragon doesnt breathe and when he starts his run, RUN! :D You should make it to the other side without damage. To be honest, i dont get why you cant pass him, thats the easiest part of that level :)

I beat the game on pure white world tendency, that was the christmas event
You don't have to tell me, I know that the colors mean they up or down the difficulity drastically, but that's about it. ;)

ok well that's what i tried to do the first and second time but i think i can beat it now because before i had almost no health left, so of course the dragon finished me off in no time. i'm going to buy a bunch of herbs and give it another ago :thumb:
I just beaten the whole world 4, i feel quite great :D.
Now deciding between world 2 or 3, probably go with 3. The first boss in the third world has the soul i need to get the learned all miracles trophy :).. i hope.
Just go the demons souls mood cause yesterday i took my cd player and listened to the whole demons souls soundtrack while laying on the bed :).

With the announcement of demons souls for PAL teritories, i might as well revive this thread.
Who will buy the game? Even though i have it, i love it so much that it could be the first game i will buy just because i want the black phantom version and the strategy guide i dont have.
Btw, i beat the game months ago, found out the new game+ is even harder and currently im playing trough the game again, this time, as a mage character. I must say, once you beat the game, its 50 percent easier, ive beaten 6 + 1 optional boss and i died only 4 times which is unheard of :D.
Btw, im playing with a new character cause i cant advance with the old one, im getting my rear kicked.
EDIT: Actually, if you beat the game, the game gets about 80 percent harder. With those 50 percent i ment if you create a new character, cause you now know most of the tactics against bosses, maps and traps.
I think I might pre-order the Black Phantom Edition. :D

The game is hard, yet not unfair... If it had frequent checkpoints and lesser penalties for death, it wouldn't be called a hard game. Most of it's difficulty comes from the extreme penalties for death, and the complete absence of checkpoints, which is great, since here you'll value your character's life like your own, and you'll become one with him, better than any other RPG.
The game's only draw backs are the bad dummy system, and the fact that once you learn a tactic or pass threw an area, you can do it again in every playthrew...

It really reminds me of Shadow Hearts and its karma/malice system by killing X type of demon you obtain a percentage of an elemental type malice which works to empower your demon transformations. However Demon Souls is more like a fusion between Shadow Hearts and Knight Templare so... double win!

The game is hard, yet not unfair... If it had frequent checkpoints and lesser penalties for death, it wouldn't be called a hard game. Most of it's difficulty comes from the extreme penalties for death, and the complete absence of checkpoints, which is great, since here you'll value your character's life like your own, and you'll become one with him, better than any other RPG.
The game's only draw backs are the bad dummy system, and the fact that once you learn a tactic or pass threw an area, you can do it again in every playthrew...
Bad dummy system isnt a drawback, it doesnt affect the game. I think it improves the game, when you´re feeling down(which is often in this game) you just need to play with the corpse and it´ll make a smile on your face :D. Its just funnyh :D

If I owned Fromsoftware, I would have made 20 diferent version's of each level by changing the doors that are locked, and the location of traps. The version of the stage will be chosen bepending on you'r class, your playthrew, and your, PS3's IP (so it will be random for each player). As a result, each stage will feel like new in each playthrew, yet not completely unfamiliar to the online comunity, so the Hint system will still be usefull...
I would also improve the Hint system, making it give other smaller benefits like slightly increasing Souls HP, and instead give tiny amount's of life if an existing hint you've recomented, get recomented again by other players.:matrix:

The most addicting games like world of warcraft dont have randomization of levels and they are still good, hell, i spend 4 years of my life playing wow same dungeons over and over again. And if you want to say something about WoW, i have more games.
Also, how would you solve the black phantom issue? You invade someones world and suddently you´re in a different dungeon which you are clueless where are the doors locked and unlocked and where are all the traps. Its just good this way and i wouldnt want it any other way.
The hint system needs and improvement but does the job well, its main focus is not giving you hp, but helping other players. I ussualy left messages just to help, i dont need the extra heal.
But in the end, Software didnt have money to do all these extra things, they didnt even plan DLC. But i bet there will be DLC or Demons souls 2, they need to continue with the franchise, its popular.

I picked the game up last week but only had a little play due to other thngs.
But it does seem hard so i need to play it when I have nothing eles planned so I can have a long blast at it.

I have to agree with time allocation! I spend around 2 hours in a world if I'm farming for materials or expierence. I nearly started crying when I lost 180K souls due a black panthom:(:(

I sold the game cause i need money lol, but i beat it twice or 3 times so no biggy and the sequel is coming...
Royalty is the best choice TZM :) ... nice to hear that, need any help? Save world 5 for last, its a horrible, HORRIBLE place, like the worst level i ever played... in all of gaming.

I've been checking out most of the levels now.
I did world 1 (the palace/castle thing) up to the point where I found that huge Tower Knight with the shield and lance. Got killed, so decided to visit world 2, where I fought the armoured spider and explored the caves and stuff.
Checked out the world with the little Cthulhu-esque monsters in the prison last night, died a couple times before I decided I'd best go to bed before I get angry :p
I managed to get the Black Phantom Edition, so I got a guide with it...so thankfully I shouldn't need too much help. I levelled up faster than the guide told me to though, because it was poorly written at certain points.
But yeah, it's an awesome game. Looking forward to the next one.
I've been checking out most of the levels now.
I did world 1 (the palace/castle thing) up to the point where I found that huge Tower Knight with the shield and lance. Got killed, so decided to visit world 2, where I fought the armoured spider and explored the caves and stuff.
Checked out the world with the little Cthulhu-esque monsters in the prison last night, died a couple times before I decided I'd best go to bed before I get angry :p

Learn spell soul arrow(or if you have it its fine) and when you get to the tower knight, run up to the wall and hit his head with it, he is very weak against it, really easy boss fight that way. My first time i beat him with my sword but man, never again :D
I dont know your character spec, but dont be armored so much that you will roll slowly, better mobility is a huge plus, its way better than better defence. My first playtrough I was armored as hell, biggest mistake i could make lol. Be armored only half of the limit you have for your equip weight, thanks to that you will roll fast. 0.1 over the half of your limit and you will roll slowly.
I recommend doing world 4 level 1, its not a big level and its quite easy(in terms of demons souls), but beware those skeletons, when they roll at you, stand and hold defence... and DONT approach the black skeletons unless you´re skilled, you will die.
Oh and world 4 level 1 is the favourite pvp zone, so be prepared if you have your body.

Well I could probably help with anything you want to ask as for playing with you I have 2 characters on lvl 363 and 402 with the platnium trophy which is probable my proudest trophy I have acquired. I dunno if I will play it again, I might play with you to create a PvP character. You should farm 4-1 for souls, stay away from the 2-2 boss flamelurker and 3-2 boss maneater unless you like to die alot. And pay alot of attention to world tendency's!!

I find maneater pretty easy heh, havent died so many times there... flamelurker is like the hardest boss if you dont know what to do.
I would recommend for 1-4 boss fight finding some companions, cause if he gets you, and sucks out a level, you could be in big trouble. I for once had exactly half of my equip maximum, the boss sucked out 1 level, which decreased my endurance, and i couldnt move fast. If it werent for my 2 random companions, i would have died, thanks to them, i had time to load my inventory and remove a piece of equipmen... and heal. Ah, golden times.

I heard the level cap was around 700 or something, which is pretty insane. I assume, then, that it's possible to max out all the stats for your character?
I'm going to try and play through as much of the game on my own as possible, even if that means grinding the same area for souls for days on end...possibly the first game in years where I've been ok with the prospect of grinding...

Yeah, its about 700, check it out up at the... the place where you check best players, dunno what its called, you know what i mean no? The highest nexus floor.
Im sure you can, because that level is a random number, otherwise i wouldnt make sense.
Yeah, i once lost 600 000 souls when grinding in world 4-2(best grinding level btw), i almost cried. Let me please know of your progress, im really curious, and it will be nostalgic for me :).

I know that was quite some time ago when I had short patience haha. I was sniffing about different websites because of people claiming to be on the top level in like a week :blink: and I found out that demon souls has certain glitch's.
Two in particular, were you can duplicate more demon souls. One involves 2 people the other Thomas which I think is the blacksmith or storage guy in the nexus. This has kinda upset me because of these glitch's the games reputation for difficultly is tarnished. Why can't some people just play within the confines of the game:rulez:
