It could be that his hard disk keeps locking up. Go to Start > Right mouse button on My Computer, fourth option > 6th option in the left dropdown box > IDE ATA/ATAPI-controllers > Primary IDE-channel > Second tab, check if its in DMA or PIO mode. If its not in DMA, thats your problem. Be sure to check all the other channels, too!
