View Full Version : MGS goes PSN
MGS [PSone] is finally coming to PSN. I've played the original so many times, but I'm still very tempted to get it for the PSP as well. [Although, I think I'm going to wait for Vagrant Story first as I never completed that]

I wonder how they're going to do Meryl's codec number with a download release...
But yeah, it's lower on my list than Vagrant Story, I have the original MGS, still the best one.
Ok, finally a game that I want to buy on PSN. I missed out on the whole MGS series, so I'm really happy that this one is coming.
One question, is the original or the Gamecube remake better?
I vote the PSone version. The mood and the music feels a bit better to me.
I don't think you can go too wrong in either versions, mind you. I reckon MGS is still the best in its series, and I think a lot of people would agree.
I agree, having played both, I'd say Twin Snakes is something to experience after the original, but that's all really.
Ok, thanks both. Here's waiting for Spring then...:D

Good news for those without it. I'm lucky enough to own the original version of MGS on PSOne, so I have no desire to download it. I'm waiting for Final Fantasy VIII.
You, sir, have good taste :)
Everyone has to play FF8...it's the law.

i have the original MGS and the twin snakes remake, played both of them to death! They're exactly the same game only twin snakes has some rediculously awesome cut scenes added in and much much better graphics, people actually have faces instead of squares!
As for FFVIII, tis a good game
The problem with the disc release of FF8 was that one scratch can render the game dead on a cutscene/pre-rendered moving backdrop, so if it where released on PSN, I'd download it in a heart beat.
As for Twin Snakes, I'd say that it was purposely OTT to give Snake a legendary image whereas the original was what "really happened", so thats why I recommend the original, as not to make it seem inferior and to show the creators original intentions.

I like the OTTness of Twin Snakes, I think the only reason the wern't in the origianl is because of the technology and the time restraint factor. Once you've got your thing out into the public theres always things you want to change about it but can't. Think of it more like a directors cut of the original.
If you can, get both games just like I did :D
im going to definetly grab this, especially as i can play on psp ;-D i've completely missed out on the MGS series and now i've got a ps3 i obviously really want to play MGS 4 but first i've decided to comple the previous installments. I picked up mgs2 a couple of months back and i've been waiting for the originals psn release since then.
Also i've just started my first ever FF game with crisis core on the psp and as im looking to get into the series with 13 i'll probably pick up 7 and 8 and get them done and dusted before 13's launch too.

Twin Snakes is better then the original, since its the same game just with better graphics and controls. Is there even a player out there who never played MGS ?

I was never into the whole action genre, so yeah.
You hurt my feelings now :(

I still remember when I got my MGS Limited Edition Premium Package for my birthday ten years ago. MGS1 will always be one of the games that is particularly special to me. MGS2, 3 and 4 are all outstanding games but the original will forever be a supreme classic to me.
I had The Twin Snakes too. I had two problems with it, the first being that I had played the original to death. The second being that all the new cut scene sequences and the voice acting were so much cheesier and made little impact compared to the original imo. All the new play features were all in MGS2 anyway so there was nothing major gained there. The new Gray Fox voice was still fairly awesome though.
I have no consoles and no games nowadays but even without it I'll always fondly remember MGS1 :(
