Hey guys!

I guess it's that time again, where another Prince of Persia game is due out. Anyway, hopefully it'll be as awesome as the sands trilogy, and not as easy as the new PoP game (which was pretty fun still)!

CVG says:

"Ubisoft's announced an all-new Prince of Persia game, "The Forgotten Sands", for release on "consoles and handhelds" in May, 2010.

The new instalment in the platforming franchise marks a return to the Prince of Persia Sands of Time storyline, coinciding with the film of the same name due for release on May 28, 2010.

The Forgotten Sands will feature "many of the fan-favorite elements from the original series", says Ubisoft, as well as "new gameplay innovations that gamers have come to expect from the Prince of Persia brand."

With a massive Disney movie about to hit, it was inevitable."

Eurogamer says:

"Ubisoft has confirmed the existence of a new Prince of Persia game subtitled The Forgotten Sands.

The game will be released "on consoles and handhelds" in May 2010, and feature elements you'll recognise from the Sands of Time series and exciting new elements you won't.

We spotted this in October when series creator Jordan Mechner filed a trademark to protect the name.

The game falls neatly alongside the Hollywood interpretation of the IP, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, which stars Jake Gyllenhaal and will be released on 28th May 2010.

But, just six months away from release, this announcement arrives unusually late.

The Sands of Time series spanned three games, POP: The Sands of Time (brilliant), POP: Warrior Within (decent) and POP: The Two Thrones (good)."

Personally, I'm pretty happy about this.

The Prince of Persia games are usually pretty solid, so hopefully this wont just be a cash in alongside the film.

If Jordan Mechner has had full control over the project, I have faith that he won't allow it to slide into the "just another one of those bland action/adventure games" categories.

How do you feel about this?

I'm not too sure, I think it's gonna be a cheap tye in with the movie. I figured that they were done with the sands style as they already moved onto the new Prince of Persia thats all cel-shaded where you run around with Elika

Well yea, and the new Cell-shaded one is meant to be the first in a trilogy, or so a Ubirep told me.

That was said at last years eurogamer, when they had the game there to play. He said nobody told him to keep quiet about it, so he doesn't see the harm in telling the fans.

It makes me wonder though. will this new game be in the same style as the new one, or changed to fit the style of the Sands of Time trilogy?

Thing is, this doesn't appear to be connected to the new trilogy at all, so I'm highly dissappointed.

However, given that both trilogies are confirmed to be set within the same Universe (a developer stated at one point that all the Princes were from the same Universe, but their stories were seperate), it wouldn't be impossible for them to work the two trilogies together.

But, given that this is coming out around the same time as the film...I figure it'll be some form of cash in on that, with no connection to the previous trilogy or the new trilogy, which is a shame really.

Ah yea, well I guess we won't really know until possibly a month away, but the new series to me, was actually pretty decent.

I mean it had it's flaws, but this was a good basis to work with, and although short, the Epilogue was pretty fun.

They have a lot that they can improve on, and work upon.

I know in the sands trilogy, it was very different and harder to pull off certain jumps and wall runs, but this is what made the games fun!

I felt the new game was too easy, as it feels like the game does most of the action for you. Hopefully they will change this, and I know they made it so you can't officially die, as they didn't want to spoil the pace, flow and rhythmn of the game, but dying is good. It makes you recognise what you did wrong, and then you can go back and correct it.

It's hard to judge a game when there's virtually no information on it, other than what I've just posted up on here (and maybe a few other loose ends, floating around cyber space), but I just hope it doesn't let the Prince of Persia name down.

It used to be one of my favourite game series!

Also, as far as the film's concerned, I'm definitely down for it. It looks like it can actually be really good!

I thought Jake Gylenhaal was a terrible choice for the prince at first, and personally opted for Oded Fehr (The mummy - Black robed horseman, and Resident Evil Apocalypse onwards - Carlos Oliviera), but after seeing that he looks exactly like the prince should do (from Warrior Within at least), I'm really happy.

For those of you who haven't seen the trailer, it's on one of the above linked websites, and also on apple trailers. :D

I love the new game, and find it much better than WW and TT.

The Sands Trilogy was good as a whole, but SoT was the only truly stand out game of the lot.

And you can die in the new game. Just because the game reloads the auto-save for you, it doesn't mean you didn't die. It covers the death with a nifty animation, but that's it.

The very act of failing the jump is just the same as dieing, it's just sorted out quicker.

Well, yea. I counted it as dying and failing anyway, but a lot of people didn't seem to.

I, too, loved the new game. It just felt like it was being controlled more by the game mechanics, than you as the player who actually controls the character.

The story was exceptional, and well that's for the Sands trilogy....I really loved The Sands of Time, but Warrior Within was my favourite in the trilogy. The Two Thrones just ruined it, as I hated the ending. It made me feel like completing the whole series was just a pointless and unrewarding task.

They could have ended it so much better. :(

I played the new one to death though, and I think it was the game which gave me my first Platinum trophy on PSN. :D
