how many of you guys think that these classic games should be put on the psn and xbox live store it would be a good comeback

1, 2 & 3 should eventually make it over to the European PSN store. As far as I'm aware, they're already available through the American and Japanese PSN stores.

However, Code Veronica is unlikely to come anytime soon. If Sony ever live up to the rumours of re-adding Backwards compatability, or giving PS2 games a Digital Service over PSN, it may arrive.

As for Zero...well, it is still possible to get Zero for this generation (or will be soon, I can't quite remember if it's out on the Wii yet), so there is little point. Also, I think Nintendo may still have exclusive rights to it at the moment...

Since Zero and Remake are out on Wii as a re-release, and are also exclusive to nintendo, I doubt you'll see them on Live or PSN.

The original 3 Resident Evil games have issues with Eidos and Virgin Interactive, until these problems are resolved, they won't be heading our way any time soon.
As for Code Veronica, it's possible but the release of Darkside Chronicles and it's high supply due to it being on PS2, NGC and Dreamcast could prevent it ever being a download.

They cant use RE-Zero or REmake, Nintendo has the rights to it or something like that.

RE1 & 3 are already on PSstore but only in US & JPN so far.

RE2 should definitely be a digital download with the other 2, then they can do some bundle deal, or have them under one file & give it some kind of name.

CVX, because certain PS3 aren't backwards compatible I couldn't see it being a download, and Im sure 360 wouldn't get it either.

But right now none of the original 3 will see light on EU Marketplace/PSstore because of Virgin & Eidos.

Despite owning all of these I would like to see them for download so my mates & others get the chance to play/replay these classics.

EDIT*** seems you two guys beat me to the reply : )

And TZM beat me, the fact I posted that from a mobile phone slowed me down, but I suppose it made for adequate clarification.

Wasn't there a post confirming the status of remakes and re-releases a while ago? might be worth throwing one up to prevent confusion.

Lets keep this topic open in case Irelandcool has any questions or wants to say his peace.

lol, I was using ps3 to post which I suppose is just as bad.

Yeah there was a thread, the whole Eidos & Virgin thing was mentioned there too, I suppose this thread explains why the others wont come to store either.

I would have linked the previous thread, but this thread also happens to deal with other games and other issues.

Also, I posted from my Laptop, hence the quick response ;)

It would be nice to see something ala God of War Collection, this time with CODE: Veronica X and Resident Evil 4.

Capcom (going by what the bigwigs said on Unity) mentioned that they are interested in re-releasing games in this manner, though there was no mention of what titles, although the relative topic there was in regards to Devil May Cry. Don't take this anymore than speculation though. ;]

Despite this, this seems to be a Sony-only venture at the moment (adding Trophies and updating the graphics with a HD touch), but something that could erupt and be better than simply re-releasing PS2 titles with no change on the Network.

But hey, this is wishful thinking, but something I'd like to see a lot more in the future.

Why is it that Europe always have barriers when releasing games? XD
Might as well buy them off the US PSN. But I'd understand why you'd want them on PSN Europe edition.

But! Don't fret! Bug's Life PS1 is on UK PSN! XD Get that instead!:D

Leona is making me mad right now! XD

CV came out on the DreamCast.

CVX was released on PS2 and GameCube.

I can't remember if CVX ever saw a DC release, but either way...CV was never on PS1.

However, I still notice that the PS3 offers the choice to create a virtual memory card for the PS2, so I can't help but think that PS2 compatibility is still in the works, somewhere within Sonys massive labs...

i dont think CVX ever was realeased on DC. the differences were fairly minimal between the two though and the cube version was a direct port of th ps2 version (like 2 and nemesis were.) i'd download 2 though so i could play it again without diging out my ps2 or my N64.

maybe if capcom were to do something like konami's silent hill and make a collection box both for ps3 and xbox 360 and nintendo wii

thezombiemessia
06-12-09, 14:44
There'd be little point in doing it for the Wii, since it is GC Backwards Compatible, and all the games you've listed are available on the GC.

And the PS3 is able to run PS1 games, so it'd be possible to get RE2 and RE3 on the PS3 anyways (assuming you can find copies of the original PS1 games).

Needless to say, it could happen...but it is unlikely to. It'd take up a lot of time.

Konami's Silent Hill collection only has SH2, SH3 and SH4 in it, and it was for the PS2, which the games were already available on. Konami only had to re-release the titles.

For Capcom to do a collection of the original games for the latest consoles, there would have to be a fair amount of re-coding to be done.

Dante2014

Yeah, I doubt that they could mix a multiformat compilation considering the multitude of titles involved, the GC titles are cheap enough, and even if you don't have a Wii, the Gamecube itself is pretty cheap and common, you can pick one up with a few games for under £50.

My local Pink Planet sells GameCubes for £15, and the Resi series are all available pre-owned for between £5-£15.

If you search pre-owned PS1 games as often as possible, you can find the originals to. My local Pink Planet, again, has RE3 and Gun Survivor 1 in at the moment for £1.99 each.

It's also considerably faster to find several games and buy the rest over the internet, instead of waiting for these titles to appear on download services or as compilations, the bulk are just re-releases anyway, you can cut alot of corners by buying only the core titles of the series (RE0, REmake, RE Directors Cut, RE2 (of course), RE3, CVX, RE4 and RE5), and the spin offs at the later date, it's only if you really like the series enough should bother with the re-releases and titles on another format.

I find in most cases, people presenting the idea of releasing games as a bundle or as part of a download service, tend to just want the ease of having them all at once without having to go to the effort of finding them. This is good, but also rather pointless considering most of the hardcore fans have all the games and the versions you've never heard of, so Capcom would never make much of a profit from their existing fanbase, only those too young at the time to buy the games new or those with heavily abused copies.

As always, I thought the first four Resident Evil games were classics. To hell with Ganados.

To be honest I think the best are RE2 and RE5. I felt that RE5 mixed the old and new together well, although I'm not the biggest fan off all the old characters being filled with magic muscle juice.

I had the PS1 versions of the RE games and on a large TV, the graphics were seriously dated and the character graphic was pants, so I sold them and bought a second-hand Plat. Gamecube (4 15 quid, Bargin!) and bought RE 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4 (+ I still have my PS2 RE4 Steel Book) and I'm still waiting to come across CVX (G/Cube) for fairly cheap I think people are charging to high a price for CVX (G/Cube) on ebay etc, when I moved back to Belfast I missed a copy of CVX (G/Cube) for 3 quid by a week  .

I loved the remake of RE1 for the gamecube and the PS1 originals will never grace a TV screen of mine ever again. :hop:

Really? I thought the originals looked rather good, despite being 10 years old, some of them really have nice pre-rendered backgrounds and cutscenes, I think part of the charm of the original series is indeed its cheesy lines and bad CGI.

Try play.com for CVX(GC), got mine from there for £10 in excellent condition after realising the PS3slim wasn't backward compatible lol.

Why did Capcom choose Eidos and Virgin as distributors? Never really got that.

LT_Jones

Thanks tried Play 4 CVX but they only had the PS2 versions for sale.

Don't get me wrong the original PS1 version backgrounds in RE2 and RE3 looked good in comparison with the backgrounds on the PS2 CVX which looks pretty bland regardless of the fact the backgrounds moved in it, although the character animation in CVX was superb in comparison to how they looked on the PS1 on a large TV.

I thought what CAPCOM did with RE0 and RE1 on the gamecube was excellent and atmospheric but the RE2 and RE3 were pretty much the same as the PS1 versions only a bit clearer on screen than the PS1 versions of the games.

:)

P.S. There are in fact a lot of people out there who didn't like the RE format until the fantastic change in gameplay that RE4 brought to our visual senses but still this wasn't enough for some people until of course the stunning RE5 was released then it was "Oh I'll ave a go on that."

I noticed RE5 got slated quite a bit by various reviewers online because of the storyline, but really, who cares, it looked fantastic and was great to play. The best line in all the RE games for me was "Barry, wheres Barry?" lol

Marketing power, mostly.

From what I remember, Capcom were well known around the time of their release...but didn't have much marketing power within Europe.

This is a guess though.
