as a huge fan of bike motorsports and a long time biker i find it strange how the ai are in this game .
i must state that i play this game in sim mode with manual gears so when i play against the ai in sim i expect the ai to have the same limitations that i do its only fair isnt it.
for example ive had numerous races where the ai will take a corner way to fast and wide go onto the grass at full lean and not fall off not only that but they seem to get better traction off the grass then on the track why is this.if i tried that stunt id end up on my back and rightfully so.
also why is it that in the wet the ai are posting times only a few seconds slower then what they can achieve in the dry. as a rule of thumb the ai should be posting times in the wet that are between 7-10 seconds slower then what they can do in the dry.
one last thing i find the ai are a little on the agressive side when playing on harder levels . i have no problems with having a close race right down to the wire and working hard being fast and consistant as long as its a clean and fair race.
i as many have played the classics like gp500 and as i would say the bench mark of bike racers sbk2001 which i still own and play from time to time even now.
for me this could be a great game if the ai was tweaked to act more realistic when racing them in simulation mode.

thanks for your reply tenebra could you also pass on that while playing single game on hard and champion level using simulator model that the ai lap times seem out of proportion with the racing model. i can race on all tracks with any class and be within a couple of tenths to a second off the lap record every lap but the ai just seem to be doing times that are more akin to arcade mode its just frustrating. thanks again

everything u say bout the ai is true. ive won the 125cc n 250cc champs on championship level in career. took ages 2 do but when im leading by couple of tenths id break for a corner cos if i didnt id be in the gravel yet im being punted from behind and they are going around the outside of me faster than i can turn and im on the limit and i did adjust the speed of turning nd suspension.

Yes samething for me i play on the champion mode and the sim mode man gear And thats exactly the reason i dont play the game much on career because i love to play moto race games to win these races you need to ride perfectly one mistake and the ai is in your ass%&* and the strange thing is that its not on all tracks on some tracks like in the 125 cc race i do them 10 15 seconds after 10 laps and on others or they keep following me on 0.100. or they go pastby :S they do some ridiculous things that you cant do when you ride on sim

One odd thing Ive noticed with the AI:

On a long straight in a low-power class such as 125cc, I reach top speed, even though the other bikes (AI) continue on past me at a slightly faster speed.
Now, in my settings, I had the bikes gear ratios set up all the way to speed. I max out at top speed and the AIs continue to gain speed? Seems odd :s

its a bug, for sure !
i found some annoying problems too with this speed problems you have mentioned, i think that capcom need to fix this problems in the next games to come 2009 2010 etc. etc.

or maybe by a patch but i am doubt about it.b)

The AI is my biggest gripe with this game, its like your not on the the track and the other riders just hit you. Its very frustrating. Other than that I quite like the game, regardless of the reviews, though i would like Trophy Support on the PS3 version.

yes i agree the game is for me also only let down by the ai. i was so looking forward to having a fun time doing race length races with the ai set to hard and champion level in simulation mode , but alas its just to frustrating. but why is it the ai can still get away with riding on the grass and over the dirt and seem totally oblivious to your rider to boot when the mode is set to sim are the ai only programed in arcade mode. just a real shame.

I am glad I am not the only one.

There is nothing more frustrating when you have shown your front wheel to the rider and your on the inside turn and they come marching over and take you out if not you are forced to break and have the rider right behind you slam into your back causing you to join the fans for the rest of the race.

How could they create a motorcycle racing game that and not have an understanding about lines and rider position in a turn. I mean that in respect to when a rider on the inside has the line and the outside rider needs to yield or eat gravel.
