Hi there!

Im sure someone here can tell me how samey the 4 storylines in this game are. Are they basically sharing a 90% identical core with just minor plot tweaks, or are they all significantly different?

I kinda dont want to miss anything really important, but I dont want to play the same game 4 times in a row either.

What would you think? I assume I should at least play once with Claire and once with Leon?

Greetings,
Manuel

You should play it and complete it 4 times, it is really worth seeing the different versions of the story, to fully understand the story you must at least play a Leon A and Claire B scenario, on completing that you get to play a Claire A and Leon B scenario and get a fuller version of the ending, its really not that time consuming, just have two different save games (one for Leon one for Claire) and gradually work each, on completing them, save Leon B and Claire B and do the same.

And no, its not just a few minor plot tweaks, that only applies to the opposite scenario to what youre playing (Eg Leon A would be Claire B ), the plot changes greatly from a characters A and B scenario, they meet different people, have to face different bosses and give insight in to the events during the opposite characters storyline.

Im not sure if I fully get it.

Basically I understand that in the beginning you can choose to either follow Chris path or Claires path and those two together form a full picture of what happened.

Then, for the second time through, theyre kinda just switching sides?

Sorry if I was too complex, heres what it basically is:

The A scenario is the story you play first, in the B scenario you play as the other character and witness what they are doing during the other characters scenario, like opposites.

And what I meant was, if you play as Leon during his A scenario, it would be similar to Claires A scenario, (same goes for the B scenarios, they are nearly the same),on completing the A scenario, you get the other characters B storyline, If you complete it first time as Claire, you get to play as Leon B, and the other way around if you played Leon first time, you would get Claire B.

The B storyline is completely different, as it switches the character to the other side of the fire at the start of the game, meaning you will have to do things in a different order and face Mr.X and a different version of Birkin, so it is worth playing it through to get the full game.

Youre welcome.

Although, TZM would be able to explain some of the points far better.

Considering each character has their own strengths and weaknesses, its also better to play all 4 just to see what YOU have to do differently.

For instance, Claire can pick locks, Leon cant. Claire gets a bowgun, Leon gets a Shotgun.

And extra things to add are the fact that bonus content can only be unlocked by playing all of the scenarios...but even then you have to do them in a certain time. To unlock the fourth survivor you have to complete all 4 of them.

Leon A - Head through Kendo gun shop and pick up Shotgun. Meet Ada. Fight Birkin.

Leon B - Head into Police Station, witness copter crash. Meet Ada. Fight Birkin. Fight Mr X. Meet Sherry.

Claire A - Head through Kendo gun shop and pick up bowgun. Meet Sherry. Meet Irons. Fight Birkin.

Claire B - Head into Police Station, witness copter crash. Meet Sherry. Meet Irons. Fight Birkin. Fight Mr X.

On top of this, you also get different locations depending on the character and situation, etc.
