Depends on what games genres you like. I recommend Resistance: Retribution if you like the this type of games.

Half Minute Hero and Pixeljunk Monsters.

Everything I play on PSP is just a break from Monster Hunter really though. Best game on the system.

There some good ports you can get as well as the PS1 isos from PSN.

Final Fantasy 7 and the first Disgaea games are good RPGs. if you dig Final Fantasy 7 then I recommend Crisis core just don't expect any fun with the gameplay, it's as shallow as they come. It's worth sticking with for the skeptical of the graphics and the awesome story.

Other then that......well you have Monster Hunter what else would you need.

thanks everyone.
i love final fantasy 7 for the ps1 but i already downloaded it on the ps1. is there a way i could transfer memory from the ps3 to psp so i could continue the same story?
oh and with the psp i got a download for "braid', but that's about it.....

Since you didn't mention what kind of games you like, I'm going to suggest the brilliant games I've played on the PSP, except for Monster Hunter, which I'm still playing.

- Megaman Powered up/ Maverick Hunter X
- Guilty Gear Judgement
- Gitaroo Man Lives / Parapa the Rapper (I actually bought Gitaroo man psp twice, and once on the ps2)

- Dynasty warriors Strikeforce (though you might want to scratch this one, since there's going to be an upgraded version on Ps3/360 with online play and unique movesets)

And probably my favorite game on the system:
KENKA BANCHOU : BADASS RUMBLE (Yes that's the full name of the game, not gonna censore the "Badass". <_< )

It's a very quirky US import, a game which you can describe as "GTA, as seen from the point of view from a High School gang leader who's gonna prove he's the best gang leader in all of Japan by beating up every other gang on a school trip which all other schools in the country attend."

Full of bizarre Japanese terms, Humor that breaks the fourth wall, secrets and lots of replay value, though it's not a very long game.

Though I can see how this game would only interest people like me, who are enamoured by the "Banchou" lifestyle. <3

IMO, you can't go wrong with Capcom PSP games (Except Breath of Fire III) or stuff produced by Atlus! ;D

I think the games I've enjoyed the most, right of the top of my head is:
- Monster Hunter
- Breath of Fire III
- LittleBigPlanet
- Gitaroo Man Lives!
- LocoRoco
- Vagrant Story
- Metal Gear Solid
- MotorStorm: Arctic Edge

Im shocked noone mentioned god of war: chains of olympus.

Buy that game for sure green!
And metal gear solid portable ops is also great but you need to get used to frustrating camera :)

All dependent on the style of game you like, but I'd recommend getting a copy of Silent Hill: Origins if you can find it going cheap.

Monster Hunter is really good once you get into it.

Capcom Classics Collection is fantastic, as it comes with tonnes of oldschool Capcom games.

Loco Roco is awesome.

I didn't like the PSP version:stretcher:

Bishi Bashi Special, Metal Gear Solid, Vagrant Story, Street Fighter Alpha, MediEvil, Syphon Filter from the PSN Store.

Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles (also has the nicer remastered version of Sympony Of The Night as a bonus), Capcom Classics Reloaded Vol 1, Sega Megadrive Collection, Silent Hill Origins, Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops (Dont get Ops+ until you have tried this one), Dissidia: Final Fantasy. All wholesomely recommended by myself.

I'd just get monster hunter, then sellotape your UMD slot closed. at least until MHF4 comes out

All the above suggestions + Patapon.

Since you like FF7, I'd say an obvious suggestion would be Crisis Core:Final Fantasy VII.

thanks everyone, i'm seriously considering all the possiblities.
i think i will definitely get Loco Roco, Monster hunter (is there a difference between MH2 and freedome unite?), Final Fantasy Crisis Core and God of War (since it's a ps2 game can i only play it on the psp or can i play it on the ps3 aswell? is it like a ps1 classic type?). Those are the first games, at least until i get more money ;)
+ knowing me i will probably download all the psn games i can lay my hands on.... figuratively. :P

Jarlino: i've looked everywhere online and i can't find KENKA BANCHOU :(
Thanks everyone

It's easier to find if you pick the English subtitle: Badass rumble. (http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=p3907.m38.l1313&_nkw=badass+rumble&_sacat=See-All-Categories)

You might wanna look at some gameplay trailers or something on Giantbomb or Gametrailers first though, since this game is definitely not for everybody.
More or less the crowd that played River ransom in the days. ;D

Also, be sure to get Monster Hunter Unite, as it's the upgraded version of MH2.

Freedom unite is an update to freedom 2, it has everything freedom 2 has and more but the new content is only accesable once you have "completed" what freedom 2 has to offer. Specififically the new content is a set of new harder online and offline quests and new stronger armour sets and "G" weapons and further weapon upgrades. The dual blades have however been nerfed and as you can transfer across a freedom 2 game to freedom unite if you are a dual blade fan you may wish to purchase freedom 2 and complete its content before upgrading. You will however lose your weapom use log numbers if you choose to do this.

God of War (since it's a ps2 game can i only play it on the psp or can i play it on the ps3 aswell? is it like a ps1 classic type?)
Chains of Olympus is a commercial game and is PSP exclusive and a prequel to God of War. You can only play it on PSP, although you could plug your PSP into your TV.

thanks for the clear ups. i just recently recieved my psp (it had delayed shipping because of the ice, i presume) and it turned out to be sparkly blue . so as you can imagine it came with LBP, and i really dont mind the color because i'm getting a case for it anyway. apparently the only colors were blue or pink, so i'm not that upset ;).

SFA3 is very good, but on the phat, the D-pad just wasn't up to scratch. Haven't played it on my slim

^THIS.

- Megaman Powered up/ Maverick Hunter X

Personal opinion: Worst Megaman I have EVER played by a significant margin. Thank god for Megaman 9 O__O

Im shocked noone mentioned god of war: chains of olympus.

Buy that game for sure green!

God of War was great but short - I picked up a preowned copy from Game for £3 for a friend for xmas. Also, portable Ops is a great game.

Other personal recommendations:
Grand theft Auto: Liberty City Stories
Grand theft Auto: Vice City Stories
Burnout Legends
Ace Combat X
Monster Hunter Unite
Street Fighter Alpha 3
Echochrome
Medal of Honor Heroes (especially for online play)

thanks soop, i have heard of many of those but unfortunately i didn't see most of them at my local game shop. though they are quite famous...:(
i think i'm going to check at another store for burnout legends because it is supposed to be really good and i love driving games.

I don't know if you can order online, but I just checked amazon. burnout and ace combat are actually fairly pricey for old games - £9 and £12 respectively.

Both burnouts are good btw, but legends is easily the better of the two

You could always pick up games from abroad if you find them for cheaper. I did that with a number of games.

I got Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines for Christmas, and I can recommend that for the PSP.

It's pretty damned good for a PSP game. Very close to the first game.

oh ok thanks. well i might be moving in spring time to who knows where and so i'll have to see where i am moving to tell whether i should pick games up abroad, because i might already be there! ok so burnout legends is the better one and i should get assassins creed, plus all the other recommendations. So i should be busy right until 2015! thanks guys (and girls) i am known to pick up pretty random and horrible games from time to time (crouching tiger hidden dragon on ps2 :p) and this has definitely been good advice :thumb:
thanks everyone

i know this thread is pretty much finished but i just thought i'd point out that Dissidia final fantasy is about the best psp game available!
