installed ok into the default directory but wont start when i press the ok button on the options panel !!...just closes to desktop,disc doesnt even sound like its spinning in the drive !!....nothing !!!....

Hmmm, that is very interesting bikecat. You see, I am having the exact same problem! I live in the USA and Motogp 08 was just released yesterday November 4th. I had to have it! I bought it and went home and installed it right away. The installation was flawless. When I insert the CD or when I double click the Motogp 08 icon on my desktop, it takes me to the options page where I can select the language etc.. I click OK and the screen goes black like it is trying to load. The hard drive begins to spin, the screen flickers once and then it closes back to my desktop! THATs IT! How can I play my new game??:evil: Its rather infuriating that a game is released like this with still a bunch of problems.
Whatever happened to those days when I was able to load a game and then play the game without having to spend HOURS troubleshooting, searching forums, emailing tech support, making phone calls, visiting websites to make sure I had the current updated drivers etc... It is so frustrating!!!:evil:

click on start -> then the second point from below ( sorry i have the german version dunno whats the english word for it ) and type there
dxdiag then you have the directxdisagnotics programm - > go to the sound tab there move the slider from the soundhardwareacceleration to standard and try to start motogp after you closed the prog..
hope that helps..mine wont start if its set to minimalacceleration..same problems black screen treis to start then back to desktop..with standard everything is fine

Thanks. But, unfortuneately that did not help my situation. I changed all the sound accelerations to standard and tried to load MotoGP 08 again but nothing happened. Still screen flicker and back to desktop. I tried several different modes basic and no acceleration as well with the same result. If I cant get this problem fixed this week, I will be returning the game to where I bought it. CAPCOM, WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!!
dont give up that fast ..save the informations from dxdiag ( there is a button for it ) and post them wheter here or send them to capcoms techinchal staff im sure its a small problem and its not capcoms fault..just something that has to be done so the game will start..come on post it
Hey Guys wait a sec... bikecat...u should check ur harware first.. tell us your graphics card ,ur processor and ur RAM capacity..In order to play the game on decent graphics at least u must have some decent harware...however if want to play it on max settings u must have the latest graphics cards,quad core processor bla bla... this might be the problem....Bying these latest games on PC is something tricky for the customer...Before u buy games like these u should know how good ur hardware is and how capable of playing the game ....
Unlike the consoles of course which will play the game no problem BUT on medium graphics settings...On PC u have the capability of either playing the game on low graphics settings (if u dont have a good graphics card) or playing it on max graphics settings superior than all the other consoles ...(but in order to do that u should have some pretty Crazy graphics cards such as The RADEON 4870 , 4850 ,4870 x2, or Nvidia Gtx 260 , gtx 280 , bla bla )Most people dont know these things .... and thats why they buy games and end up returning the cd back to the store...I Hope this helps ...waiting for ur next posts
ok..got the game to run !!!....but only if i disable the sound in the options box !!! also set the sliders to minimum in the dxdiag settings......wierd....reckon it may be a directx issue...wonder when rhe patch will be ready !!
if iam disable sound can play, so can not play with no sound ... weird does not have it at all:!:
