Sony recently posted on their blog about how there will be Heavy Rain DLC, called the Heavy Rain Chronicles.

As well as the nice news of getting more Heavy Rain stuff, they're so far releasing a special edition version of the game, now special edition not collectors edition, so there's no cd soundtrack or anything.

However in it you get a voucher for the first piece of DLC (very good :)) as well as a voucher for the soundtrack and a dynamic theme.

As well as the DLC it's getting a cool box (really interested in seeing if this is as cool as it sounds!)

The Collector’s Edition is packaged in a special ‘rain-effect’ slipcase – thanks to special embossing and other manufacturing tricks, it gives the impression of being streaked with 3D rain-drops (something that has confused a lot of people when they’ve seen it lying on my desk recently!).

Quantic Dream are one of my favourite companies in the games industry, I would willingly leave EA and live in France if they had any jobs available :D loved their past two games and I'm very much looking forward to Heavy Rain.

Anyone else looking forward to it? and thinking of picking this up? I can't wait!

I played this at Eurogamer, and from the few minutes I played of it....it seemed really great.

This sounds good anyway, and I think I'll get the special edition as well. ;)

I wasn't much of a fan of fahrenheit, but then again it still looked pretty cool. The graphics on this are pretty amazing, though. Definitely looking forward to it. :D

2010 is gonna be a big year for Sony.

I knew why i choosed ps3 to buy :).

This is a must buy, but i heard that you get the dlc only if you pre-order the game. If so, i will preorder it, looks really neat.

1st Episode of DLC is free if you pre-order from certain places, or if you get the Collectors'/Special Edition.

However, all DLC will be made available eventually to all players of Heavy Rain.

I'll be pre-ordering the Collector's Edition as soon as I can.

The game looks really spectacular. It just teases me with it's 'Only on PlayStation' label. D:
Would definitely buy one just for this game.

I played it at Eurogamer and thought it was alright but it seems to just be quick time button press things. I dont really care for it either way....

Why do games seem to be headed this way on PS3. First you got Metal Gear 4, it's basically a movie with bits of gameplay spliced into it, sure the gameplay bits are epic, but it's still you sitting there for an hour watching a final cutscene....then you got Uncharted 2 and all Ive heard about it is that its like an interactive movie. to be honest if I want to see a movie ill go to the cinema, if I want to play a game Ill blow some peoples faces off over xbox live.

i wouldn't say that. i'll say games on ps3 (exclusives) are more like art, whereas xbox games (exclusives) are more competitive and full of adrenaline.
but either way there's always multiplatform games which brings a lot of diversity to both consoles. what im trying to say is you shouldn't not buy a ps3 because games are like movies, content diversity is not a problem...... Heavy Rain is a good example as nothing is similar to it.

EDIT: btw xbox also has Metal Gear and Uncharted 2 won Game of the Year, plus best graphics.

Oh I have a PS3 already, I still don't rate it that high due to the no killer game issue....Uncharted may have won an award for game of the year but I still think Assassins Creed 2 was much better

Oh and I can't wait for the next metal gear game, Im a huge fan of the series. Still yet to beat MGS4

Different games for different people.

Heavy Rain is a nw type of Point & Click. Monkey Island, Broken Sword, Gabriel Knight, Sam & Max, Ace Attorney, they're all types of Point & Click, and Fahrenheit and Heavy Rain are just an evolution of the concept.

Point & Click games relied heavily on exactly what the genre name suggests...pointing and clicking. Heavy Rain and Fahrenheit evolved this concept by making players interact more with the player character.

True, the games are nothing more than Interactive Movies, that you have a little bit of control over, but this is what appeals to many gamers.

I can go into blockbuster and pick up any FPS I want, and I'll get a near enough identical storyline with identical gameplay...Heavy Rain offers something different to play.

Whilst I love FPS games, I also welcome any new or evolved type of gameplay.

I'm a big big fan of David Cage's work. If there is anybody in the industry who can break the video game tradition, that's him. It's not going to happen with one or two games but he does have the key.

I will always play the games he puts his signature on. Some people might complain that they've been Simon Says but they're something else.

Great minds think alike :D

If anything thought Cage also holds the key to try and make a compeling plot, to create an atmospheric and lasting experience, of course the one thing I am worried about is if the same happens to Heavy Rain as does his other games. I hope it isn't all rushed at the end.

So long as it does not go "Fahrenheit" on me I shall be quite happy. The previously unnamed 'The Last Guardian' and Heavy Rain were the main reasons I purchased a PS3.

Chaos, when people say 'Uncharted 2 is like a movie' they do not mean one long quick time event(if you want that, play the latest Prince of Persia), they mean it is a blockbuster like Indianna Jones; in terms of its set pieces, wise-cracking characters and cinematic feel-- much in the same way Modern Warfare 2 could be described as a cinematic game.

Heavy Rain offers a new take on the classic adventure game(as Zombie has referred to). It is a narrative and character driven tale, which offers different outcomes and allows for no two experiences to be identical; this is not the choice-system which games such as Infamous, Fable or Prototype handle their 'choices': not everything is black and white. Situation's are scripted - as in every game - yet how they play out is down to the decisions of the player and the differentials between the conclusions of such arcs may be major or minor.

It is difficult to explain the concept to someone who has not played Fahrenheit. The simplest way to describe it would be to liken it to a Fighting Fantasy book: whereby you begin a quest, make decisions and jump to certain pages to behold the outcomes of your decisions.

I'm really looking forward to this game.

If it's anything like Farenheit, then it'll be great.:D

Impulse purchase, simply based on my colleagues not being able to shut up about the game. Also not helped by the fact that we've set up a forum for Heavy Rain for Sony's community. *cries*

But like I said, it will most likely be an impulse purchase. It falls in to a tough time of the year for gamers as there is a ridiculous amount of titles coming out. However, despite not being a big fan of Quantic Dream or their titles, there is something compelling and appealing about their development skills and how they go about making games.

I might as well start planning the funeral for my wallet. Poor thing.

I have to ask...has anybody managed to track down a place to pre-order the special edition yet?

I'be looked on Play, Amazon, Game and Gamestation...and nothing. I really want this version, but can't find it anywhere...

I've been looking myself and couldn't find any. Can't wait for this game, just hope it doesn't go as wacky as Fahrenheit two-thirds through.

To be honest, even if it does go the way of fahrenheit, I'll still enjoy it. It just looks too good and sounds too interesting to ever come across as a dull ride.

Still, I really want to find this special edition...

I just hope this doesn't fall apart at the end like Fahrenheight did. Either way, I am happy they have a collector's edition with nice packaging and such. Looking forward to this. =P

Yeah I've been looking everywhere constantly too, although it seems to be the same with Heavy Rain, God of War III Ultimate, AvP (facehugger edition :P) and also play.com seems to be the only place with a bioshock 2 collectors, but I'm not sure which one it is they're selling as the other one got announced for the UK as well.

As long as I can buy them all in the end I'll be happy :P
