And Mario comes second...I guess that might finish the argument :P
They should do a world wide survey on the both of them...

Id probably vote for Sonic out of nostalgia anyway.
They did a poll a while back in GamesMaster magazine, Sonic came in at number 1, its mainly due to the appeal to children and the older generation that remember them fondly, im suprised to see Max Payne and Niko Belic in there though and the complete lack of Final Fantasy and Halo characters.
Wow, who the hell did they ask? Seriously, Cloud is always one of the favourite characters when I ask people. Not that Im a huge fan of Cloud mind...

I was discussing this with friends earlier, and we were wondering how certain characters got on this list, and how others seem to have been omitted.
I mean...Niko Bellic is a ridiculous option, considering he is just a 1 game character that really doesnt have much to him anyways.
Id have expected Dante to appear somewhere, and I agree with the Cloud option to...even though im not a fan of either, Id have at least expected their appearances.

I can see Sonic being one of the top personally. Hes been an icon for 15 years now.
I dont know how Max Payne, Niko Belic or Blanka got there though. I mean how the heck can you have Blanka above Ryu for a start? Im also not getting how Solid Snake didnt get on there. I mean how many times has he graced the front covers of magazines on our shelves now?

He has always been my favorite game and also the first I finished when I was really young so it would have been a vote from me too. :)

So, weve gathered by now that the survey was conducted on morons.
Gordon Freeman, Ryu, Dante, Cloud and MegaMan are missing from the list...and are instead replaced by Max Payne, Niko Belic and Blanka.

A good point Dantes another huge figure. Also Id say Scorpion from Mortal Kombat. Kasumis always a popular face from the Dead Or Alive series aswell. Heck this list could go on forever...
