Well? How would you do it?
It was a well recieved and well liked game, but everything just kind of died (pun not intended) about it ages ago...barely anybody talks about it, and those that do say that it could be better and deserves a sequel.
So, what would you do better?
These are the things Id add/change/remove:
1. Writing Size - We all know about this one. It needs to be changed so that people with a normal TV can read whatever the people are saying.
2. Controls - They werent bad...but imo they werent good either. The control system should have been a standard thing that anyone could get used to. It should have played like a normal 3rd person shooter, but it didnt...it felt terrible at times.
3. Storyline Options - If we miss one case file, we shouldnt have to restart...seriously, its ridiculous. We should just miss out on that part of the storyline.
4. Otis - Bugger off Otis...stop calling me during a battle. I dont need to know about this woman trapped 3 buildings away, Im kind of in the middle of something here.
5. Variation - Zombies or humans? How about some different Zombie types...some that run, or jump? We need more variety. I think thats what kept the RE series going...
6. Limited numbers - I get that we need to have a constant flow of enemies...but it would have been nice to have a limited number of them. Empty out an area, and if you barricade it right, it should stay empty, or near enough empty. The constant barrage of enemies actually got annoying at times.

Yup, id like to se it, I have an HDTV and its still fairly small, it would also be nice if they had a record of the dialogue in the menu somewhere, so its possible to read back if anything was missed.
2. Controls - They werent bad...but imo they werent good either. The control system should have been a standard thing that anyone could get used to. It should have played like a normal 3rd person shooter, but it didnt...it felt terrible at times.
They where kind of loose, id like to see some evasion type buttons so its possible to duck and dodge through the horde with well timed button presses, and it would be far more realistic than just carelessly wandering through, id like to see the ability to sprint in there as well, and the ability to move whilst aiming, maybe as a new skill.
3. Storyline Options - If we miss one case file, we shouldnt have to restart...seriously, its ridiculous. We should just miss out on that part of the storyline.
I sort of liked it as an optional thing to do, but I agree, it would be great to just wander in to the event and that having an impact on the overall outcome.
4. Otis - Bugger off Otis...stop calling me during a battle. I dont need to know about this woman trapped 3 buildings away, Im kind of in the middle of something here.
Hell yes, it would be nice to have some options on how it works, such as maybe putting it on mute, missing a call results in a text message being sent and stored on it resulting in the message being extremely vague to save space, wouldnt hurt to have the messages on record somewhere.
5. Variation - Zombies or humans? How about some different Zombie types...some that run, or jump? We need more variety. I think thats what kept the RE series going...
Im not sure, some of the fun is in taking on masses of weak enemies with Psychopaths being believable replacements of super-Resident Evil-type monsters, it would sort of fit if they got faster over time due to the larvae growing or hatching inside or something like that, maybe a day where they all appear dead, raising some hope and some slight confusion, only for them to spring up and moving unbelievably fast or jumping like the cultists.
6. Limited numbers - I get that we need to have a constant flow of enemies...but it would have been nice to have a limited number of them. Empty out an area, and if you barricade it right, it should stay empty, or near enough empty. The constant barrage of enemies actually got annoying at times.
I sorta had this idea for Dead Rising 2 but never submitted it, I was thinking, maybe by blocking a shops window and door could make a save room, where its possible to save the game, gather weapons and food and temporarily shelter survivors, over time, the barrier would get damaged, prompting a replacement of some of the barricade in order to save, wrecklessly leaving it open would result in either a zombie invasion and/or the stuff getting stolen by another survivor, or maybe the person you spent so much time rescuing turns on you and locks you out.
Heres a few changes id like -
A few more vehicles- maybe like a forklift truck in ther warehouse where its possible to impale zombies on the prongs and use them to knock them over, raising and lowering them to gory effect.
A tour bus in the park thats large but slow moving, with maybe some kind of irony with a smiley face on the front and taking zombies in the back for a wild ride, knocking them over within the carridges attatched to the back, and using it as a large shield and battering ram against the convicts, I can imagine it going in to the underground tunnels but getting overfilled with zombies stumbling in to the carridges.
Floor polisher would be funny, with zombies getting caught underneath and dragging a trail of blood along the floor.
Neurological conditions effecting gameplay- Frank had this whole DILLIGAF attitude about him, maybe witnessing an unpleasant event could result in different or more violent attacks with various weapons, or vomitting when he is on his own, maybe some dialogue changes with characters which may sway their trust in him, and maybe Frank can become a psychopath, only able to kill people instead of saving them after killing so many, with Otis warning everyone via the tannoy, and can result in characters attacking him and barring access to the office and the case missions, essentially screwing up the default escape plan, prompting the player to find the means to break in the office and kill the occupants, screwing up the haven they once had.
Rescue improvements -
Being able to store weapons and goods back in the office would be nice, it would grant some strategy for boss battles, and give the player something to do with gathering runs.
Improvements to the AI of survivors, they all ran in to eachother as I was trying to get them up to the vent, maybe Frank automatically asks them to line up so he can take weapons back off them and send them in the office one by one, with some being reluctant and taking something of value for personal use. maybe some extra commands would be nice, like telling them to stop or to give up their weapon, giving them food should then allow them to regain health without dropping their weapon.
Redemption of some of the psychopaths - Maybe an option to save them before their grizzly end, such as pushing Adam back before he falls, giving first aid to Cliff and saving Cletus with a well timed headshot to the zombie grabbing him, as with Paul, the pyschopaths would then follow Frank back to the office, having regained some momentary sanity, but not all pyschopaths can be redeemed, as some of them are actually taking the opportunity to kill people among the chaos, saving them extends the boss battle.
Recruitment - So, youve spent best part of an hour dragging someone to an office, give them your prize shotgun, they wave in gratitude and spend the rest of the game wandering with the others in a room, exchanging generic dialogue, how about being able to recruit some of them in order to help you get others? with the weapons given to them when they first entered, also being able to use them like backpacks, carrying supplies back to the office for later use.

All joking aside, the Wii version has all 6 issues that TZM adressed fixed, no?

Doesn t it get new problems in return?
Like ... extremely few zombies?
Or has this been fixed without me noticing it?

Last thing I heard was this:
Capcom: More zombies and changes in final Dead Rising build, TGS only had a tech demo (http://www.nintendoeverything.com/?p=5238)
It dosnt make sense that Capcom has only decided to show a tech demo, one that will obviously lead to the game getting bad press at the event. However this is hopefully the case, as I heard that there was no more then 8 zombies on screen at any one time. Maybe Tenebra can help clean this up for us.

I will be buying the Wii version eventually, just to try it out...but Id prefer these ideas to come into play for, say, a Dead Rising 2...or perhaps an expansion for DR1.
The 360 and PS3 undeniably have the power of this generation...I bought a 360 because of this potential, and I bought Dead Rising because it apparently met this early potential.
Dead Rising is one of my most dissappointing 360 purchases because it could have been so much better. It is actually a major let down if the Wii version of the game improves on the 360 version...
The text got me mad I had to sit realy close to read it, this was befor i had a HD TV, but then I read a advance scart lead improves the visuals of the text. So i bought one and the improvment was very good but not to a HD tv scale.
I liked the save system but i know many didnt
i liked the structure of the stroy line.
Otis needed to be eaten as I found him to be anoying in every single way.
more veriaty of zombies and zombie skills is more than welcome
Better AI for the the people you rescue it did get very frustrating you give some one a weopan and they just stand their calling your name.
It would be good if you could give books to some of the survivors, which could make them more smart, aggressive etc ...

Agreed. The friendly AI really shouldnt be labeled as AI...
I mean, I know that were the ones doing the rescuing...but it would have been nice to get them to defend themselves, rather than supporting them the whole way there.
The ability to create new safe houses would be excellent, as would the ability to recruit survivors as a small militant group to fight against the zombies and psychopaths.

To improve dead rising, i would ask Phil Proctor to do more voice acting for dr Barnaby! he isnt shown enough and i believe that he couldve given more information on the wasps during his time there! dr Barnabys got alot to say about those wasps....
