View Full Version : MotoGp 08 miles better than predecessors bringing back GP500 from Microprose:)

This game is cool, now I can change gear manualy and I feel difference!!! All gamers used to handle bikes in THQ motogp style wont understand it.
But this handle system reminds me Gp500 game from 1999 year. What a surprise! I tried ride few laps on random circuits and I had to use the same gear changing sentences like in gp500:) I just cant understand one thing, why Capcom couldnt do a simulation game like SBK 08?? Theres fine physic so it would be a extended bike setup rather than this exported from THQ games. Maybe Dorna or whoever wanted it to be just arcade game but potential is so huge!!!

For me Milestone, who made this game, would redesign cockpit view modes like they used in Superbikes 2001 (another great great game!!!) couse those which are used in motogp 08 are bad and useless. Also some bikes and riders animation are...poor;P Not so well designed I would say. But bike animation during TV mode watch shows its proper prepared (looking back at THQ product, there was stupid front fork/wheel and it was bevaving like some kind of cradle;P )

Also adding bike damage which we could see on screen after crash, engine/tyre blown-out or slower bikes highside animation (it is now too fast and in Gp500 it has been well shown) would make this game a masterpiece

So concluding - dear Capcom/Milestone! theres great core soft to make a powerfull simulation game which can be also well playing.

At this time I rate this game higher than SBK 08 :)

I never cared for the Climax/THQ games because they never really felt right. the SBK series had a better feel to me as well as GP500. Any agreed that MotoGP08 is good.just wished they wouldnt have dumbed it down so much. Can understand making it easier for casual gamers but why not keep the things for thos who want a bit more depth?

leaving all this still promising are gp-bikes.com and kunos netbike projects if were talking about simulation.

Exactly. I think they are basing the view off the perspective of the camera being mounted on the bike as opposed to the forehead of the rider. That should be mandated also. Anyone making a bike game should have to spend 80hrs playing GP500, SBK, SBK 2k & SBK2k1. And then another 80 hrs actually riding a sportibke on a racetrack!

After a bit more time with MotoGP 08 it seems like MotoGP 08 is geared more toward the arcade side of things while SBK 08 tries to be more of a sim.

I keep hearing of these gp-bikes and netbike things. I take it they are home brew developements? where are the guys from microprose/melbourne house when you need them? The last thing by them that I played was a F1 game for the PS2 and it rocked. Milestone just seems to be behind everyone right now. Both SBK 07 and MotoGP 07 looked like first gen PS2 games. While both SBK 08 and MotoGP 08 look like first gen PS3 games. There is also an extreme lack of tension in both games. I played F1 CE for the first time in a while and man talk about some tense racing. That just made the problem with these two games stand out more. oh well
