View Full Version : Fit Resident Evil in to another style and genre!

They say that RE6 will be a complete reboot, meaning that nearly anything is up for grabs, so far, RE has been an FPS, rail shooter, survival horror, puzzle game...

...But what if you could make Resident Evil fit any genre or style of gameplay? what would you do with it?

It can be anything, serious or silly, use your imaginations. :D (sense of humour required, don't be hatin')

Guidelines:
Any place and any time in the Resi Universe will do, just as long as it's tied to significant events.

Avoid making things up unless absolutely necessary, why go to the effort of making an elite team with an elaborate name when a group of ordinary police can do the same thing?

Try to use existing events as a base, Leon and Claire have to go through a basket ball court, 2 on 2 hoops anyone?

Oh and obviously keep it within the rules of the forum, no Jill Valentine dating sims and rude things. :shameonyou:

And don't expect Capcom to take your idea seriously and shower you in royalties, this is just for fun.

Keep it original too, I've heard hundreds of requests for MMORPG's that get shot down in flames two minutes after being posted.

I'll start, use this as a base if you want :D

Resident Evil: The Racing Game

Summary:
A group of survivors use their car to escape Raccoon City, dodging barricades, hazards and creatures in order to get to safety, whilst doing battle with BOW's, looters and cover up squads sent to stop their escape.

How It Plays:
Set during Resident Evil 2 and 3, The player drives through the abandoned streets of Raccoon city avoiding hazards on the roads and outrunning opposition, if the car crashes, the survivors are forced to go on foot to find another vehicle varying in quality, if they take too long, zombies hone in on their position and the player loses.

The player must reach several safety checkpoints throughout the maze of wreckage and barricades for momentary safety and a chance to repair/change their vehicle.

As the player gets closer to the escape, the BOW's become tougher and cover up squads begin laying traps on the roads to prevent their escape as well as the count down to the nuclear launch, the player wins on leaving the city.

Potential best bits:

Outrunning a tyrant
Using debris and barricades to outsmart opponents, causing them to crash
Mowing down zombies
Being chased by an Umbrella helicopter
Watching the slow decent of the nuclear missle as an ominous timer on your escape

Resident Evil: Free Runner

Much like Dante's Racing game, the purpose is to get from one area of the city to the next, without going to ground.

You play as one of multiple survivors of the Raccoon City Incident, and yes, you've guessed it...you have to race across the rooftops to get to safety.

When you fall to the ground, you only have a few minutes before enemies are going to find you and attack you.

Early stages of the game only have Zombies chasing you down, but as you progress they get more agile and the enmies are able to follow you across the rooftops.

Umbrella Incorporated - Viral Outbreak Simulation

In this game, you get to pretend to be a member of the Umbrella Corporation running a Viral Outbreak Simulator.

Your job is to test various defences, vaccinations, military procedures, etc, etc.

Each level will give you new cities and goals to access. Much like an RTS, but for the most part the purpose is to destroy...rather than save or build.

Umbrella Labs - Management Simulator

Build your own Umbrella lab! Hire your choice of incompetent scientists & Security Guards, Maglomaniacal Head Researchers, and diary obsessed recptionists!

Have your choice of setting up a ventilation system to quickly spread any accidnetal Outbreaks, or perhaps limit the entire staff to using just the one toilet!? It's entirely up to you!

Extra unlockable bonus map of Raccoon City, now you get to find who really started the Raccoon City Outbreak! (hint: it was you)

Practice Your Maths With Resident Evil

you got some problems with maths? you always hated it at school but you'd like to improve your knowledge? no problem!
with this new game, available for NDS, you'll know what is the speed that a bullet need to smash a zombie skull, what is the limit (x->0) of x^2 + 5x + 2 tyrants, or what happens if you throw a grenade to a group of 10 zombies following the graph of log(x^3 - 10)!
you know you want this game

Chris Redfield decides that combatting zombies time and time again won't do much good. There'll always be people wanting to develop them as weapons. He tries a different tactic - become a lawyer! After passing the bar exam, he attempts to prosecute the Umbrella Corporation. In courtroom sim-style drama, press witness testimony and present evidence showing the evil side of the pharmacutical giant.

Resident Evil RPG ^^

Same RE game ( any u want ), same controls etc. When you walk into a zombie, the fight screen appears. You can use different attacks, co-op attacks, special attacks, items and of course you can escape ( low % ).

When leveling up u gain more health, SP, new moves etc.

I spent last night thinking about it and I came up with:

Evil Residing
You move from far away to make a fresh start in Raccoon City but you have no money. An odd man who owns some kind of business and gives you a house on the terms that you'll work to pay for it. You go around helping the odd gentleman going round lickers, tyrants and zombies houses and do small jobs for them, you grow herbs, decorate your house and make new friends.

Oh yeah, it's like Animal Crossing.

Resimon
You're newly employed by Umbrella and find that loads of test subjects have escaped. It doesn't matter, Umbrella don't want them back butt hey say that if you want you can keep them as pets and use them to fight, enter contests and sit in storage. You capture these creatures in new balls designed by Umbrella to trap and store them.

And possibly my favourite:
Resident Fortress
A multiplayer first person shooter in which game modes such as capture the herb, undeathmatch, Wesker of the Hill and more.

i'd like to see a team based variation of resi as I enjoyed the co-op on resi 5. I was thinking about it and I've come to the conclusion that it could be possible to pull off even though resi has mainly been about a few survivors.

All you need to do is set it during the raccoon city outbreak (resi 2+3) and let people become members of the U.B.C.S.

The objectives are primarily to do with containment and rescue of survivors however in each game a certain ammount of players are chosen to be the watchdogs and have extra missions to do.

Personally I think this idea would be interesting to play as you won't know every player and can never be too sure whether they will use you as bait if they need a quick getaway. It could add a new level of stress to the game.

I can imagine a 4 players co-op fearturing Chris, Leon, Claire and Sheva for example. It could be a little like the traditional resident evil style, buit horror with 4 players is hard to accomplish. Probably it would much like Monster Hunter, 4 players co-operate to kill monster and solve puzzles.

I must admit I like Dantes driving idea but it sounds a bit to quick, I'd always want to get out for searching and zombie-skull cracking.

How about if you are a paramedic (or National Guard soldier?) sent to racoon city to assist in the emergency, driving your ambulance or jeep with various encounters en-route, get thru to R. City and see the proverbial hit the fan then you decide its hopeless and beyond any help you can offer thus making the decision, its time to leave. You would then have to drive to a designated chopper pick-up point, which would of course not pan thru and then you have to find your own way back helping various survivors along the way???

You could incorporate mini encounters with previous characters from the other games but your character would be new.

:chin:

In fact what if you are a medic of the National Guard your character name would be Corporal Nathan Faulks.

How about a strategy game co-ordinating US Military forces (teams) against the Zombie Hordes etc and Umbrella squads plus a bit of peace-keeping action by protecting groups of fleeing civilians???

You could also incorporate air-strikes, AFVs (Armoured fighting Vehicles), protect your forward Emergency HQ and temporary hospital that has been set up plus send in Scientists to specific areas accompanied by troops to collect info and technology. Maybe even a wee bit of Satelite bombardment in places were the enemy is rampant.
Also you could send in rescue choppers to pick key personel from the city and when you have accomplished all your goals...NUKE IT!

The Horror would still be there as you'll be facing more zombies than your used to, you'll be forced to share health and ammo between a group of people. Plus there is always the chance your mates/strangers will use you to escape or abandon you.

you can maybe even have a part where you face the unit of Mr Xs you find dead in RE3 near the rail gun.

more players doesn't always mean less horror, take left 4 dead you have 4 survivors yet there are still moments where you panic, with resi you may have slower enemies but you've got the BOWs loose in the city to make up for that.

I think a lot of people are missing the point of this thread ;)

It's meant for a bit of fun, not serious entries into the series.

I'd like to see a online/co-op sandbox of resident evil.

something on the lines of prototype, but where you can actually win.

Next game.

Resident 4 evil.

...yeah....XD

Next one

Dynasty Evil/Resident warriors

Best button mash fest game ever invented, now in resident evil style, no horses, spears or swords here, just guns and explosives, personaly i'd love to see hunk in musou mode, neck snap, neck snap, neck snap, neck snap and finishes off throwing 3 grenades, i'd pay 60£ to see/do that.

We need a Resi Point-'n'-Click! That could be fairly awesome. Think Monkey Island in Spencer Mansion. :p

I'd buy that in a heartbeat.

It'd need a bit of work, but that would be so damned fun to play.

Heck, I'd play the game even if it were just Dynasty Warriors with Zombies in it...

It's a fun topic, no need to take it all so seriously.
