Please welcome Fonix, our brand new Product & Community Manager for the UK. Please treat him well and gently whilst he gets the chance to settle down and get to know you.
This doesn't mean I'll disappear (damn! I hear you say :D), you'll just get a higher level of attention than you've ever had.

*Welcomes Fonix*
Hey, welcome to the forums. Hopefully you'll have a pleasant time whilst you work here. Unfortunately, I don't think it'll be stress free, judging by how much work you'll be given, but hey. Stay positive! :p
Ten - You can't leave these forums ever. Your soul is now bound to the forum walls (it has walls now? Hmm), as we'd be sad to see you go, if we had to wave you off ever. :(
Hi All,
Thanks for the intro Tenebra :)
I'll be visiting all the threads forum wide over the course of the week, so no doubt I’ll get to meet you all in due course!
In the interim let me know if you have any questions.
Fonix
Does this mean more freebies?!!?!?!? its nearly xmas you know *wink wink* lol
I've got an uber cool surprise coming soon, don't you worry ;)
Ten - You can't leave these forums ever. Your soul is now bound to the forum walls (it has walls now? Hmm)
I'm not going anywhere :p It's just that you need more TLC and I need a little more sleep. It's not a replacement, it's an addition ;)

Oh good, haha. I'm glad you're not going anywhere. :D
Also, your uber cool surprise wouldn't have anything to do with your twitpic of some mega awesome monster hunter, lost planet 2 and resident evil plushies and merchandise would it? :p
Haha, this shall be cool. It's so good to be a huge fan of Capcom, as you don't tend to miss out on rad things like this. :p

Oh, @Ten, please give us lots of warning for whatever you have planned for that stuff. I'll be spitting fireworks if i miss out on a chance to win a felyne fighter :worthy:

Haha, nah Jar, I guess it's just an accidental addition. I could make a living though, if you feel like paying me for it. :p
Anyway, I'm being naughty and taking this off topic, so let the rest of the welcomes flood in! ;)

Welcome Fonix, games nights sound brilliant, perhaps you would consider using a capture device and posting some vids in the vid player on the home page like they do over at unity?

me no like poll....the only game I have on the poll is...well none of them. Can we play MvC2 at my house on dreamcast? I dont really want to buy it again just to get my head kicked in by an 8 year old kid.
Can we play Lost Planet on xbox instead?

Fear not - This will be the first of several evenings, each will vary the title that we play. :)

yeah I guess so but I dont want to be missing out...actually looking through my pile of games, I have SFVI on PS3
Just a quick question, seeing as this is a Capcom forum will you only be organising Capcom games or will you be doing anything? Im pretty sure everyone has MW2 by now and we could pretty much just take over a whole room with people from the forum

For sure! We'll open things up outside of Capcom titles. MW2 is a clear choice not forgetting L4D2!
Any other ideas?
(This may well need a new thread.....)
Just to stress however, this will built up primarily from Capcom titles, but as we're all avid gamers so playing other titles is obviously inevitable!

I'd suggest opening a new thread asking members for their title choices and then collecting the popular choices together for a poll. Stage-by-stage process to ensure maximum attention.
I'd prolly be the only one here who'd suggest Bionic Commando multiplayer on PS3. D:
Heey fonix, greetings from Slovakia

I'm game for that, when I get a PS3 back lol. It was pretty much dead online wise, so I didn't get a go on multiplayer. :(

well Im gonna suggest LBP, metal gear 4 and Killzone 2 for PS3 and Left 4 dead 1 or 2, ODST and Lost Planet for xbox. I wish there was multiplayer on Assassins Creed, that would be awesome!
Hungry - want some lamb neck fillet.
OMFG! I ate exactly that last night with some spinach! They're so good aren't they?

Lost planet can be played on ps3 as well.
Metal gear 4 online is a pain in the , if you know what i mean :)
I suggest street fighter 4 even when im really sucky at that game, everyone who has naruto: ultimate ninja storm knows how great that game is, soul calibur 4 aaand... marvel vs capcom 2? Thats a blast and a fun game :)

Once you can actually play MGO, it's pretty awesome online. :p
I got really really good at one stage, but then didn't play it, and now can't lol. I have Little Big Planet, but to be honest, it's not that great. I think it's too gimmicky really.
Games that I'd feel like playing on PSN are:
Street Fighter IV
Marvel Vs Capcom 2
The Punisher: No Mercy (I bought it and didn't play it too much, but maybe online it fun)
Wipeout HD
Modern Warfare 2
CoD: World at War - Nazi Zombies
Bionic Commando, maybe
Resident Evil 5: Merc's
Killzone 2
Not really sure what else, so I'll leave it at that. ;)
[quote=chaosriotzero;498491]yeah but I have LP on 360 :Dquote]
No problems here - again we'll rotate around console versions too so nobody misses out.
Abit late than never but welcome Fonix.:D
Hi Guys.
As promised I'll be running a games night next week. The winner of the first pole was Street Fighter IV on the PS3.
I propose 8pm on Wed the 13th of Jan. How does that work for others?

Would have been up for that though. Really miss playing SF4! Haven't touched it in ages, and it'd be good to get a competition going on with it, of some kind.

Any other day of the week is fine for me, so if people want to play me sometime, then I'm down for it.
Only reason I can't play on a wednesday, is because I always go around a friend's once a week to play a game.
I haven't been to it for the past month, and there are usually four of us, so I don't really want to let the others down anymore. The morning would have been fine, or any other day in the week though.
For those of you who are playing, good luck!
I'd like to see a proper Capcom forum SF4 tournament kick off sometime. Just not sure how many of you have it on PS3, and how many of you have it on 360. Shame you can't play cross-platform. :p
Thanks Cortez.
Good point on the platform front - i'll make sure we have a cross of platforms so everybody can get involved.
Tournament play sounds like a good way forward for SFIV and it'll get us all ready for SSIV too!
Wed was just a suggestion, how does Monday @ 8:30PM fit?
So far we have:

I'd love to come over and see you guys (again), but with the Eurostar regularely being cancelled, that's a pretty big risk.
Also, since it's only a week in advance, tickets are either sold out or starting from 300 quid. (converted from the price in Euro's.)
So I'll pass on this one.
I'll be with you guys in spirit and soul!

Jarl, it's for an online tourny, and not an in house Capcom tourny, so you should be fine to participate! ;)
If it was in london, I wouldn't be able to do it at night, as it's too much hard work to get back to where I live, if I leave after 8.30.
Fonix - No problem. I didn't realise it would help you in any way, but I just wondered about it.
I'm free on monday, tuesday, thursday, friday, saturday and sunday, all day. So yea, that's fine. I'm pretty flexible, without the inclusion of wednesday.
Let's just hope a few people get involved!

Where are the 90 or so people who voted in the poll when you need 'em? :chin:
Hi Cortez - I was waiting on some greater numbers, which would warrant a tournament with a prize.
So we need a minimum of 8 entrants for me to organise one. :)
I make that 5 to go.
CaptainCortez
12-01-10, 11:38
Ah, that's ok!
I just wish more people would sign up to this, as it would be great fun, and for once I might actually stand a chance at beating a few people, as I'm at home with the d-pad.
It takes the fun out of fighters for me, when the d-pad isn't allowed, and you have to use a joystick, as I just don't get on with one.
Greetings and welcome to the forums. Your life will never be quite the same again...
that's for sure! :woohoo:
(i was going to put a picture of a crazy cat staring at a computer....but decided against it )
anyways, sorry i couldn't welcome you sooner, it seems i have been living under a virtual rock in the Capcom forums lately :(
but anyways, WELCOME!
i have a question, when you say game nights, do you mean online or actually meeting in person at a gathering type thing?
CaptainCortez
12-01-10, 18:20
It's for online Greeny. :p
I said it was to someone else in the thread, and it hasn't been corrected by Fonix. Plus, everyone else playing so far is taking it as an online sign up, so I think it's safe to say that yes it's just for online play, and not a meeting. ;)
So, sign up man, and I'm really hoping you have it for ps3!

Thanks for the warm welcome Green. As Cortez has pointed out its just an online event ATM. Regarding PS3/X360 we could run two tournaments in tandam if that would increase the number of entrants/interest?

I have SFIV for PS3... and I am currently unemployed(though not for long mind) so.... Count me in! although please note that ma SFIV skills are of the lowest Caliber, although i dont have access to a computer right now I can check this through my iPhone so when there is a time and date then send us a PM and it will make it easier to check
P.S. Oh and welcome Fonix, hope you enjoy managing the community :)
lol your running an online torunament for 4, your brave! cant wait for the 2 bar connection matches, lag fest!
Sign me up for both 360 and ps3, what we playing standard 3 sets, each set best of 3 games, game winner can't change character?
i'm afraid i was not able to get a hold of SSIV, so it looks like i can't make it, but the next time! actually i'll be in america next week (which is stupid because i just ordered Demon's souls ) so........ the week after that maybe! :high5:

Hmm, I have some bad news.
Although I'm a loyal and dedicated Capcom fan, I can't participate at the minute, as my PS3 has just died for the second time. So now, I need to sort it all out again, send it off and get it repaired again.
I think they should just give me a new one to be honest, as it has the extended 3 year warranty up until march, and if this thing keeps going, I can't keep sending it off for repair.
Hopefully it'll be sorted soon, but it has Bayonetta stuck inside of it this time. Last time, it had MW2 inside of it. Gah.
I'll be able to participate when it's sorted.
Sorry if I'm letting you all down now, but it can't be helped. :(
The most reliable thing in my house is either my PSP or my gameboy's (even the original starts up again as soon as batteries go into it, and I've had that since I was 4!!!!).
The most reliable thing in my house is either my PSP or my gameboy's (even the original starts up again as soon as batteries go into it, and I've had that since I was 4!!!!).
The more complex the technology is, the bigger the probability of malfunction. My gameboy also still works :D... sucks that i own only 3 games for it, which one sucks, one is decent and one si acctualy great but i played it so many times i dont feel like playing it ever again(super wario land 3)
CaptainCortez
16-01-10, 21:34
Yea, I know man. They try to cram so much in, that in the end everything overheats, breaks, and becomes faulty because of how advanced the technology is. It takes too much energy to run newer things.
I reckon my gameboy would actually survive the 100 year old mark, as long as they're still making batteries by then. :p
It just seems to work whatever the case.
Thanks for the update Cortez.
FYI - check out the Live SFIV tornament thats being run in London:

60GB Backwards Compatible one. It seems they're the ones which are known for breaking the most. :(
It's a shame, as you'd have thought being in production for so long, they'd last a little longer, but hey, it can't be helped.
Fonix - No worries. I don't want to let anyone down. :)
60GB Backwards Compatible one. It seems they're the ones which are known for breaking the most. :(
Yes! Thanks for the info, with the growing amount of ps3 failures i was worried over my ps3 but i have 80gb fat Nobwc version which is really dependable.

That's alright. :)
I'm glad some of you are having good luck with your consoles!
I'm a bit concerned about slims, as if I have to buy one, I'd imagine they've had a much shorter time in production, so don't know if they'd break or not.
Yes! Thanks for the info, with the growing amount of ps3 failures i was worried over my ps3 but i have 80gb fat Nobwc version which is really dependable.
I'm also worried, an huge amount of my friend had theirs broken, the BR drive or the YLOD. I just hope my 40GB lasts at least until the PS4 comes out
