View Full Version : MotoGP 08 Lap times .... It's a joke ??

I was waiting this game for months, and now is here. I was very excited about that, but now, im coming so disgusted ...

Here is what i see in some YouTube videos .... :

Mugello
Motogp Capcom Lap Time : 1,42 ( and it wasnt a good lap time )
Real life record : 1,48 ( Motogp QP )

Valencia
Motogp Capcom Lap Time : 1,19
Real life record : 1,31 ( Motogp QP )

WTF ????

Its supossed to be a REAL RACING SIMULATOR, and this lap times are a joke, i cant undestand how a development departament can make this kind of errors when trying to make a SIMULATOR. I see good graphics, good movements, and other good things, but i was waiting a simulator, not a surrealistic game, i want to feel a motogp rider, and i want to make my best to beat a track record, what i cant understand is to ride 12 seconds below a track record, in one day of play ....

Sorry about my english.

There are different modes in this game. I havent seen the youtube movies but it could be that they played the game on arcade and advanced mode. On similation it becomes more difficult to brake the lap records. It is possible to get 2 sec of the best real time lap, but hard work. On arcade and advanced you can get easily more seconds off.

But I can say that the tracks are very well done in this game. If you play on simulation mode the times are very ok, and not so different than real times on most tracks.

what i would say is, sim or not we will always be able to go faster than the real thing, up until they make it so when you fall off it throws you at a wall so you feel the pain the rider would. as we dont feel any pain from falling off we will always push harder than a real person on a real bike, and some ppl out there are like Rossi but on a computer game, they can do things that shouldnt be able to be done

First hi to all !
Im totally agree with Mextor, we allways go faster than real, we dont feel pain and push harder. Thats right.

I have played other motoGps games, and the GP500 for PC also, wich is my reference game ( and its 10 year old ! ), and i can run at 1.29 at Valencia, 3 seconds faster than race times ( not QP times, to be more realistic ). Thats ok, i can understand it.

But when i see 10 seconds gap between real times and game times, and the rider wasnt pushing really hard, i was so disgusted. Advanced users in this game can ride below 1.19 at Valencia, and that is what i dont understand.

In the post i have seen the linked video of youtube, says Sim mode, and i really hope they were wrong, and if its only 2 sec of the best real time lap, it will be perfect, it will be near the reality.

Hi Dexter, what needs to be kept in mind is that MotoGP 08 is a game, not a pure sim. Does this really affect your game experience?

Its just a game, i dont see how the time is relevant, besides even if the times were comparable to real life there would always be someone wh finds a faster way around the track and would ultimately destroy those times...also ithe developers were to limit the fastest times to what is achievable in real life eventually everyone would have the same exact time , not to mention online racing would be a nightmare

Dexter, you need to link to these Youtube videos to be taken seriously.

Hi to all again. From yesterday, i have finally the game in hands.

I have played for one hour, in the three categories, ever in simulation mode.

The times is just as i say, just a joke.

Motogp
Can ride at 1.32 ( record is 1.37 with qual. tyres )

250
Can ride at 1.38 ( record is 1.43 in race )

125
Can ride at 1.42 ( record is 1.47 in race )

Its just a game, i dont see how the time is relevant
Hi Dexter, what needs to be kept in mind is that MotoGP 08 is a game, not a pure sim. Does this really affect your game experience?
For me, its important. What i want is a SIM game, and thats why it has a simulation mode. If games as F1, Motogp or GT5 are not sim games, what they are ? Those games must match a lot of players, some wants an arcade mode , and others want a more realistic approach , thats why these games has different settings.

I understand that the game can not match the reality 100%, of course, but actually dont match reality at all, if you came in to a 125 race at career mode, you will see the pole is 1.42 !!! ( top difficulty level )

Look at the second lap, he make an easy 1.43, when the record is 1.48 with qual. tyres. If you buy the game, you will see it by yourself.

On similation it becomes more difficult to brake the lap records

If you say real time records, its very easy to break it, pushing more than 5 sec. gap ....

Sorry about my poor english.

well i guess it happens all the time, for me also, its not the same as the real life.
Its kind of a game as far as i know and i cant take it seriously.
i didnt buy the game yet cause its time since it will released in my area but i can say that the graphics seems nice.
Hope that Capcom will make a better next time.

Yes much77, but you take a MotoGP for PSP, an older and worse game, and you must push very hard to ride below 1.39 at Jerez. Its much more near the reality ....

Yes no doubt about it, even in the new SBK 08 for pc and psp ...
its much more difficult to achieve a good lap times that closer to the reality.
maybe Nmco Bnadai did a great job about this game for psp a few years ago, i think they did :)

Ah you can always beat RL lap times on a game, because on a game you can push it past the limits, you dont have the fear of death if you crash.

yes, that times are a joke becasuse in advanced mode, the best times are do cuting all curves.in simulation mode all times are legal
