Not to be confused with the other thread that promotes good prices, here I want to discuss those moments where you've picked up something rare for a low price.

The other day I was in my local Cash Providers, and stumbled across the PSone games, and bought second hand copies of Marvel Super Heroes, X-Men Vs Street Fighter and Marvel Vs Capcom for a mere £3.99 each (around £11.93 all together), I got them home, checked them out, and, buying frequently from Amazon.co.uk, saw how much I saved.

To my disbelief, Marvel Super Heroes is worth £8 (double what I paid), X-Men Vs Street Fighter is worth £25 (roughly 6 times what I had paid!) and, for the grand finale, Marvel Vs Capcom is worth £35 (!!!!!!!!).

So, anyone else?

I still have Vagrant Story, Final Fantasy 9 and Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes.

Vagrant story goes on ebay anywhere between £20 - 40.

MGS: TTS goes for around £30 - 35 still.

Then, saving the best for last, sealed Final Fantasy 9's are worth £100, and unsealed ones go between £60 and £80, so not bad. :D

Devil May Cry 1 (original version, not platinum), Gitaroo Man and God Hand are all pretty rare now too, and Gitaroo Man and God Hand are still being sold on ebay for £30 - 35!

Picked up My re-bought DMC1 for either £5 or £7.50....wasn't much. Was foolish of me to trade it in for DMC2 in the first place. ¬_¬

The rarest game which I still want for PS2 is Rez. I can't find that anywhere. :(

Edit: Thinking back on it, I did actually get an amazing deal once from gamestation.

The games I bought in question were for PC, and they were in a BOGOFF offer for 99p.

So, I got Max Payne and Command and Conquer Red Alert 2 at about 49 and a half p each. :p

Both work and are in perfect condition.

Best ever thing I ever got was a boxed virtual boy (which works) for £1.50 at a bootsale :)

I've got loads of rare stuff, but generally it was either finding it fairly cheap at bootsales or getting my nice mum to get games for me when I was younger, who would know when picking presents I want they'd all be rare games now :)

I don't really recall most of them, but recently, I had a friend who's a big person within Koei Tecmo Europe put aside a rare, old ps2 game which they were selling for 5 pounds.

(Yes, pounds, I still had to travel to London to get it . xD)

Edit: Gitaroo man on ps2, if anyone cared. xD

Jesus that's good.

I got a European copy of Secret of Mana for the SNES for 50p.

Oh, and I picked up a PC Engine GT for £70 with 7 games at cash converters many years ago.
It was coming up to my birthday, and I asked my Dad if I could have it. He asked me if I was sure, and I said definitely. There then followed the most excruciating 5 minutes as he went to a cash machine, in which I was convinced someone else was going to buy it. I guarded the cabinet.

So far I've managed to get Castle Crashers and all it's DLC for free from the developer - just by watching their Twitter.

I corrected a Sega press release for them once (they spelt Phantasy Star as Fantasy Star) and they sent me 5 games on varying formats as a thank you.

Nothing springs to mind but I have loads of little gems in my collection - and I don't spend huge sums on games. (Though last week I bought Mushihmesama Futari v1.5 for 360 for £100)

I was doing this but I just wasn't fast enough, then I gave up.

I got 2 copies of Viewtifull Joe on the gamecube for £15 a week after release from Cash Converters.

I went straight to Gamestation and traded one in for £22

That reminds me of the GameStation Capcom Week.

They were doing an offer of "Buy 2 Capcom Games for £15" and they were all brand new.

So I managed to get RE2, RE3, RECVX and another game (the name escapes me) for £30 all together. Which I thought was pretty good.

I actually have all of these in my collection. I even have both versions of gitaroo man (PS2 and PSP).

the best find i have had is a bit of a long story. Our house had been broken into and most of my PS1 games had been stolen. amongst them was star wars masters of terras kasi (I know it's rubish but it was part of my collection). it turns out it's like mega rare and I couldn't replace it. Anyway, every year me and my family go to the isle of wight for a holiday and about 4 years after the burgalry i was in a news agent in shanklin and i was looking through the random collection of books and videos they had in. I found a selection of about 6 games and in amongst them was terras kasi for about a £5. i was a bit impressed.

Oh and i just got the special edition of Forza three for £20 thanks to games deal of the week and an Xbox 360's worth of reward points on my card.

I was very lucky to find Star Fox Assault last year for £8. It's really hard game to find. I ended up giving it to a friend as Christmas present. He had been searching for a copy for a very long time, as his copy when it was new broke on him. He couldn't find another since.

A while ago I did get 1080 Avalanche for £4 at CEX.

Still, buying from Rising Star at Expo gets some bargins.

This isn't a game, but gaming related. A couple of years ago I was a massive Sonic the Hedgehog fan, and was really excited about the release of Sonic Heroes on Xbox. Well, I went down to Gamestation on release day (6/2/04) after school. This happened to have been when Gamestation were still selling the latest DVDs, and I found a copy Sonic the Movie on DVD for £10. I'd heard of this anime before, and had really struggled to get it (not having ordered stuff from the internet before). I managed to stretch my budget to accommodate that as well.
After a hard day's Sonic Heroes-ing I decided the fitting end to it would be to watch this new movie. I hated every second of it. The voice acting was awful, not only that but it was poorly dubbed too, none of the mouths matched up ect. So I simply 'shelved' it amongst my other DVDs. As I'd only watched it the once it was in brand new condition. I've seen them go on eBay for around £100! Hooray!
