Its that time of year again folks! Everybody is wondering what to buy for christmas and so am I, well, or i was wondering.

After a long decision, a decided a go with PSP 3000, due to the fact its cheaper(well, if i buy a 16gb card in it it will be as expensive as PSP Go!), the battery is changeable, it lasts longer and it has a UMD slot so i can borrow games from my friend, also many games are cheaper in online shops than PSN. It has a bigger screen and... thats all.

Whats your opinion? Which would you prefer and why?

Im now tempted to get a PSP 3000, because its essentially a pocket movie player, and cheap too, where as a PSPGo costs the same as a PS3 but you can only download games instead of having physical copy, which sucks.

My day 1 release date PSP 1000. 8D

I still remember skipping the first day of school to get it since it released on the first of september.

That being said, anything that isn't a PSP Go, get's my vote.
The online price of the games is on par with those in the store, or more expensive if you take the older titles which are being re-produced, and can be found easily in the bargain bin's these days.

im not really sure. its quite a coincidence, i was just about to make a thread about this. i am gonna get one before christmas as well.

3000: Pros- umd drive & downloadable content, more games (developers refuse to put games on psn), cheaper
_____Cons- not a lot of memory, old
.................................................. .................................................
G0!: Pros- smaller, lots of memory, newer
_____Cons- no umd drive, more expensive, smaller screen

.................................................. .................................................

so here is my verdict!: get the 3000, with add-on memory. that way the two cost the same, but the 3000 can play both umd and download a lot off the psn. that's logic. :thumb:

I like the 3000´s con old :D
Yeah, it seems PSP Go! will be forever in gaming history as sony´s biggest failure, im curious about the sales...

i dont really need to add to this but I can and will...

I dont like the option of download only, it just leaves you at the mercy of whoever is selling it and more often than not they seem to be quite happy to charge you over the odds for games, plus if you get a game then decide you dont like it you cant trade it in for a better game. Also what if your console breaks? My friend had to get his PS3 repaired and they very kindly wiped his hard drive for him

it has already been said on this forum but my two main problems with the psp go are

1) the price
2) the lack of physical software.

£250 is just too much when you could get a ps3 for that. mpstly though it's the lack of physical media. I collect games also and i like having the box art and stuff. I understand that Downloadable games are cost effective, alowing indie developers to florish (bringing us clasics like lostwinds) but i dont realy want all my games to be digital. aside for the fact that it's nice to have the physical object to own it also puts the manufacturers, artists and designers who work on these games out of business. plus, if you loose your memory card or something, all your games are gone and need re-downloading. i'd rather pay an extra tenner for the real thing.

I see how everyone prefers having a physical copy, but what about the fact that we tend to forget easily?

Game retailers themselves suffer losses by not being able to sell games after selling the PSP Go.
That's why I like how a couple of chains of gamestores in Holland have boycotted the psp go and refuse to sell it.

The psp 3000 can do every thing the GO can do except use blue tooth and that's not worth the extra pay out.

I have a 3000 with some DL games (mainly Mini's) but mainly have full games on UMD.

I think PSP Go is the next step of portable entertainment. I dont understand why its being so hated though. Price? Im not ritch either and I´ll buy it when its cheaper. UMDs? Sure its a disapointing it doesnt read UMD but digital is the evolution for a portable system as PSP
EDIT: Btw PSP Go just came out. Dont compare about witch one has more games since PSP Go is out for a mouth and PSP3000 for a year.

Its good to have a choice, but there is no choice when buying a psp go!, digital or nothing.

I dont understand when everyone say DLC is the future when physical copies still dominate the market. Sure, the number or users who download games is increasing but the number of users who buy physical copies is still higher and still will be. People like to get something for their money and many people dont like just data, they want something to pick up and see. I still prefer boxed games. Psp go! is revolutionary, but in the same way a step backward.

I dont say physical copies shouldnt exist, there will always be physical copies, I buy physical copies.
But for a portible divise witch you can carry arround, I think digital is more convinient than having to carry a bunch of disc. Yeah I know its a matter of choise and you like to have your discs collection just like I do on my home systems sure but what if it was the other way arround? First digital and then discs? Would people buy discs and arrange space for them at home when they could just download it right away for the system? This logic I just said may sound stupid but I also think that its a matter of getting used to the new things.

Include a very small screen on the list. Today I saw one live, incredible how it can have a screen smaller than some mobile phones

But still, its good to have an option. Its difficult to carry more than 1 game if you want to play in bus or somewhere else but you can still download games on psp 3000 as well(if you buy a 16gb card). And when your home and want to play a game, you just pick one up from the shelf.

About the space, it either way takes space - physical copies take space in your room(which isnt that much unless you are a hardcore collector)or if you download a game it takes space from your memory card(or hardrive). And i think 16gb games via shelf space is better than 16gb space from your memory card, you dont need to pay for your shelf space at least :)

I feel you but I also think that everyone will forget that when using it.

ya but that's like saying the ps3 slim has less games than the ps3 phat. it's the same console! why would i buy a psp that i have to wait to get games on, when i can buy a psp with all the games already released? if you already know which games you want, psp 3000 is the way. if you're new to psp and gaming, you don't really know all the good games so you wont be disappointed when they're not on the psn.

I think somebody else said something about losing your games on the psp go. (i don't know how to double quote. lol)
when you buy a GO you download something called "media GO!"
that means that all your downloads can be stored on your computer and never lost.
maybe they were talking about how if you lost your GO it would take a long time to download again, and in that case, you're right.

I am not against digital downloads I just prefer the best of both worlds and the PSP 3000 offers that and the PSP go does not.

This, basically.

On my PSP, I have the choice of either downloading or buying a physical copy.

If I get a PSP GO, then I only have the choice of downloading...and then there are the other problems, such as screen size, storage space, etc.

Yep I agree. I chose to buy Soul calibur broken destiny as a physical copy. i could have downloaded it for a tenner less but i had the chose to add it to my collection instead. i dont mind Downloadable games (Lostwinds must be in my top ten games) but i dont want every game i play to be like that. it is also a bit of a nightmare sifting through file after file to find the game you want. infact the lower softwear price is the only plus point i can think of when it comes to psp go, and that is far outwayed by the extortionate hardware price.
