So Capcom, what do you consider is your biggest achievement in life?

Please note this is not the same as the wow moment of the year thread.

I currently have no achievements in life but that's not to say you can't post yours.

So far, I have none.

With any luck, I'll have achieved something within the next few years.

If I think about it, I feel like I've achieved a good couple of things in my (relatively) short life.

I'm one of the founding pillars of Cosplay in Belgium, and according to everyone in the community, the one that made it grow so much in the past four years. (Well, four years on the tenth of january.)

I have a good job, loving parents, money to spare in times of crisis, I can brag that I'm involved with a major gaming company, can speak several languages and have the ability to travel to wherever I want.

All in all, I think living my life is my biggest achievement in itself. 8D

Knowing Jesus (well, he achieved that not me.)
Marrying Mrs. Avatar.
Working at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (not there anymore so don't get excited.)
Writing code for Wii, PS3 and PC.
Being best-man for my friend Jeff.
Saving a man from an on-coming train.
Playing guitar live in a rock band.
Making the top 100 in Sega's Cosmic Smash.

I'm pretty sure I could keep going - I have a lot to be thankful for and to be proud of.

Heh, biggest achievement would probably be getting a job with Lithium Technologies back in the Summer, and working with the likes of SCEA, Media Molecule, Zipper and Virgin Media with their respective communities. Definitely something I plan on continuing for the foreseeable future.

Being able to go to Captivate back in March (or was it April...) and experience what it's like to be at a big event and meet many bigwigs in the industry was just astonishing. Most fun I've had.

Despite all this happening this year, a lot of negative stuff has transpired over the last couple of months, dampening my spirits. However, I hope to achieve even more in the coming years.

A lot of my achievements are really this year, but the main ones.

Finishing university with a first
Getting a job at EA
Meeting Bruce Campbell
Still being in touch with all my family
Having an awesome twin sister
Knowing lots of amazing people

I'm sure there's more but I'll just put these for now :)

It was April :p

1. I'll put Captivate too, just like CR.

2. Going to a conference in Slovakia alone was quite hard, but turned out an excellent experience.

3. Supporting friends when they need it

That's all I can think up right now.

Holy hell! How long did that take you? Even 4 is hard work!

Reminds me of my friend saying that it was impossible to chew and swallow a teabag in under 2 minutes, and this guy did and won £20 from everyone.

That's so awesome, that you met Bruce Campbell! :p

What do you do job wise with EA by the way? If you want to keep it a secret, no worries. ;)

That's for mine:

Hmm, well I won Brothers in Arms: Limited Edition, with a brand new controller and memory card, for having the highest submitted score for the Timesplitters Brain Drain challenge, in England. Was well happy with that. :D

I won a years subscription to the official Playstation Magazine for doing ironman, symbiote spidey, and Venom little big planet created designs, which are featured on my Deviantart:

www.dante365.deviantart.com (http://www.dante365.deviantart.com)

I managed to help my best friend out, when he didn't know if he was gay or straight. Basically said whatever his choice, I wouldn't think any less of him, and had a talk about why he feels the way he does, and I think it just turned out that he felt that way because girls never seem to want to go out with him....but then I have a similar problem where girls are all up for making out with me, and all say how good looking I supposedly am, yet when I'm going out with them, they cheat on me or leave me for someone else, for the sake of it. Crazy lol. Need my luck to change!

I have a very awesome family.

I beat Killzone 2 on hard mode (started it on that, as soon as I got it, but the end level was such a nightmare.....so so hard!).

Done every God of War on the hardest available mode from the start of the game.

Eventually stuck up for myself against all of the bullying, which went on every day from the age of 4 - 16 for me......now I'm not afraid of anyone or anything for some reason. Guess I faced my fears, but at a price. I've hardened myself up way too much, and now find it hard to express my true feelings, which is why I'm pretty much always seeming happy and hyper....they're the only emotions I can really show without a problem. At least they're the best ones though. ;)

Stuck up for my younger brother, and took out two boys who were beating him up. This was good, as it used to be me and my brother who were fighting. Didn't want other people doing it though.

I gained a lot of confidence in my life, and as a result am not really shocked or worried in huge crowds. I'm now fine being the center of attention in crowds. It doesn't worry me anymore.

Having a huge amount of friends is a great achievement for me, as in school I only had a few proper friends....and since deciding to ditch my supposed school friends, who weren't friends at all really, I've become Mr.Popular, but I haven't let it go to my head. I just find it easy to get on with pretty much everyone. I dunno, maybe I'm just an easygoing guy.

Also, it's nice to meet people from here. Ten's a lovely person, and I'm friendly with a good few people on these forums, and have fun in person with ChaosRiotZero, WoodShuntGear, ShadowRep, and Sinister when I see them at events. Meeting WoodlandBunny, her bf and Diogo was nice too, as they're very decent people. ;)

Oh, and there are probably a lot more personal achievements that I can't really think of at the moment, but I think my main personal achievement is the fact I'm 22, and because of my morals and my own personal honour, I'm 22 and still haven't slept with anyone, as I feel it should be something you do when you know you're in love with a person, and they love you back.

There have been times where I could have gone around the back or whatever with a girl who I was making out with, but I don't, as I firmly believe you should wait for that one person who you care for most, unlike what a lot of people do now, and just sleep with as many people as they can, to hold it as a trophy above their head. Funny thing is though, I have these beliefs and I'm not religious at all. If anything, I'm an infidel, but I just have a strong sense of what's right and wrong, and go with it, using my morals as my guide in life. ;)

You guys are going on about it like we are all going to die tomorrow!Surely there is much more to experience in many years to come! :)

Here's a couple off the top of my head though:

Finally finishing Alex Kidd after 10 years as I didn't speak English when I first played it, so couldn't understand how to do the last puzzle. :p

Getting all the hyper emeralds and finding out about all the hyper/super variations for Sonic/Tails/Knuckles.

Making it all the way to last year of University as I never thought the time would come.

Finishing all the various games that I have played throughout my life. Some examples being : Baiten Katos, Lost Odyssey(I cried rivers!), Eternal Sonata(Mr Chopin!!!), Panzer Dragoon Zwei/Orta( I need Saga :sadno:), Code Veronica, Sonic 2 master system...........

Making a lifetime dream come true when I started working at the blue hedgehog's company.

Starting my own gaming blog and updating it often with some positive results coming out of it. Also being able to feel that I am helping out promoting games, even if only slightly, for the companies that I admire.

Becoming Apollo Justice and feeling great about being a fancy laywer.

Going around London in my Assassin gear.

Meeting some of the friendly Bungie staff members at the Halo 3 premiere.

Never giving up on my dreams and always striving to make the most of all opportunities that may appear.

As Cat said, and I completely agree, being truly fortunate to have met some special people over the years that I have been on this Earth.

Having my Textiles school project being modelled at the school fashion show. It was a lovely two layer turquoise shiffon dress if anyone is wondering. :D

Surviving high school and having a blast while at it like making art murals. Also getting lots of cool awards to hang on a wall someday.

Meeting Mr Charles Martinet twice and being very surprised that he remembered me the 2nd time!Well, he even saw through my Mario disguise during the 2nd time. I actualy saw him a 3rd time last month as I was coming out of a bus.

Finally going to the music festival that I wanted to go for like my whole life back in 2007.

For finding out about 30 Rock and Tina Fey due to my curious nature. :D

Winning all Harry Potter books from a library drawing competition in school. It was a golden Phoenix drawing based on a character from the books.

I better stop but hope that the list is not too long and it doesn't sound like I am bragging. :)

Bruce Campbell is very awesome!

Ah right, how did you land that job then? It sounds pretty cool. :D

I'd fail at level designing, well....I could think up level's, but I wouldn't be able to model or anything like that. :(

What does your job entail exactly? I've always secretly wanted to be a videogame director, and do things like what David Jaffe did with God of War, and what Hideki Kamiya did with Devil May Cry 1.....you know, overseeing the game from start to finish, but I really don't know how to get into that, so hopefully I'll be able to get in at QA Tester level, and work my way up from there.

That's all I want to do with my life. :(

I applied at Square, and did an awesome cover letter, but still awaiting a response, which I may not even get.....if I don't, it will sadden me. :(

Tenebra
03-12-09, 20:28
Nabil, nobody here has a problem with whining at all, do it as much as you want :) But, in my view, however much help you need, the first person you should go for help is yourself. Don't let yourself down. You're anything but stupid or helpless and you've demonstrated that, certainly to us here. Forget about the other people for a moment and think of what you can do to help yourself.

That my friend is what I'm stuck on.

We all face challenges in life but I believe we can choose how we react to them. We can choose to feel sorry for ourselves or we can dust ourselves off and plough forward with renewed vigour and motivation!

Always believe in yourself, you have it in you to accomplish anything you set your mind to. Always have the confidence to make your own way, whatever you decide will always be right for you, and you'll always have the support of your many friends here :)

I'm VERY glad you asked.

My parents always side with her. Remember when I threw a fit when the RE5 play thing was? I tried asking mum and dad but got ignored.

I don't like her really all she and that idiot worker she has go on about my medication and don't care about WHAT I WANT. I'm NOT going to see them in December. This is the last time/year I ever work with those devil hell spawns.

Well its unfortunate that your parents and you dont see eye to eye, all i can suggest to you is that you owe it to yourself to make your opinion clear but please try your hardest to interact the best you can with what help you have been given, sometimes that is all you can do, good luck nabil ;)

Nabil, I don't know if you read what I posted in your autism topic, but all I can say is that we all go through a lot, and it can effect everyone in a different way.

The side I show to people, is my happy and fun loving side, but deep down I do feel down at times. This doesn't mean you have to live your life feeling sorry for yourself, or anything like that.

I'm extremely hard on myself at times, but I'm a lot older than you, so I learned how to deal with things, as you will do....with time. ;)

Nobody thinks any less of you. Capcom is probably the nicest community that I have ever been a part of, and having a lovely site Admin is a bonus to it.

If we're all trying to help you out, it may be hard to see, as I know what it's like to have clouded vision when you're in a negative mind set, but fight it. Fight it with all you have got, and I can guarantee that with enough willpower, you will come out on top.

We all have our personal demons, but it's down to us, as human beings to control it. It doesn't have to control us. :)

Just live your life to the full, and whatever happens, just know that there are always people there for you.

I wish you all the best, and hope that you can take all of our advice on board. If you listen to the good people have to say, it will help you out a lot.

Alright, well take care Nabil. I hope things work out for you. ;)
