View Full Version : Don't understand Milestone at all

Basically Im really confused at Milestone. I know the programmers may not be the same but from the developers who created the frist 3 SBK games for the PC I expected more. Whats worse is I dont understand why they take basic features (like specific views, options, etc....) out of the games. They did this for SBK 07 & MotoGP 07. And now the same thing for SBK08 & MotoGP 08. Its strange because the first thing Milestone should have done was had these current developers spend time with the first 3 SBK from 1999 - 2001. Those along with GP500 are the best bike games ever created.

Whats worse is its as if Milestone is working in a vaccum. Things that have long become basic standards in racing games (or games in general) are left out of Milestones most recent games. It just doesnt make any sense. They are making games that wont appeal to veteran bike gamers yet nothing about them would seem to attract a newbie to bike racers or someone looking for an arcade experience.

Their AI has got to be the worst ever created. Even their graphics seems a step or two behind everyone else. I never cared for the THQ MotoGP games because they never felt right. Now Im just about fed up with Milestone. I wish the old Melbourne House developers would get back into bike games, or maybe Codemasters would give it a shot. Glad I still have my original copies of GP500, SBK, SBK 2000 & SBK2001

Well, in some way I agree with you Ronin, there is a lack of something but I suppose Milestone is just developer of core engine and rest things are in clients hands (here: Capcom) Look at SBK 08, it has got a lot of realism options and was made by Milestone too (the same engine probably) but was customizing by Black Bean company, so it depends on what Capcom or Black Bean want it to be, Milestone has nothing to it I guess. But I agree that specific basic views are just poor in all theese games above. In other hand we dont know if in Milestone are the same programmers than in 2000 year. For EA Sports left out SBK title after 2001 series it was surely mistake.
I wonder wherere now hired people from non exist Microprose?;)

and You know, all its about money and market masses needs so if something just doesnt make any sense, money make sence;)

You know I was thinking the same thing and wondering if blackbean & capcom have exclusives when it comes to features, because they did the same thing with SBK07 & MotoGP07. The sad thing is its like they look at each others as competitors instead of looking at like the games compliment each other.

I doubt the same guys are still at milestone from the SBK2k1 days but the new ones should have at least been required to play those games!!! lol Its frustrating because if motogp08 and sbk08 added the best parts of each other wed have two great games. instead I find myself just not getting excited about either and have gone back to playing the PS3 F1 game. Waited so long to be so close but disappointed yet again.
