I know thezombiemessia posted a topic on this before it came out, but I cant find it so I assume it must have been deleted.
Anyway who watched it and what did you think?
I watched the first episode, missed the second but caught the last three.
My opinion was it was a pleasant surprise. I watched the first show expecting to be dissappointed (mainly due to the fact I liked the concept and was expecting it to be nowhere near as good as it could have been) but after the first episode I actually liked it, I wasnt too keen on the zombies running as Im one of many who believe zombies should be slow. But I admit I still enjoyed it, some parts admittedly were better than others. And some parts were a bit TOO gross even for someone who enjoys zombie flicks. (In case you was wondering which parts lets just say one part involved a bin and the other involved the contestant known as grayson and what the boss of the show Patrick did to him) Some parts were funny even though I doubt they were meant to be (Wheelchair zombies).
The ending was sad aswell.
If anyone missed it but would like to watch it, it is repeated on saturday on E4 in a full movie version which features all five episodes.
So what did everyone else think?

I really liked it. I only have one major problem with it.
Me and my friends have been working on a Zombie TV series for several years now, and over the summer just gone...we got to the point where we had the actors set, we were almost done on the script, and we just had to book the cameras/equipment and the locations.
We were then told that Zombies were a dying genre, so we shelved it for a little while in the hopes of brining it back in a few years.
This show has almost exactly the same premise as our TV series, but is shorter and involves Big Brother.
Needless to say...we are all very angry and upset that we have missed our chance, and we are going to do a lot of shouting and screaming at the guy that told us not to do it.

Thats a shame. What was your premise? If you dont mind me asking? As for missing your chance thats a bit defeatist isnt it, surely the fact Dead Set came out and seems to have been well received should open the doors for your series? If your worried that people will claim its a rip off of it if youve been working on the series for years you should have enough proof to show it isnt.
The big brother thing is the whole premise for the series so it shouldnt be a problem really and as I said before if you was worried people would say it was ripped of you should have enough proof to back you up.

The idea was to have around 4 mini-series to cover a Zombie Apocalypse.
There would also be a Series 0, and an Epilogue to tie up all the loose ends.
Each series would cover a different aspect/group of characters within the universe.
Series 1 would track a small Military group. Series 2 would cover a small group of survivors. Series 3 would cover a corrupt Police Officer. Series 4 would cover a group of Scientists trying to find a cure for the virus/plague.
Series 0 would have been a set of mini-episodes that would cover the lead up to the Apocalypse from various angles. Such as diaries, video-blogs, etc.
The Epilogues would cover what happened to the survivors of previous series.
The entire thing was going to be set in the UK, and would stick to a relatively small budget, and the locations would often be quite bare, etc.
We are going to try and get it all done eventually, but it has been shelved for now...were basically waiting for the Summer to come back again, when filming conditions are much better. Well also be working on it so that we can try and keep away the similarities between our thing and Dead Set.
At a glance, this may sound nothing like Dead Set, but because weve been working on it for years, we can see all of the small things that we were going to have in there.

It sounds very interesting, and the following different groups of survivors offer different slants on the outbreak. (Its one of the reasons I set my dead serious stories in a day by day setting which features different survivors)
And from what youve said you are right on the surface it sounds nothing like Dead Set. Im glad to hear your still going to finish your project, as Dead set will show that the zombie genre is not dead yet (pardon the pun lol) and youll have plenty of evidence to show your idea was first.
Imo the entire Dead Set scenario is on the big brother aspect if you remove it it would no longer be dead set. so I cant see a problem with your idea.
Anyway good luck with it!
