Its more the fact that she entered his account without his permission.
What if she had used his account to do something even worse?
The loss of the character isnt the issue, it is the possible slander and libel against the guy that would be seen as a big thing, along with accessing somebody elses computer or account.
Not to mention the stuff he may have bought with real-world money that she could of sold off or removed completely, id say that would also qualify as theft.

I would be weird if she had to got to prison for five years for that though... I mean, that s kinda long...
But it s up to five years, right?

Upto Five years. Yeah.
But we have to remember, this is because of theft, hacking, etc, etc. Not because of the deletion of a game character.
Yeah and articles like that tend to make news like this sound ridiculous, chances are they are going to go for the worst sounding punishment to exaggerate, it should really be titled Woman jailed for hacking videogame account., sounds far more big and scary, no?
