Is it up yet? I hope so, will check now as I use raptr for x360 and PS3 is direct to Facebook which way cool...
Out of curiosity, was anyone really waiting for these social apps to hit the consoles?
And with anyone, I mean, YOU, forum community member!
I don't have the way-to-tiny looking keyboard for my xbox controller, so typing a message on Facebook would take a BAZILLION years.
That's pretty stupid, concidering I need to have my pc on to connect to Xbox live.
I can assume the same applies to PS3 users.
So please, do share if you think it's a worthwile addition, and why/why not.
I'd love to read it.

I might use it when in bed (when I get a replacement PS3), but for general use, I'm just going to stick with a computer.
The only thing which I really like application wise, on the PS3, is the BBC iPlayer. :)
I've the PS3 official wireless keypad, it helps me type messages more quickly. Not sure what use it will have, I'll wait to see and try.
But for sure I was not waiting for this :giggle:
Whereas I deem Facebook to be pretty pointless, since I can communicate with the people that matter far more directly, no one I care to know from life uses it, and having so called "friends" add you out of nowhere is just to boost their little number to the side, I've added 3 people in its use (only because they added me first) and my account is pretty much vacant, nothing personal, people are free to add me if they want, but don't expect anything more than just having my name on your list... As for its use on consoles, I deem it to be the most pointless feature to date, why, on earth, would anyone need to update their status when they need a fully functioning PC to use it quickly and properly? would breaking away from a game realy justify putting in a line of text? and even then they'd mostly be to do with gaming...

You're right in a sense with that some people add people on facebook just to make people believe they're popular, but that is only some people.
My facebook consists of actual friends, people I know in real life, and family.
If someone tries to add me who I don't know, unless they're a friend of a friend, I won't actually accept the request.
I'm not entirely sure why you feel people would only use status updates regarding their games. I think that's generalising too much, as it's there on the console, but people are still going to use it for general everyday use.
It's only there to be more convenient for some people. I for one, wouldn't just be posting about my games. I'd be saying what's on my mind, like I usually do.
I still don't see it as a necessary addition for the PS3 though. It's just something extra for sony to say; "Look what we have", and besides, I'm pretty sure xbox has it, too.
Its all meant to be a bit of fun..I have friends and internet friends on FB....I like raptr updating FB/Twitter with games and achievements, the PS3 will update what I am doing direct without the use oof Raptr which is hit and miss whether it records your achievements or games...

I won't be using it. I would have preferred Twitter or some sort of Twitter function ala Uncharted 2. With Facebook, I use that differently to how I use Twitter (directed audience).
But on the other hand, I have my laptop with me so if I wanted to tweet any game-related nonsense, I can do it on this.

I think consoles are still meant for playing games. If I want to spend hours and hours using facebook etc., I use my PC. Why should I own a console if I don't play games on it !? This is only usefull if you don't have a PC or laptop. Personally I don't want to waste my precious gaming time using my PS3 for facebook :D! It's almost as useless as the second shortcut for the PSN...

Wait, what? You need to have your PC on to connect to xbox live?
I dont need to have my PC on to connect to PSN.
Btw, i will use this add to spam my facebook wall that i haz playstation 3 and u dont :D, meaning that when i download an awesome demo or buy an awesome PSN game, i will let people in my friends list know, considering that non of them has a ps3 :D(im evil :taunt1:)
They are now classed as Multi media hubs more than console.
I don't mind them on consoles as with two people who use facebook in our house where always nagging each other to hurry up lol.

I agree with you but I personally want to spend my time playing games on my console rather than checking who is online or not, writing messages, ect. Maybe I should use facebook more often :D!

I dont see any point what so ever in having any social network on any console. Its not like it works properly. If I want to check my facebook quickly Ill use my iPod. As for Twitter I barely use that as it is as Im not really that into stalking people.
The Zune thing on live is cool because you can stream movies but again, this is pointless for me as I dont really download movies as I have a huge dvd collection and the films that I do watch (mainly anime and crappy tv comedies) are not on xbox anyways.

You could get on fb anyways via the browser. Oh well might give it a little try, doubt it will stick though.
It's up now. You will need to go into account management to activate it.

Not working at 100%.
I've "liked" your buy, at first it appears as liked, but as soon as the page refreshes it isn't marked any more as "João likes this".
Edit: seems it is now working.
It's still marked on mine:confused:
I can play farmsville on ps3 now whoot whoot:mexwave:
