I know this happens a lot, especially to this forum...but Im really bored.
Why has this forum been so inactive recently? It kind of boomed a few months back, and seems to have just stopped...
Even the competitions had a laclustre response...

Somehow a lack of motivation in my case...

Probably cause of the p**s poor design and bugs in this place.

Most of which are gone.
Since Tenebra stepped in and started sorting everything out, Ive had little to no trouble with the forum.
The place just seems dead though. Or, at least, the areas of the forum that i visit/frequent.
people stuck with home work, parents restrickting the younger member on their internet time, duno but it does seem to have dropped off a bit.

Maybe all this dead (http://capcom-europe.com/forums.aspx?g=posts&m=15848#15848) talk summoned this?

Lol, quite possibly :P new members are scared away by the awful puns.

Well now thats just dead awful isnt it?
The forum is going to change quite dramatically both in terms of look and functionality, fear not. Its part of quite a substantial redevelopment job, its not something that can happen in a matter of weeks.
Im always open to suggestions, at the moment we have to work with what weve got, all I can do at present is being Capcom Robin Hood - stealing from the cupboard and giving to the community. If you have fancy ideas dont keep them to yourself, poke me and Ill listen.
Like most forums, were a lot less active than a few months ago because summer break ended for most student. Duty calls again, so to say.
And personally, Im confident that Tenebras overhaul will probably be paired with plans to make the community live up. So its probably best to be patient until she finishes that and just have fun with the few of us here.
Any estimate on when youre done though, Tenebra?
The forum is absolutely fine, I get very few bugs and Tenebra is running the place excellently.
This place just needs the publicity, maybe some promotion on game packaging, or on the back of the games instruction book under the Capcom-Insider code on the back, with the weblink or something.
The other problem is the amount of inactive users who seemingly join then disappear, maybe it wouldnt hurt to send a reminder email that they havent posted and that they should bookmark the page.

Personally I like the fact that it is not extremely busy. I like the intimaticy.
I think its part what Urya said and also the fact that Capcom havnt released a video game in the high street for quite a while now (not incl downloads).
Also maybe those evil members over at Unity have lured in any new members we may have had.

Very true mate the forum has gone dead. Theres nothing interesting on the forum anymore not like it used to be.
I can remember when I first joined the forum of old. I had just bought my first Resi (REmake) and I was so hyped that I had to give the forum a go. I enjoyed that immensely. The forum changed and I loved the changes. The new forum started to get busier and the topics started to grow.
And then, the Depression. Out of nowhere, the major players started to get banned for having opinions. The insults and bullying started to crop up and so, the garden became corrupt. The very soil of the forum turned black and barren and the ants started to suck the life out of their fellow ants. Some more of the major players left.
As of this, even I lost my original forum-using energy. Mayhaps the garden will grow back to its original form. We can only hope, I guess.
Metaphors are grand, arent they?

Im addicted to this forum...which is my major problem.
Ive tried to step back and just wait for the activity to start again...but I cant do it. This forum is pretty much always on my browser when Im online.
I know a lot of the older members no longer frequent here, and I know this is because of certain other members, or because the forum changed too much, etc.
I just hope that maybe some of them will come back at some point.
I miss the old days on the Resi forum when it wasnt just me talking to myself...It was me talking to myself in a room filled with people.

I think the biggest contributing factor to the deadness is the forum move. It was a disaster at first and it all went down wrong, and that naturally ruined the experience for members new and old alike. Then, the fact the forum was actually MUCH LESS efficient and didnt work at all really put those who persevered into a state of dismay.
Then we have the members. Some people dont like the methods of moderation, others dont like specific moderators and there seems to be, although a great motivation from Tena, a lack. Ill admit I found it extremely disheartening when I was told I could not enter a competition when on the old forum Chomp always let me enter (Hey Steve! ^_^)
Couple that with the fact that Unity is overall a much better put together / socially integrated site and there you have it!
Ill admit I found it extremely disheartening when I was told I could not enter a competition when on the old forum Chomp always let me enter (Hey Steve! ^_^)
Im quite surprised about this, James. Back where I come from moderators wouldnt even dream of entering a competition because they felt that the community came first. Nothing I ever needed even to ask, it was all their doing. But hey, maybe thats a question of different online philosophy. I certainly didnt expect it to be a demotivating factor.
Anyway, theres a giveaway going on even as we speak and it does say PAL territories, feel free to enter.

I agree with that.
I find a couple of the mods to be arragant by how they put them selves across which some times to leeds to not knowing how to take them with certain coments.
Yes I know they have a job to do but a lot of the these arguments in the past have been 6 of one half a dozen of the other and i think members get dis heartend when they get told off or warned and see them get away with it.
Granterd The spirit started off as 6 of one and half a dozen of the but then he just went on a anti 777 hunt to antaganise him.(probberbly out of frustration)
They certain members are jumped on by some mods but yet they ignore what other members do, its unblanced modding they like some one they dont seem to say anything, they dont like or have no preference they say and do something.
Both Thrudd and Chompman let mods enter comps, but this is your play ground now Tenebra lol
Im considering moving to community as well from time to time. Theres some real Capcom staff on board there, whereas here it seems Tenebra sits on a lonely oputpost.
Other reasons for the lack of traffic is probably the totally outdated board software used here and the general lack of new Capcom releases. What should we talk about? (...us Wii users in particular? :p)
It should improve soon though, when the X-Mas business is starting.
Enlighten me, why exactly would you want to leave?
Its impossible to leave, unless youre permanently banned or stricken from the records, so why abandon this place when you can easily come in once and a while?
This place is meant for europeans and allows us to express opinions to how Capcom should be over here, the only reason Capcom-unity is more popular is because America is more populated, there is nothing wrong with joining over there as well, but I do see fault in wanting to permanently leave a place with absolutely no obligations or problems holding you back.
Whoops, misread your post, and it would seem I was caught short before I had chance to delete my misguided post.
I dont see a reason for joining capcom-unity because it would only hurt me in the long run, they get nicer releases and special editions over there.

Im guessing Unity is the American forum?
I hear about it a lot, but have never visited it. I dont really see the point...Im in Europe, so I wont really have access to what they have. That, and the chances are I would be posting whilst theyre asleep, and they would be posting whilst Im asleep...it would just confuse matters, etc.
Oh, and my post count here would mean nothing to them :P ^_^
Nah, I think Ill be sticking with this forum till the end...It seems sad, but Ive grown too attached the place. Ive watched moderators and Admins come and go, Ive seen several different versions of the forum...I cant bring myself to hit the little X in the corner and never return.

personaly i dont like it much prefer it here we need to advertise and get this place on its feet.
Do capcom have the forum link in the games manuals? cant remeber need to check.
for the ps3 they could add a link to the forum in the game menu which brings you here, seen this done with everybodys world golf tour.
Is that a white forum? Seriously...I consider that bland and unattractive.

You know, I was thinking the exact same thing. The colour scheme is bland at the same time as being blinding...
I dont much like the layout either. Or the cramped structure of posts, etc.
Does it even have a skin?!
Personally, I came to this place for Devil May Cry, stayed for Resident Evil and the other stuff.
One of my main concerns are the complete lack of intelligent posts and responses in some of the sections, I get incredibly annoyed by the 12 year old whose da bezt at DMC and comes here to tell me that he is right about everything when I take apart the post in a matter of seconds, when its the regulars responding with a hearty post, I know im in for a good discussion.
thezombiemessia

Its just a shame that lengthy posts are few and far between.
I often find myself wishing that RE5 was still considered a racist game...at least wed then have people storming the forums and giving lengthy posts on why it should be banned.
*sighs*
As I said, were going to have a very substantial makeover soon, not just visually but in terms of functionalities as well. Its quite a job, all going how it should you will see part of it before Christmas. We will be advertising the forums with the new products but given what we have at the moment I dont feel like going full blast.
Past...past...I keep hearing about that. The past is over, done with, at least when we talk about the bad things. Lets move on.
Fine with the criticism but where are the suggestions?

Personally I wonder about Capcoms luxury of running two separate communities. Wouldnt a plain merger be the best solution?

Well, the old admins let them enter and I see no problems if we enter and go through the same processes as members do. Moderators ARE PART OF the community. It wasnt really demotivating, just made me feel a bit left out considering I used to be able to. I mean, where else am I supposed to get Capcom swag from?
I know a few Aussie members who also left and came to my board because of the lack of inclusion but I guess thats because its Capcom Europe and not Capcom PAL. Secondly, the distributors for Capcom here in Australia (as Ive told you before) arent particularly nice.
Past...past...I keep hearing about that. The past is over, done with, at least when we talk about the bad things. Lets move on.
With all due respect, if it aint broke dont fix it. Thats the biggest issue that people found with the forum.
Ill be honest that since I found out that Spike was a previous moderator, Ive felt a bit more comfortable here. Me and him always got along and I was always sad when I saw him leave.
But yeah, theres really no suggestions I can offer other than wait for the new redesign.

I noticed another gone post here: http://www.capcom-europe.com/forums.aspx?g=posts&t=1394
TZM asked why the disc wouldn t work in that post.
Was there some forum backup or something? (I also got a PM from today marked unread, although I did read it already)
Im investigating on the error message. Were migrating to new servers, were bound to experience some teething issues for the next few days. No idea whats going on with the disappearing messages, it shouldnt be related as its been happening for some time now.

I don t want to open another topic in the forum support for this, so... do you also get this HUGE okami picture on the front page?
While we re at the front page... nice new picture Adaspek.
How can I post pictures by the way?
Personally I wonder about [the] luxury of running two separate communities. Wouldnt a plain merger be the best solution?
Thats probably what the British thought.
I have to put my hand up at that one as that is how i originaly thought.
But i did come relalise it made more sence as the UK is part of the european market.
And if it was not for this place some of my good freinds on PSN and XBL would not be on my friends list.
Am I just confused, or did my post get deleted due to the migration?
Anyway, how about keeping the community up-to-date on the new site youre working on, Tenebra? Could just be things like screenshots and a list of features you just finished. That way, itd feel like less of a drag until the new site for us.

Nothing to do with the migration, the disappearing posts issue has been happening for at least 3 months.

It wasnt quite a question hence I didnt think you were expecting an answer. It was - I hope, I have nothing to do with the disappearance of that post - a coincidence that my post went.
As far as I know mods get their tools to do their job. Benefits are not quite the right way to call them but I get surprised that mods should complain of being left out.
Dont forget that some users delete their own posts too, some posts may sound too stupid or offensive by mistake so the user may do it to save face.
