November/December Q&A Session

MOTOGP 09/10

UNITY FORUM

GmonTalc
Q: When will you be releasing a demo?

At present that’s something we can’t reveal, however there will definitely be one. More details will be available early 2010.

Ronin05
Q: Are all the helmet designs going to be like the silly duck helmet options? How far does the customisation go? More details please?

If look at Rossi’s helmet choices over the years, Rossi had a donkey once! There will be around 25-30 different helmets. Customization will include different livery and leather designs. You can choose ‘mix and match’ colours for the designs. In career mode you can choose to apply sponsorship details to the leather and livery, which makes it look very individual.

Lots of people
Q: Why do you have that music in the trailers? Is it to hide the fact that the bike sounds are not very realistic?

The bike sounds are not quite ready. We don’t want to show you something that we’re not happy with yet. We’ve done a lot of work recording the sounds, especially the GP2’s, so we expect you to be very happy once you hear them.

Q: Will there be a training round to show us how to ride a MotoGP bike?

There is a tutorial in career mode, but it doesn’t include the 800’s. A mentor will talk you through the controls etc..

Lastchance
Q: In one of the videos, we see a 125 doing a wheelie at the start of the race. When was the last time you saw this in any GP class?

If a player wants shows off in the demos by doing wheelies, they can. However it’ll obviously make the bike start much slower.

Kurwe1
Q: In online mode, will there be AI riders or just real people?

There will be both.

Kurwe1
Q: You’ve said the traction control "prevents loss of grip". Does this mean that we won't be able to slide the bike around?

You have control over the traction control, meaning that you can turn it down, but can’t turn it off completely.

X-BOX LIVE ADDICTS

Gadgetgaz
Q: Can you confirm that the online mode will be lag free?

This all depends on your internet connection, but we have a pretty robust system, so you should be fine.

Swamdog
Q: Can we take our custom settings online with us?

Yes you can, but you can’t edit them in the lobby. We had a suggestion in the forum regarding this, but it didn’t make this version. It will be in the next game though.

Redline Rossi
Q: Is there an option to disable collisions for multiplayer games?

Yes there is, both forward and backwards.

DeviousDoley
Q: The rider’s names above the heads are massive. Can we change how this looks?

We’ve already changed this as they were far too big.

We'll be adding a video podcast of this Q&A session later this week, which covers the replies in more detail.

This is a MONUMENTAL oversight!!!

In all honesty the answers to these questions don't make for good reading - I'm starting to feel pangs of '08' all over again.

Hi Lastchance

Which answers are you concerned about?

The fact you can't edit bike settings in the online lobby is catastrophic!

And if you cant see why that would be the case, then I hate to say it - but this game is doomed to fail.

And what are "GP2's" ? If you mean Moto2 - then where exactly are you gathering the sound data from? Honda (who are developing the engines for the new class) say they wont even have the final build engine ready untill February/March at the earliest.

I was just wondering if you could clarify a few things regarding the inability to adjust bike settings in the online lobbies -

So you say we can create custom settings off-line and take them online, usually you'll find that most people use a number of different settings depending on the particular track - will there be an option in the lobbies to scroll through a number of different settings that you've previously created offline or will it quite literaly mean - exiting the lobbies everytime the track changes just to load an alternative setup?

Hi lastchance

You will only be able to use one saved setting online. However, we will be adding a feature in the next version that will allow multiple loading settings.

Pretty gutted to read that - hopefully it wont detract from the the online experience too much. Will we get to see any new game footage before the New Year, maybe an edit put together from the 18th? If not, no worries - Enjoy the holidays.

Yes, I do expect you'll get some new footage before Christmas.
